Appearance:

Tosen is slightly above average height. He has slightly long black hair that he keeps groomed but otherwise simply lets fall. His build seems average due to his robes, but below them he is as lean as a panther. He favors simple dress and understated colors. Mostly muted blues and white.

Background:

Tosun was born in Diobel to a fishing and pearl diving family. They were like most Diobelians, simple and hard working. Yet while Tosen was born to such a family with more then a few siblings, he was not so simple. In a few short years his parents noticed, Tosen did not grow like his siblings before him and those sense. His body was slow to age while his mind was not. It even seemed at times that he was naturally quicker to understand and learn then was normal. Concerned for their son, his parents took him to Absalom. Through an old family friend they were able to bring their son to the monks of Irori in the Irorium. In the temple below the arena above Tosen was studied and his nature known by the learned monks. They informed him and his family that he was an Aasimar, those blessed with the blood of angels. While he showed no sign of it, a rare but not unknown condition of the equally rare Aasimar. Their was no denying it. The monks spoke to them at length of the common differences between humans and aasimar, explaining his slow growth as the result of a rather extended lifespan. As well as his other natural gifts, yet they pointed out he was still talented in his own right beyond simply being an aasimar. His parents voiced concerns of his life back in Diobel, that he may be treated strangely or even exploited if his nature was known. The monks listened and offered to train the boy to adulthood where his lack of aging would not be easily noticed. In light of the benefits of being taken in by the learned monks and the safety of their son, they were inclined to accept but left the choice to Tosen. Having grown curious of the monks and their ways he agreed. From then on Tosen became an initiate of Irori.

After many years and finally reaching adulthood, Tosen chose to return to Diobel. Only to find his parents old and near death, his siblings long ago grown and married. They welcomed him none the less as family, while telling neighbors he was a visiting cousin. He stayed for a time, but knew it was no longer his true home. He was a monk of Irori with a calling of knowledge. So he left his family and sought to travel, to learn and experience the world.

He started by returning to Absalom, this time to study at it's many libraries and academies. After spending a few years as a scholar in Absalom, he returned to Diobel. Reconnecting with what was left of his family and the next generation they spawned. As before he did not stay long, leaving once more for another land in order to study and learn once more. This time he went to Qadira, towards the capital city of Katheer. Learning the lands history, ruins, and many ways. Tosen spent years with in the nameless temple monastery of Irori, splitting his time between their and the Venicaan College of Medicaments and Chirurgery. Yet as before his scholarly existence came to an end as he felt he had learned enough. Once more he returned to dear Diobel, just in time to bid his last sibling a final good bye. His original family had passed, he did not dwell on it. Offering prayers and leaving again to travel. This time making his way to Jalmeray the Kingdom of the Impossible and it's capital Niswan. There he found not only an intense worship of his chosen god Irori, but as well as a near limitless variation of the paths to perfection. Dozens of orders pursuing discipline and self improvement, he took it all in. He had been away from the more physical aspects of his journey for to long and found it once more in Niswan. He trained with many others in styles of martial arts he had never even heard of. Even trying his hand at some of the famed houses of perfection. There he absorbed a different kind of knowledge then he had before with tomes and observation.

Years passed and Tosen left Jalmeray, returning to Diobel yet again. His families decedents welcomed him as always. Yet this time he did not leave as quickly as all the times before. Tosen had seen and done much, collected knowledge, trained his body, and journeyed toward self improvement. None the less he felt a void, he felt lost. So he stayed in Diobel, diving for pearls and contemplating this lack of direction and drive. It was during this time he met a strange man called Osprey. A chelaxian but Diobel native none the less. They turned out to be quite a pair, sharing stories of many places and things. Osprey seemed to be as knowledgeable if not more so then he. The fire that had dimmed in Tosen, ignited once more with Osprey's tales. He told his friend that he would travel once more to the place of one of those tales, Varisia. If he did not find what he felt he lacked, he would return to Diobel and never leave again.

At first he toured the four major cities of Varisia, then the smaller towns and villages. Afterwards he spent most of his time exploring known ruins and discovering a fair amount of unknown ones as well. He wisely avoided the more dangerous or remote ruins, as his aim was knowledge not material wealth of any kind. He was absorbed with the ancient humans, Azlanti of not only Thassilon but Azlant. During his stay at the Floating Sphere of Mauffrey, he uncovered not only lost knowledge of that time but a revelation quill as well. He made use of the ancient artifact once, asking if he would find his purpose. It's answer is Tosen's secret and he left for Diobel the next day to seek out Osprey.

Upon his return he invited Osprey to eat so he could share his stories with the man. While Tosen does not remember the night completely, he found out that Osprey was a pathfinder and offered him a field commission in exchange for the quill and his notes. Apparently he accepted, along with a vow never to drink so much again. Tosen did not find this turn of events bad at all and renewed his convictions to follow Irori and his own path to perfection. He had regained his drive and thirst for knowledge.

Cover - Aenon Malas – Also a Varisian but a traveling Monk. Aenon spent years following the flow of destiny, changing ships and crews to let him travel even further away from his birthplace. This led him aboard the Emperors' Blessing, the ship of the renown Tian treasure-hunter Manami Doi and under her guidance he explored the seas from Minkai to the Cape of omens. Over the years, she taught Aenon everything she knew, from the Tian language, to navigating the seas and even the ways of the eastern mystics, and in her service Aenon became both a fierce warrior and talented sailor. When he attempted to return home, on what he decided would be his final voyage, fate intervened once more as he met a local about to board for a once in a lifetime Expedition, instead of getting off, he stayed on and here he is…
