Male Dwarf Monk/2

Tok wants to go back and teach the dwarven mayor how to talk to people who want to help his town. Tok's not backing down next time.

Male Dwarf Monk/2

I vote for Tian Xa.

Just kidding. Absalom's fine by me.

Male Dwarf Monk/2

Is this a new round of actions? Or am I done for the moment after kicking some dog ass?

Male Dwarf Monk/2

I'm along for the ride. Where you lead us, I will follow.

Male Dwarf Monk/2

Tok raises the brick to eye level, peering at it intently. "Based on my extensive knowledge on all things mineral, my conclusion is...it's stone." Looking up at Valen, he says, "I was a merchant's son. I do not have the extensive knowledge of stonework that many of my people do." Hefting the brick from hand to hand, he does take a closer look. "Wait a minute...this is something...maybe..."

Appraise Check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

"Bah. I know nothing of it. I've spent too many years breaking stone, not studying it."

Male Dwarf Monk/2

I think I'm going with the flowing monk. I'll combine that with the drunken master to create a fluidly, stumbling, deadly monk.

Male Dwarf Monk/2

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

Male Dwarf Monk/2

HP Roll: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Boo.

I just got UC today, so I'll take a gander through it and see if anything sparks my interest. I don't suppose any of you have found anything special I should consider for Tok, have you?

Male Dwarf Monk/2

Tok takes a small step, cracks his knuckles and wails on the nearest skeleton.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Male Dwarf Monk/2

I attack the skeleton I am flanking with Torque.

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15 for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Male Dwarf Monk/2

"What does the changing of the guards entail? Do we have time to slip in while that's happening?"

Male Dwarf Monk/2

Tok, feeling the strength of the bones, prepares another attack, this time using his palms.

Flurry of Blows
To Hit1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
To Hit1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Male Dwarf Monk/2

"It seems there is little choice at this juncture. I will stand and walk with you." Tok says.

As the mugs of ale are passed, he nearly accepts one, but upon catching Mathalen's intent gaze, passes.

Male Dwarf Monk/2

But look how wonderful it is now that one's in the game? Right? Right? Is this thing on? Hello?

Male Dwarf Monk/2

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Tok moves forward, pummeling the nearest skeleton with his fists.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Male Dwarf Monk/2

"I hope he sticks around longer. Even a fight with the remnant of a being is less unnerving than having one flit in and out of view." Tok says, cracking his knuckles.

Male Dwarf Monk/2

Do I need to do something to move the narrative along? Are we waiting on the lovable, cuddly dwarf to lead the charge to the mansion?

Male Dwarf Monk/2

Hey guys. I'm really sorry - it looks like I won't be able to post much until Sunday. I'll be back, though! Should it be necessary, Torque can take my actions and speak my words until I return.

Male Dwarf Monk/2

Last time I spoke, a dwarf turned angry and summoned an angry-looking hammer. I thought it best I kept my mouth shut. I think those in the room are simply awaiting direction and a job from the mayor.

Male Dwarf Monk/2

I feel like that escalated really quickly. Tok's an ass, yes, but I can't imagine that his words would push somebody that far that quickly.

I feel like adjusting my ability scores to go down to 5 Charisma. That might be kind of fun to see what kind of trouble I can get The Carnival in to.

Male Dwarf Monk/2

"That fool isn't worthy of his post," Tok says to Torque under his breath as they walk out of the house. "Perhaps when we're done with the business for the town, we should return to deal with him. Though I don't suppose that gel of yours can help me match his size, can it?"

Male Dwarf Monk/2

Anyone want to elect Tok the new face of the party? Geez...

Male Dwarf Monk/2

Tok is unmoved by the dwarf's outburst. "Our manners are of little importance, mayor. We have taken a job. That job is to rid your town of the evil that plagues it. We will carry out our job with or without your help."

He pauses, struggling with what words to use next. "If my words that insult you carry more weight than your obligation to the people who selected you to be their leader, I believe you are not fit for them follow. The people in this town have shown nothing but kindness to us and do not deserve to suffer because of your pride."

Tok finishes a stern look on his face. He is calm, but he is angry.

Male Dwarf Monk/2

"Little time, indeed. It is obvious you don't get out much any more. Surely you've seen how the people under your care are suffering? And your solution is to pay bandits to do your work? It seems whatever devotion you had to Desna has aged and weakened as you have."

I'm charisma 8.

Male Dwarf Monk/2

So should I take lookout, too? Or can I be of assistance in any other way?

Male Dwarf Monk/2

Tok hangs near the back of the group. He is surprised to see that the mayor is a dwarf, but somehow manages to hold his tongue for once.

Male Dwarf Monk/2

So do two people have to take the same feat, or do we take them as a squad? I've never played with teamwork feats before.

Male Dwarf Monk/2

Where would one find a nice list of teamwork feats?

