Shisumo seems to be missing. He's not posted since 3/25 anywhere at paizo. Are we calling this one, or does someone want to pick up the mantle of GM? (I would but don't have Second Darkness)

I'm still here as well.

Tippello Tabinero wrote:

Tippy tries to get the attention of the others with a stage whisper.

Pssst! I've found something down this alley, and it doesn't bode well for Larur!

Tsadok will look down the alley, stepping away from the door... And see the cloak. Looking to Antaniel and sighing heavily. "Justice it is then, my friend."

To the party he whispers "Find another way in. I'll go in front."

Tsadok knocks loudly. "Look you little twit, I haven't got all day here, if you won't let me in to pay a debt, you're the one who's going to have problems. You have until the count of five." At which point he begins counting.

Intimidate:
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

If he doesn't get a response, he will try to break the door down.
Strength Check
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21

"I came in peace, but if I must break your door in to talk to you I will. All I'm here to do is ask a question or three. May I please come in? We have a mutual friend who may need your help."

Diplomacy: Anyone want to assist with this?
1d20 ⇒ 14

Tsadok will lead the group out, and work with those who are better at gathering information to find the right place. At that point he'll knock on the door politely.

"Hello, is anybody home?"

Along the way, Tsadok will look for places that someone could be dragged down an alley against their will, perhaps even signs of a scuffle.
Perception:
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14

Tsadok approaches the party and says, firmly,

"Someone's taken our dear Larur from us... and a sizeable amount of gold. We need to find him this afternoon, perhaps before the Goblin even opens up shop. I'm going to visit the moneylender that Larur was going to be paying, anyone else up for a trip... perhaps we'll even get to mete out some justice, Antaniel." Tsadok smiles.

"Anyways, if you're coming, get your things, Saul needs to make sure that his payment was received, and that Larur is safe." To everyone, much quieter, he whispers "Hopefully we just find Larur in bed with a mistress, rather than stabbed dead in an alley."

Sense Motive:
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

"So, Saul, what was this errand he was on? Would it have taken him into any places Clegg Zincher's men would have gone after him? Would he have gotten... distracted... by a 'friend' of some sort?

This is only a small list of thoughts for you off the top of my head, I'm sure that there are many things that I am not worldly enough to think of. I do believe that I can find him with help, specifically Tippello, Lyre, and Mario's help, as they are much more world-wise than myself. I'm good at seeing the openly bad intentions and the lying, not reading people so much.

So, what say you, Saul? Should we get to it before we open tonight?"

Bump. Are we still all here?

"I'm afraid not, my comrades. I wonder where she could be."

Tsadok remains in the rafters, occasionally asking Sam a question or three. So long as it stays UN-eventful Tsadok will begin each day much like he did at the monastery, in silence. He appears torn in a decision, and then relaxes after a day or so.

He pulls everyone together, and explains what has been bothering him.

"Guys, I've done some... research on the Blot. Someone in the town knows what caused it and what the key is to removing it, perhaps even where this key is. The key to removing the blot, however, is not in town. The worst part is that the blot itself was made by someone intentionally. I can't say much more, as my source didn't have much more information. Does this help in any way?"

DM Shisumo wrote:
Tsadok's attempts to build upon Tippello's inquiries prove entirely fruitless.

No surprises there :(

Tsadok will attempt to find any non-cyphermage scholars and try to work with them to see where the effect originated, whether the Cyphergate or the Blot. He'll likely do this after the above information had been passed onto him. Someone HAS to know something... Perhaps an ex-cyphermage?

Diplomacy:
*Result of 2*

well... that was pointless. Let's roll another diplomacy check to see if I can NOT offend someone. If that doesn't work, then I'll intimidate them into not attacking or rioting against me.

Diplomacy: I hope this one works.
1d20 ⇒ 7
Intimidate: I really don't want to use this one.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

"Good idea both of you, but don't you think that the entire town would be rioting if they knew where this was coming from? I'm all for looking about town, just to be sure, but I'm not certain it will produce the results we're looking for."

I'm not really sure what to look for about town. Maybe questions about the cyphers, and anything on the blot. Those two things should help us find an answer, I hope.

