"And how would you right these wrongs? What could you do that would not draw the ire of the Hellknights? You bring me empty promises and for what? Sponsorship? Look around, I'm a noble in name alone. No servants, barely enough funds to keep our warehouses operating and weekly payments to keep disease out of my father's twisted legs. If you came seeking aid, then I'm afraid I can do little to help your... cause," the young noble spat, his situation obviously wearing on him. He turned from the woman, his anger rising at what he perceived to be her insolence. However a part of him yearned to be free of the obligations he had to his family, to turn his back on what was expected of him and live life once again. In the past, he would have called out the man he suspected of ordering his mother's death and duelled him to the death. Now, though, he was the only one who could keep his family alive, or at least what was left of it. "I admire your boldness, I do. Nothing you can do will break the hold that Thrune has over this city though. What could you possibly hope to achieve?"
Tito stared at the woman for a moment, carefully wording his reply. For all he knew, this could be a Drovenge agent trying to lure him into a trap of open rebellion. "The dottari will catch my mother's killer," he said, trying to hold back tears, "When they do, I will make sure the Hellknightshave them. " Nothing in his tone said he believed his words.
Tito was about to sit at his father's ledger to attempt to balance the books to keep the warehouses available for a further month when he heard the knocking. Glancing at the window, he realised it was almost mid-morning. An odd time for an assassin to come calling but recently, Tito couldn't be complacent. As he walked through the corridors, after all he had fired the staff in an attempt to stop the family coffers leaking money as quickly as they had been, he prepared himself to cast Color Spray on whoever was standing at the other side of the door. The incessant rapping on the door grew in volume as he neared the outer door to his family manor. It had an almost urgent tone to it, but that only served to make Tito even more cautious. For all he knew, it could be a vengeful ex-member of staff looking to kill their erstwhile employer. "Who is it?" Tito called out, trying to keep his voice flat and emotionless to hide his nervousness, "I'm not expecting any visitors." Tito will be listening out for any signs of there being more than one person beyond the wooden door, as well as trying to detect any signs of deceit when the person answers. Perception 1d20 ⇒ 17
I would think that the biggest thing you'd know about Tito's family would be that his mother was murdered during a break-in that left his father with both legs broken. Street rumors might have it that House Drovenge was behind the attack but few would ever openly court that opinion in public earshot. Tito has spent the past few months attempting to rebuild his father's empire but finds himself stonewalled at every turn. Tito's family is an offshoot of the main House whose fortunes have not been affected by the problems that his family have undergone. Indeed, his family were something of a black sheep in the family when Tito's father, Jairo, married a common woman.
Fair enough. As the father of a month old newborn, I should get at least one post in a day. However, I work over an hour from my home so if I don't get a post in during any given period then feel free to DMPC Tito for any require actions. Tito is still very much a family man, determined to get revenge on House Drovenge for what they did to his mother. Once he learns of the plot to overthrow the rulers of Westcrown he will gladly join with them but will act in a way that will not affect his own family. Assassination is a way of life in the noble houses but he would not play part in the a outright daylight confrontation without some form of disguise, hence his knowing Disguise Self, which I plan to use to implicate House Drovenge at any opportunity.
Tito Grulios, reporting for duty. While I shall keep the main sheet in Hero Lab, I will track health and consumables in the profile. I shall update just now. Also, Tito resides in Rego Laino at his father's estate. Mechanically, this does nothing as his father's business is bankrupt and it is only by the good graces of the Grulios family at large that they remain there, in case Tito actually makes something of himself. |
