About Tobar Johnson

Tobar is a 9 year old boy who comes from a moderately well off peasant family. Like his parents he worships Desna although he isn't particularly devout and certainly doesn't have a great grasp on what that means.

He is, basically, a pretty good boy. He cheerfully does his chores and mostly obeys his parents. He even sometimes listens to his bossy sister. He loves all animals and would never harm an animal without need. He regularly makes friends with animals

His bestest friend in the whole world is the young cub Brina. He discovered her as a kit who had apparently been abandoned by her mother (or her mother had died). He saved her life and they have been inseparable friends ever since. Brina is an amazingly smart animal, smarter than his younger brother as he likes to boast.

Tobar has three sets of overlapping chores. Sometimes he helps his mother while she is outhunting, carrying game, acting as a beaster, etc. In order to do this he has actually become quite athletic and remarkably good with his sling. Sometimes he helps her in the butchers shop. Sometimes he helps his father in the vegetable garden or helps to gather herbs that grow wild in the forest.

Although he doesn't really realize that is what he is doing he has picked up the ability to throw some magic. He hides this ability from any and all adults as he is somewhat afraid of it and somewhat embarassed by it. He is also totally unaware that it is HIS ability that can make Brina sometimes do amazing things (Hunters tricks). He just thinks that she is special that way.
