backstory:

Tomin grew up a bit of a loner. He is from a small group of semi-nomadic families that live in the outskirts of towns until they get run off. They lived off the lands mostly, coming in for trade when necessary. It was on these trading trips that Tomin knew he wanted somethign else for his life. He was an excellent trapper and hunter, but he yearned for the technology of the big cities. Firearms that could drop a deer with a single hand, towering buildings hundreds of feet tall, that is where he wanted to be, that is what he wanted to have. When he came of age, he left his family behind and joined a group of mercenaries. His facination with technology fourished with every job. He spent what money he made on every book he could find. While he never had any psychic powers like many of his peers, his connection to technology, specifically metal, grew. He found that he was attuned to metal weapons and armor. He learned to use the weight of the metal to give himself increased momentum in battle. Where others were hindered by the weight of steel, it added to Tomin's strength. Eventually, when thinking about magnetism and it's power, he learned to lift and manipulate even nonmetallic items. He could build a sort of magnetic pull on wood and stone as easily as iron. Unfortunately, this connection came at a cost. The more he used this power, the more he found that when he was not careful, items near him would be flung away in the same way that he lifted others.

Tomin is a man of relatively simple tastes. He likes his books, technology, good food, strong drink, and loose women.
