This is really interesting and I love this idea.
Looking forward to hearing more about this.
I have a lot of Witch Prestige classes coming out in Strange Brew. It's been a little delayed in editing (it is much larger than anticipated), but here is a freebie. Daughter of Baba Yaga Prestige Class.

I stick with "Witch" for male witches since Witches and Warlocks are different things in my games.
Currently working on a Witch and Warlock book for Pathfinder.
Thanks everyone for your pledges! I will try to answer any and all questions as I can. My day job is blocking all "game" sites so I can't get to this during normal business hours unless I use my phone. Slumber Hex: No plans as of yet, but I can certainly address it in a blog post or a sidebar. Frankly the Slumber Hex is the only reason my witch survived 1st level. Eastern Witches: Again, no plans of yet, but right now we have an over-abundance of great great content. It is certainly something that I could think about. Banning Hexes: I am not in favor of that myself, BUT I certainly want to provide enough that if a GM wanted to only use a subset for witches, a different set for warlocks and a different set for divine witches then they should be allowed to do that. I am all about options and freedom. Liber, Way and other books: Liber will be superseded by this book. The best parts of it will be here. We don't have republish rights for the others, but I want to work something out for the OSR Witch book at least. Hope that helps!
Just as a reminder I am also talking about this project a lot over at my own blog at http://timbrannan.blogspot.com/. Stop by and say hello!

I like Voodoo. A lot. But I go back and forth on it a lot too. Yes, I have stuff written for it, not sure if it will make the cut yet or not.
Christina Stiles wrote: We will consider various ideas, but the Ultimate Shaman, the book up next by Rich Howard, will venture into witchdoctor territory. Allow me to say that I REALLY psyched about the Ultimate Shaman. I think it is going to be a great book too. I'll be the first on to pledge on that kickstarter.

Thanks! I loved it too! But I was focusing just on the d20 stuff for this post.As for the Hexcrafter...well I have read so much over the last few months that I am sure it is there somewhere, but I need to look again. Tim

Not exactly. These were something I came up with for Liber Mysterium back in 2003. Basically they were a layout of classes and levels to get a desired effect. So for example I had a "Green Witch" which was a multi-classed Witch and Druid. I believe 15 levels of witch and 5 levels of druid. I replotted the BAB, saves and spell and power progression. Yes it was mechanically a multi-class, but thematically something new. Hope that helps.
goeticgeek wrote: Combined, both Christina and Tim have written a number of books on witches and warlocks. Could you give us a breakdown on the different books, what makes them different, and what past works will most influence the current project and in what way? Has there been any thoughts about having Tim or Christina's other books as add-ons, stretch goals or other pledge levels. How about an Ultimate Witch Fan or Multi-System Witch pledge level that includes pdf and/or print copies of The Witch, Way of the Witch, Liber Mysterium, and Eldritch Witchery or some other combination of the above? goeticgeek, I'd love to be able to offer those too. I will need to talk with my publisher at Elf Lair Games. Ok so what makes UW&W, well...Ultimate?
When the whole Old School thing hit, I shelved UW&W and produced "The Witch for Basic Era Games" and then later "Eldritch Witchery". Christina approached me about a potential Pathfinder book and asked if I had material. I turned around and gave her 500+ pages of things I have been working on. UW&W is the spiritual successor to "Liber Mysterium", but also to "Way of the Witch" a product I very much loved. If you liked either of those then you are likely to like this one. With Liber I have had another 10 years of playing witches in a d20/3.x game and have made many tweaks that only real play can afford you. Let me say this. I am so excited about this. Not only do I have a ton of great material, but the idea of getting it all together for the first time in one book is fantastic. Hope that helps!
Demons, Devils and the like are always an option. But I also want to have support of all sorts of Patrons of Power. So ancient Fey, mysterious beings from beyond the stars, eldritch spirits and I am even toying with the idea of ancient primal dragons. Patrons have a 1000 reasons to want a human servant. So yes, you can play a wicked witch, but also neutral witches and good witches.
I LOVED the Green Ronin Witch book too. And I have already converted much of my old 2nd ed Witch netbook over to 3.x over the years. Not to mention all the material I have been posting to my blog for the last 6 years and the stuff I write that I have has no home for yet. I am so excited about doing this and glad that Christina is also pulling together some great people to work with it.
Hey all! Thanks so much for the interest. I am going to be more active here than in the past. Sadly my Pathfinder game fell apart.
I honestly have hundreds and hundreds of pages of things I have written and I want this to be one of the best books I have done. |