"I agree, Mario. Where do we start, though? Is this something from one of the Cyphergates, or is it the Blot, or something else entirely? Maybe a ritual of some sort? What kind of ritual would do this, and what cult would do it are two of my questions."

I'm not sure on the type of investigation, but I have an inkling that it has to do with the cyphermages, so I'd like to start there, if the rest of the party is willing.

"So, does anyone have any good ideas as to what's next?"

So, does anyone want to explore the magical mishap of the city, or do we deal with Clegg?

"What kind of wierd things happen around the Cyphergate? Anything that would act like this? Perhaps the magic of the Cyphergate is interacting with the blot or just expanding if that's the case... Which could be putting us all at risk."

Tsadok folds his arms and bows his head, his brow furrowed in thought. He looks up, but only for a moment, as he says:

"The other question I have is what triggered this."

"What of that cursed Blot in the sky? Does it produce effects like this?"

Tsadok walks back into the Goblin, a look of relief upon his face. He walks to Saul, "Well, the good news is that this occurred all up and down the street. The bad news, of course, is that it occurred up and down the street."

"Anyone got a clue as to what kind of magic this is, if that's what it truly is."

"Any ideas on what caused this?" Tsadok says, in a much quieter voice now that he realizes that this doesn't appear to be the assault everyone expects. "Wait, hold that thought."

Tsadok walks outside to see if it is only the Goblin, or if it's more widespread. He's also going to take stock of the problems within the Goblin caused by this strange effect.

Perception in the Goblin:
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29

Perception on the street:
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14

Tsadok doesn't even wait for more effects, going directly for the door to the main floor of the casino.

Hopefully the door opens. If it does he will dash into the main floor of the casino.

"Not good... not good... not good!!!" He thinks he mutters to himself, it's more of a dull roar to everyone else.

"Agreed Tipello. Although we shouldn't abandon our posts before the attack, a counterattack may be necessary to just tell him to stop. We don't want a fight, but we'll end any fight that he starts."

Tipello:

Spoiler:
Tsadok will take the heal check, he will wave down the magical assistance. "It's just a little bite," He shrugs.

"I don't like surprises like this. At least knowing about it makes life easier... even if we'll have to defend our lives and our employees' again. What else have you learned, friend? Anything of import to stopping or, perhaps, defending against the attack?"

Tsadok says, looking at his friend. Tsadok's left forearm has a bandage that looks more like a cast on it but otherwise looks ready for the normal crowd.

Tsadok has merely been taking his usual shifts in the rafters with Sam until Mario calls the meeting.

DM:

Spoiler:
How long is it after the... divination? If it's the day after, then I'll assume that Tsadok's at max hp minus 1. Also, thinking about the impending attack, the "make me bigger spell" would be handy from Sam, which Tsadok will ask for after the meeting with Mario, provided that the attack doesn't happen then.

If we need it, here's the "profession" (perception) roll for the casino this week:
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17

Spoiler:
"Well, are we better off knowing this now, Sam?" Tsadok says with a grimace where the quasit bit into his arm. He begins tearing part of his outfit to stem the bleeding. "Any ideas who knows about the key to removing the blot?"

DM:

Spoiler:
AND the dice luck continues. It may be several rounds before Tsadok hits again at this rate.

If this continues in this fasion, I think it is fair to say Tsadok isn't going to change tactics unless he has to, so the next round he'll also strike with a flurry of blows, I've gone ahead and rolled it too, just to see how horrid the luck is.

Strike one:
Attack:
1d20 ⇒ 15
Damage
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Strike two:
Attack:
1d20 ⇒ 13
Damage
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

DM:

Spoiler:

"Damnable beast!"
Flurry of Blows with the Kama:
Strike One:
Attack:
1d20 ⇒ 3
Damage
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Strike Two:
Attack:
1d20 ⇒ 2
Damage
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Lyre:

Spoiler:
I think we are each intended to be viewing our own side quests. Believe me, I don't really want what Tsadok's been doing to be public knowledge at the moment. It's been an... interesting day for him, by the way.

