About Tok Kenai

Background:
Tok’s great-grandfather Naknek, a priest of Shizuru, and his family were forced out of their home in Minkai, taking almost nothing except for Morning Light, the family’s ancient katana. They joined with a ship crew, Naknek acting as a jinx eater, and fled to Varisia. They settled near Sandpoint and made a life for themselves.
Tok was born in this home to his parents, Koyuk and Tanana. His father is an accomplished carpenter in the Sandpoint Carpenter’s Guild, specializing in furniture. Tok has been carving small sculptures since he was a small child and has become quite good at it. As he grew older he began to make training weapons for the town guard on commission as well as helping his father with furniture for various customers in Sandpoint. Tok’s mother, Tanana, is a retired Paladin of Shizuru and has trained Tok in the religion since before he could walk. She has trained him in the art of the sword and instilled in him a desire to train others to defend themselves and to protect those who cannot protect themselves. When his mother deemed him ready, she bestowed to him Morning Light, reminding him that it was just another tool and that it should only be used when necessary. Tok was humbled by this and vowed to bring honor to his ancestors and his family.
The Kenai’s have always been friends with Mvashti family, building furniture for them and generally helping, in recent years, to take care of Madame Niska. As such, Tok has been around Koya for much of his life and has always looked up to her. He has traveled with her as a caravan guard and companion on her journeys the last few seasons and has come to enjoy her company and wisdom. Just prior to her passing, Madame Niska called Tok to visit with her. She asked that after she was gone if he would watch over Koya whenever she went traveling. Tok vowed that he would and thus bound himself to Koya. When she mentioned to him that she was preparing for a long journey to Minkai, Tok was excited for the chance to return to his ancestral homeland and told his parents that he was leaving. They gave him there blessing and reminded him to watch over Koya and anyone else who couldn’t protect themselves on the road.

Apperance:

Tok is a well build tengu with blue-black colorings. He is well muscled from years of hauling wood for carving, but is also deft on his feet.

Personality:

Tok is an out going person who likes to listen and learn from others. He tends to weigh his words before committing to anything, as he views his word as his bond and holds that very highly. He is committed to protecting those who cannot protect themselves, either with word or action. He will always allow an enemy to surrender if possible.

Comfort Limit:

I'm pretty comfortably with most anything as long as it isn't too raunchy. I prefer to work together and not have drama.

GM Questions:

-Who are you and how are you doing? - I'm doing well. I have enjoyed PBP for awhile, even if a few of the campaigns have ended abruptly.

-How often do you tend to post? - I try to post at least once a day although on weekends it may only be once per weekend.

-What kind of tone are you looking for in this game? - I'm looking for a story of a great journey, both in the way of physical travel as well as character development/growth.

-What do you expect out of your fellow players? - I'm looking for my fellow players to build a great story together, overcoming whatever obstacles rise, and to keep the story moving forward.

-What do you expect out of me (the GM)? - I expect the GM to help us (PC's) to advance the story and build the world.

-What is your comfort zone? Where's the line for you in RP terms? -I'm comfortably with most anything. I don't want the romance aspect to get to raunchy and would prefer that it be more tasteful.

-How do you see your character progressing as a character? - I look for Tok growing as a defender of those around him and to bring honor to his family by being honorable himself and holding to his word.
