I have a favorite build that I like to use from time to time. Its not incredibly combat oriented, and it's effectiveness is largely dependent on the mood of the GM. What it does do very well is bluff. While this build isn't "good" its funny what you can convince some gullible NPCs to do with a high enough bluff score.
So here is Riten the Half Elf Sorcerer
Riten has always had a problem telling the truth. He was the son of a dishonest merchant, though if asked about his past he would probably tell a story about how he is the long lost, illegitimate son of the king. Since he discovered his arcane talents, he has been wandering from town to town, swindling people out of their money. If faced with combat he will try to either charm allies to fight for him or convince the other side he is an Avatar of Rovagug and he will smite them if they lay a hand on him.