Spoiler:
"Ahh, now I see, you little Fiend!" Tsadok grins as he attacks.
Flurry of Blows with the Kama:
Strike One:
Attack:
1d20 ⇒ 2
Damage
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Strike Two:
Attack:
1d20 ⇒ 17
Damage
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

How many more rounds do I have left on the Enlarge Person? I'm getting concerned if that little Quasit can trip me... Tsadok will stay as far out as possible, but if this thing can hit Tsadok, then he's in big trouble probably... I'll comment in the discussion thread this weekend about the solitary things.

Spoiler:
Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
"What manner of beast are you?"

DM:

Spoiler:
Tsadok is standing at the end of his reach from the circle. Sorry for the delay I was sick.
Listen & attack again:
Listen:
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Attack:
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Damage
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Miss
1d100 ⇒ 10

Why is it that attacks don't work for Tsadok, but skills do? I can't even put these dice in the freezer to punish them!

DM:

Spoiler:
Well, still trapped then... Let's hope I can pinpoint better this time.
Attack:
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Damage:
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Miss:
1d100 ⇒ 30

Spoiler:
Evil blasted Quasits & their invisibility
Perception to try to find the square the blasted thing is hiding in:
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

If possible, a single attack with the kama:
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Damage:
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

"Fiend! Show yourself, lest we send you to your masters instead of this mercy!"

Spoiler:
GRR!! Crazy woman! Initiative roll:
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Spoiler:
So, Tsadok is standing there looking menacing for the demon... waiting for it to "poof" back to wherever it came from.

DM:

Spoiler:
Sorry, I've been ill... I'll try to post again on Thursday.
Crap. Three questions left, then.
4: Is the blot caused by something a mortal on this plane did?
5: Is the key to removing the blot within 50 miles of Riddleport?
6: Is there someone in Riddleport who knows where the key is?

DM:

Spoiler:

Thinking long and hard about this one.
1: Is it fiendish in nature?
2: (if 1 is yes) Demonic in nature?
3: Can the blot be removed?
4: (if 3 is yes) Is the key to removing the blot in Riddleport?
I'll need the above answers before I ask any of the others, please. I have a couple thoughts, but to solidify them, I need the first 4 answered.

Spoiler:
The Enlarger Person was an unexpected surprise there. Good work for Sam.
"Speak common, demon. We've got work for you to do. You're bound here and can be killed like any other being. So, listen to the offer, and agree. I've no use for a demon who won't do what it's told."

Tsadok crosses his now mighty tree trunk sized arms, insuring that his kama is in his hand ready to be used at a moment's notice.

"Sam, please describe to our... resident fiend what he needs to do to live."

Intimidate:
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

DM:

Spoiler:
Knowing that he's going to be facing a demon, and the DR is 5/Cold Iron or Good, He'll look for a Cold Iron monk weapon, specifically a Kama, so that he may flurry with it and quickly snuff out the demon if it becomes necessary. It will also help in the intimidation department. Any monk weapon will do, but the kama is preferable above all others, due to the inocuous nature of that.

DM:

Spoiler:
Tsadok sighs deeply. "Well, given the options... What do you need? We will not be doing this in the casino, by the way. That would invoke too much danger. Perhaps you know of somewhere quiet and out-of-the-way? I am not pleased with this option, but if it helps in our goal, then I'm willing to try."

"If this goes awry, then we take care of the problem quickly, and, given the origin of the creature, in its favorite brutal ecstasy."

DM Shisumo wrote:

DM:

Spoiler:
"Well... This is an interesting turn of events. Why a quasit? Why something... so... vile? Why not use something of the goodly planes?"

Tsadok thinks a moment. This is all quite the shock for him to hear. Taking a deep breath he begins to speak again:

"Worse, What happens if the spell goes awry? We mustn't get too far ahead of ourselves with this, lest the demon control one of us, if it is even capable of that. If this is beyond our ability to control, then I would strongly recommend against this. I can provide intimidation, yes, but why do that when a goodly being would serve without such... persuasions, and much less scrutiny under anyone's watchful eyes. Worse yet, how does one intimidate a demon?"

DM Shisumo wrote:
Anybody got any plans for the next week around the Goblin?

