Liberty's Edge

Normaly I quietly lurk these boards. Today I decided to celebrate USA's Independence Day early by drinking some beer (Dos Equis if you care). So while surfing YouTube watching Sammy Hagar videos I had an Epiphany.

Here goes...

.

Pathfinder is to Dungeons and Dragons

as

Chickenfoot is to Van Halen

Liberty's Edge

I have two players each playing 2 characters.
Player 1 plays: a Paladin of Erastil, and a Jester (Dragon Compendium)
Player 2 plays: a Celestial Bloodline Sorceress and a Cleric of Sarenrae
They are all human and they are all siblings. And they are all level 2.
We are playing it with PRPG (and having a blast).

After the initial assault of Sandpoint, my players caught wind of a captured goblin being held in the Sandpoint jail. They interrogated him and learned of the 'secret mission' to the graveyard. They also learned that the goblin was from a place called Thistletop (they forced him to tell them where he was from). So before I could set up the kidnapping of Ameiko by Tutso or anything really, they were all ready to go investigate Thistletop.

They met with Aldern the next morning and went on the boar hunt with him and after they killed a boar, they sent Aldern back to town with the boar and they headed to Thistletop. I had them meet an elven woman (Shalelu) staking out the Thistletop lair and she introduced and befriended them (they're gonna need the help).

Which gets me to my problem of sorts. Assuming the party is successful in Thitletop and find and defeat Nualia, how do I introduce the Catacombs of Wrath and run them without them feeling anti-climactic after their success at Thistletop? Do I even try to do the whole Tsuto kidnaps Ameiko thing? What other hooks could I use to get them to explore the Catacombs?

I'm about to begin running Rise of the Runelords using PFRPG. One of my players is going to play a Jester from Dragon Compendium.

So far the adjustments I have made are:
-Increased hit die to d8
-Used the spell progression and spells known as PFRPG Bard using the Jester spell list
-Reduced the Perform(Comedy) skill rank prerequisites of all the Jester's Performance abilities by 3.
-Adjusted the skill list kept all skills it had before, dropped all the ones that don't exist anymore, and added skills that old ones were moved to.

To me, the class still seems underpowered(?). It lacks a capstone ability which isn't too important to me as I doubt we will make it to 20th.

The player said that an older version (first or second edition?) of the jester had an ability that if someone tried to scry, or read thoughts (not sure which or both maybe?) the caster had a chance to be affected by a confusion spell. I think that might not be a bad ability to add (at about 8th level?)

Anyway any thoughts?

Seoni is now level 80!

I am enjoying Pathfinder immensely. I had enough credit from my Dragon and Dungeon subscriptions to convert to the first 8 (I think) pathfinders. If I hadn't had that credit I would have to stop my subscription right now (for financial reasons).

I would like an option to pre-pay for my pathfinder (like when I get my tax refund) so that when the lean part of the year comes I don't have to cancel. I know I could just cancel and then get them later when I have the money but I want to keep getting the PDFs for free too.

Is this option available? Could it be made available?

Thanks

OK, I got one. I need one more and possibly two.

Liberty's Edge

Not sure if it's too early to say but I'm missing issue 358. I got my Dungeon magazine (#149) well over a week ago and Dragon usually comes about the same time but I have not seen it yet.

Pathfinder #1 and the Rise of the Runelords Player's Guide ship this week, and as such, we thought it a good time to unveil a sample spread from the guide. Presented here for your perusal are two pages full of new animals, local takes on the core classes, and a full chart detailing all of the core gods of our setting. So what are you waiting for? Click the image to download a full-size version and dig in!

I am hoping to start DMing the Age of Worms tonight. I am using the Forgotton Realms Campaign Setting (its the only one I own).

The AoW Overload says that the deities for the Ebon Triad in the Forgotton Realms should be:
Bane (instead of Hextor)
Bhaal (instead of Erythnul) and
Myrkul (instead of Vecna)

However, looking through the list of deities in the FRCS I see no Bhaal or Myrkul. I also cannot find them in Faiths and Pantheons.

Unless somone can point me to the information for these deities, I plan on using:
Beshaba (instead of Bhaal) and
Velsharoon (instead of Vecna)

Are these appropriate choices or would another work better? Where is the info for Bhaal and Myrkul?

Thanks.