And does one have to be likeable/eat pancakes to take advantage of said feats?

Male Dwarf Monk/2

Tok sneezes and then continues eating.

Male Dwarf Monk/2

Satisfied that the argument is won, Tok finishes his small meal. He does reach for several more slices of bread, but refuses - with difficulty - the pancakes. His refusal is one of stubbornness more than piety. He studies Valen as he eats the pancakes.

Perception Check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

Male Dwarf Monk/2

I'm about to freak out somebody. If they make me eat a pancake, so help me.

Fortunately, as I'm a nice guy, it will just be a nonlethal flurry of punches and kicks to his face.

Male Dwarf Monk/2

Tok glowers at Valen. "I don't doubt their deliciousness. But, I have taken a vow of sacrifice - not excess. Already I am violating my vow. Do you wish that I neglect my faith completely?"

Male Dwarf Monk/2

Tok, still uncomfortable with this lavish spread, only takes a slice of bacon, a helping of fruit and a slice of warm bread. "I apologize for appearing ungrateful, Miri and Helena. My thanks."

Male Dwarf Monk/2

"This is not right. We have done nothing to earn this."

Male Dwarf Monk/2

As Valen walks by, Tok says, "I am sure the undead will appreciate the care you have taken to look nice for them. But perhaps you are wise: surely the flavor of flowers and spices on one's flesh is unpleasant to their kind."

Male Dwarf Monk/2

In complete solemnness, Tok says, "Once, the monastery's cook prepared an exotic meal that created a similar inside-out explosion from all of the monks. It wasn't nearly as deadly, but it was terrifying. And ass-kicking."

Male Dwarf Monk/2

"If it was Grimtaur, I'd like to pay his manor a visit sooner rather than later. The walking dead and spirits of those passed don't make for a pleasant watch. Or a safe caravan. If you don't mind, I think I will stay and take part in the watch with you. I don't know if what we saw had bad intentions, but I'd rather not be asleep if so."

With that, Tok settles in around the fire. "Fury, why don't you share a story with us to pass the time. Surely a soldier such as yourself has a tale or two."

Male Dwarf Monk/2

Sorry - I don't want to miss my term to be seduced.

Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Male Dwarf Monk/2

I'm game. Do I have to be a bastard in my emails, too?

Male Dwarf Monk/2

Tok turns towards Nine Tail, his eyes piercing through the darkness, looking for another sign of the rider. "Thank the master, I was worried my eyes were playing tricks on me. Should we wake the others?" Waiting for Nine Tail's reply, Tok peers into the night, searching for a sign of movement or the mysterious rider.

Perception Check -> 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

Male Dwarf Monk/2

What's the policy on taking multiple features from archetypes? Is that allowed? Assuming, of course, that the abilities don't overlap.

Male Dwarf Monk/2

"Did we get a new corporal? You're a bossy one, Fury." With that, Tok heads to his pack and sits, closes his eyes and begins mouthing a silent prayer. A few moments later he is completely still and asleep.

Male Dwarf Monk/2

"Did I hear we were doubling the watch tonight? I can take first watch - who's with me?"

Male Dwarf Monk/2

Just to be clear, all of us know all of this now, right? We've come back together and debriefed?

Male Dwarf Monk/2

Whoa. What happened to Squad 1? Did it implode?

Male Dwarf Monk/2

I don't have any grand plans for Tok. A monk, by nature, is relatively unoptimized, so I'm playing for fun more than eeking out every point possible. That said, I'd like to explore the drunken master and perhaps incorporate a vow of some type from UM. Additionally, once UC comes out, if you're open to it, I might incorporate some interesting monk changes from that.

As for where Tok is going in-character, I'm not quite sure yet. I think it might be kind of fun to enter some kind of arena/colosseum event as a unit, as that's what inspired Tok ton enter the monastery in the first place.

Male Dwarf Monk/2

That raises a good point Gremm - Does anyone have some aspect of their character they would like the group to help highlight and provide opportunities for (such as my potential drunkenness and Torque's nerdy explanations)?

Male Dwarf Monk/2

I think it's been great. On the GM side, the posts are frequent enough and move the story forward appropriately - I've played some PbP where the GM doesn't push the story forward, choosing to treat it more like a RL game. I like that we're not drawing out anything too much.

I was curious about the pacing of leveling - are you coordinating with the other DMs to keep each squad around the same level? There was talk of swapping out squad folks down the line, and that will be difficult if it's unbalanced.

As for the PCs, I'm loving everyone's character development. I really do agree with everything Fury said and Acune added.

Male Dwarf Monk/2

"Look into it regardless? You are noble. But I'm not sure our employer would appreciate our abandoning our post. We have been hired to accompany the caravan. Shouldn't we complete that contract first?"

Male Dwarf Monk/2

"I'm tired of this. Are we ready to go back to caravan and meet up with the others or is there more for us to do here?"
