My players just fought against the giant tarantula in Ascanor Lodge while the halfling porter Belik rummaged through their possessions in their room. As one of the characters is a bladebound magus his sentient blade witnessed the intrusion and will inform its owner.

As written the adventure does not intend to expose Belik as the intruder so I will have to change the course of events slightly.
Belik will probably claim that he thought that the characters were working for the werewolves and that he wanted to make sure that the lodge was safe. However, the characters will not believe him and I think that in the end Estovion Lozarov will be interrogated.

Did something like this happen in your campaign? How did the players react and what did Belik and Estovion do? At what point did Estovion attack the characters and flee?

Thank you, Yakman. I will try to find and have a look at it. Judging from the synopsis and reviews this may be suitable.

Thank you, unfortunately this group already played Carrion Hill so I have to find something else.

Hello!

I'm looking for ideas or even a short published adventure I can insert between “Broken Moon” and “Wake of the Watcher” that will allow one of the PCs (a monk trained in Osirion) to explore his own backstory.

The PC was born a farmer's son in a small and relatively poor village. His family's farmland was quite fertile while the other farmers' crop was only meager. Because of this their neighbors grew envious, spreading superstitious rumors.
When the PC was 11 years old a fire destroyed his parent's house in the middle of the night, killing all other family members. The boy was left unharmed but couldn't remember what happened that night.
Grudgingly other villagers took him in until his uncle, a widely travelled merchant, arrived two months later and took the orphaned boy with him. That was 14 years ago and the PC never returned to his old home. Until now.

I would like the group to stumble into the PC's old home village in Versex on their way to Thrushmore and have an adventure based on his backstory.
I was thinking about relocating the Colour Out of Space from “Wake of the Watcher” to this village, having crashed into the farmstead inside a meteorite and burning it to the ground. But wile I like the idea of a Lovecraftian character background I don't know how to fill the gap the Colour would leave in WotW.

So, what else could have caused the fire? Are there any short scenarios that can be adapted to fit this backstory or do you have any comments regarding the Colour Out of Space?

Thanks for your help!

I may have made a mistake when combining the idea of having AA sending letters to the PCs (see "Letters from the main villain") and also introducing him to them in person.

After concluding THoH the PCs received a letter signed with "A" congratulating them on their success and also mentioning regret about Petros Lorrimor's death.
Thinking that this was not enough I also decided to have the PCs meet AA in person during TotB. They met him talking to Judge Deramid after the second day of the trial and were introduced to him. When he learned that they were the people he had sent the letter to he got intrigued which they noticed. They also learned that he was one of the professor's students.
One of the PCs got suspicious and suspects that Adivion Adrissant could be "A". However, I don't know yet if she wants to further investigate. While I don't want to stop her from doing so I also don't want to reveal too much just yet.

I just hope that the names "Alpon Caromarc" and "Auren Vrood" will avert her suspicion.

Hello!

I would like to flesh out the backstory of one of my player's Black Blade and hope that you can help me with it as I'm not very familiar with Golarion and its history.

The player decided to change her Magus to the Bladebound Archetype just before their group started exploring Harrowstone. At this point she already owned a masterwork longsword she wanted to turn into her Black Blade and we agreed that I would come up with a backstory and mission that would fit into the Carrion Crown adventure path. The weapon had been bequeathed to her in Petros Lorrimor's last will but didn't have its own story then.

This is what the Magus knows so far:
In the basement of Harrowstone the blade activated when soot covering the walls suddenly rose up and bonded with the sword turning it black.
The sword claimed to have no memory of its past but soon remembered its name to be “Caz-Duhul” although it didn't know what it meant.
The Magus questioned Ravengro's smith Jorfa about the sword who told her that it was of dwarven craftsmanship although she didn't know where and by whom it was forged. However, she was sure that it was more than 200 years old and that the name “Caz-Duhul” was not dwarven but probably ancient Varisian.

These are other “facts” I would like to use for the Black Blade's backstory:
it was forged ca. 3.800 AR by the dwarves of Kragoddan
a dying dwarf gave it to a Knight of Ozem during the Shining Crusade
it became somehow a special weapon when its owner fought alongside the demigoddess Arazni after she was summoned by the Knights
it's purpose is to fight the Whispering Tyrant and the Whispering Way
it is inhabited and powered by a soul that also gives advise to its wielder and that can be released when it has completed its mission
the current soul inside it belongs to Petros Lorrimor who will regain his memories over time

The group is now in Lepidstadt for the Trial of the Beast and I intend to give the Magus a little bit more information via Dr. Montagnie Crowl and maybe Kendra Lorrimor who is reading her dead father's records.
Dr. Crowl can roughly translate the name to “spirit trap“ or “soul vessel” while Kendra will find out how Lorrimor acquired the sword.

Does anyone have a suggestion how the sword ended up in Lorrimor's possession? A painting at Schloss Caromarc or a member of the Esoteric Order of the Palatine Eye could provide some information but what exactly? Maybe there were other owners that wielded the Black Blade? Are there any NPCs or organizations in later volumes that can provide clues to its past?

Thank you for your help!