During off time, Tsadok is going to go over magical theory with Sam, mainly trying to understand it, as well as work on the problem that is the "blot." Other than that, a double shift at the Goblin would be fine with him. There's not a lot of action, and we cannot afford to lash back out even if we wanted to at this point. He will go over more security with the wait staff and the kitchen staff as well, reminding them to run to HIM if there's a major problem.

Perception rolls for the goblin:
Roll one:
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Roll two:
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25

DM Shisumo wrote:
You get to roll twice, remember?

Okay then. I'll roll a second check. Tsadok will talk to Sam.

Perception (second roll)
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24

"Thank you, Saul. I'll be sure to have them stop by."

Spoiler:
Tsadok will talk to Sam and let her know the pay won't be a lot (hey, it's work!), but he'll be able to get her work. She'll be detecting magical things coming into the casino, safely in the catwalks with Tsadok.

"Saul, if you please, I know someone with magical talent, who is looking for work at this time, who could prove quite valuable. I'm sure that the salary would be easily negotiated. However, the person I'm thinking of should not be part of the "normal" security, like me. I would only recommend them if they were to remain out of harm's way, only looking for the magical problems." Tsadok says. "As a matter of fact, they are doing research right now, and do have the requisite magical talent to find unwanted magical auras."

DM:

Spoiler:
Thanks for getting a way for Sam to come in. Any chance I could make her a follower or cohort at any point?

Oh, almost forgot the day job! Perception for cheats, liars, and general ne'er do wells:
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18

"Fair enough, thank you Tippello. What say you, Lyre?" Tsadok says earnestly.

"I want to know what I need to do to make security work here, if I don't have an idea, I can't do anything about it. Saul, perhaps it would be wise to bring someone with some magical talent up to the rafters to watch for something of this nature with me."

"How powerful is that sort of magic, Tippello? I want to know the general power level of those that are tormenting us if we can. A general range would be nice if you could." Tsadok inquires, his brow furrowed. "What do you want us to do, Saul? I'd be happy to look into it, but I would be hopelessly outnumbered, I'm sure. That, and not having any spellcasting talent of my own might prove to be a problem."

Yes, I know how powerful those things are OOC, but Tsadok really doesn't understand the general power levels of magic (yet).

Tsadok's former jovial facade disappears as he speaks once Martha has left.

"Saul, who does this type of thing? Was it one of Clegg's men? Perhaps someone who wants to do things to frame Clegg? These are important questions, as we should be able to stop this kind of behavior in the future if we know who to look for."

Tsadok thinks for a moment, "We shouldn't be this direct, though. There's not a good reason for that."

To Tipello, "Do we know if magic was involved in the basket?"

DM:

Spoiler:
Thinking about things with Sam, Tsadok will offer to pay her once he starts getting money from the casino. He'll give her half of what he earns (he doesn't use it anyways), so that she can focus full-time on the blot. There, she's happy, and Tsadok has a full-time researcher helping him. Given this evening's events, he'll be happy to prevent putting her in such harm's way. He will describe the evening to her the next time they talk.

DM Shisumo wrote:
As Tippello treats Lyre, Martha stirs and opens her eyes, looking around in confusion. At the same time, Saul bursts into the kitchen, looking around in confusion, Larur right behind him. "What's going on in here?" Saul cries, eyes widening at the sight of the dead snake. Larur looks shocked as well, but he moves first to check on Lyre and to speak quietly to Martha, taking her hand and helping her to slowly sit up.

Smiling to Saul, Tsadok says "We've got a new special for a couple of days. Antaniel and Mario've already insured the butchering. All we need now is an open fire and a tin can." Yes, he is talking about cooking the snake... all snakes are edible, even poisonous ones.

Speaking directly to Saul, "Outside of the new blue plate special, I believe your life is directly in danger, and this casino may be part of that danger."

DM:

Spoiler:
The reason Tsadok is joking about the snake is that if any of the patrons heard, they'll need a reason for the screaming. A good story would be the scary half-orc ordered a big snake to serve as a special... even though we all know that's not the case. And yes, snake tastes like chicken.

Tsadok will point out the basket as shown in the spoiler, and also observe:
"That snake's much too large for this basket. Perhaps a bit of magic was involved. Anyone see anything on the basket?"
