Tiraka is torn between instincts and ambitions. While he relishes the hunt and enjoys being a wild feline predator, he also knows that his kind will not remain free forever without earning that freedom. What little Kindaur history exists reminds him of the purpose for which his kind were created: to serve humanoids in battle. To this end, he sought out the FCC, ironically enough, to serve that selfsame purpose.
Tempering his predatory instincts and proud independence was not easy. Consciously acting to suppress his primal instincts, he threw himself into his training as a mount and bodyguard to humanoid partners, learning how to move differently with a rider, and act with more awareness and concern for the safety of the creature on his back. More than once, however, he found himself badly injuring partners who carelessly forgot that he was not a stupid beast to be tamed, but a partner to be understood and respected. He quickly developed a reputation as a "wild one," and soon found that riders were usually small and overly timid in handling him, and wards under his protection were larger, more arrogant, and brazenly apathetic of his standards of respect. The former usually left his partnership before long, and the latter were reassigned when their injuries failed to improve their common sense.
Tiraka endeavors to earn the trust and respect of the other races so as to better represent his kind and ensure their future as part of the world, rather than slaves to it. He seeks acceptance, but cannot seem to tolerate indignity for long, and he knows that if he does not find a suitable partner to help put on a good face for society, he will earn only fear and abuse for his race...or worse.
