![]() So I have been thinking for sometime about how there should be sun blade variants. Swords that wield as a light weapon but deal one handed damage, while also having appropriately thematic abilities. So lets start with the original, the sun blade. Sun Blade:
Sun Blade
Aura moderate evocation; CL 10th; Weight 2 lbs.; Price 50,335 gp DESCRIPTION This sword is the size of a bastard sword. However, a sun Blade is wielded as if it were a short sword with respect to weight and ease of use. In other words, the weapon appears to all viewers to be a bastard sword, and deals bastard sword damage, but the wielder feels and reacts as if the weapon were a short sword. Any individual able to use either a bastard sword or a short sword with proficiency is proficient in the use of a sun Blade. Likewise, Weapon Focus and Weapon Specialization in short sword and bastard sword apply equally, but the benefits of those feats do not stack. In normal combat, the glowing golden Blade of the weapon is equal to a +2 bastard sword. Against evil creatures, its enhancement bonus is +4. Against Negative Energy Plane creatures or undead creatures, the sword deals double damage (and ×3 on a critical hit instead of the usual ×2). The Blade also has a special sunlight power. Once per day, the wielder can swing the Blade vigorously above his head while speaking a command word. The sun Blade then sheds a bright yellow radiance that acts like bright light and affects creatures susceptible to light as if it were natural sunlight. The radiance begins shining in a 10-foot radius around the sword wielder and extends outward at 5 feet per round for 10 rounds thereafter, to create a globe of light with a 60-foot radius. When the wielder stops swinging the sword, the radiance fades to a dim glow that persists for another minute before disappearing entirely. All sun Blades are of good alignment, and any evil creature attempting to wield one gains one negative level. The negative level remains as long as the sword is in hand and disappears when the sword is no longer wielded. This negative level cannot be overcome in any way (including by restoration spells) while the sword is wielded. CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS Feats Craft Magic Arms and Armor; Spells daylight; Special creator must be good; Cost 25,335 gp Since we started with good, lets follow with evil. Shadow Blade:
]Aura moderate evocation; CL 10th; Weight 2 lbs.; Price 50,335 gp DESCRIPTION This sword is the size of a bastard sword. However, a shadow blade is wielded as if it were a short sword with respect to weight and ease of use. In other words, the weapon appears to all viewers to be a bastard sword, and deals bastard sword damage, but the wielder feels and reacts as if the weapon were a short sword. Any individual able to use either a bastard sword or a short sword with proficiency is proficient in the use of a shadow blade. Likewise, Weapon Focus and Weapon Specialization in short sword and bastard sword apply equally, but the benefits of those feats do not stack. In normal combat, the dark, blue-steeled blade of the weapon is equal to a +2 bastard sword. Against good creatures, its enhancement bonus is +4. Against Positive Energy Plane creatures or angels, the sword deals double damage (and ×3 on a critical hit instead of the usual ×2). The blade also has a special shadow power. Once per day, the wielder can swing the blade vigorously above his head while speaking a command word. The shadow blade then sheds a shadowy radiance that acts like darkness and affects creatures with darkvision as though it's deeper darkness. The shadow begins spreading in a 10-foot radius around the sword wielder and extends outward at 5 feet per round for 10 rounds thereafter, to create a globe of shadows with a 60-foot radius. When the wielder stops swinging the sword, the shadows fade to a dim haze that persists for another minute before disappearing entirely. All shadow blades are of evil alignment, and any good creature attempting to wield one gains one negative level. The negative level remains as long as the sword is in hand and disappears when the sword is no longer wielded. This negative level cannot be overcome in any way (including by restoration spells) while the sword is wielded. CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS Feats Craft Magic Arms and Armor; Spells deeper darkness; Special creator must be evil; Cost 25,335 gp Lets follow that with a lawful version Law Blade (I lack originality):
Aura moderate evocation; CL 10th; Weight 2 lbs.; Price 50,318 gp DESCRIPTION This sword is the size of a longsword. However, a law blade is wielded as if it were a dagger with respect to weight and ease of use. In other words, the weapon appears to all viewers to be a longsword, and deals longsword damage, but the wielder feels and reacts as if the weapon were a dagger. Any individual able to use either a longsword or a dagger with proficiency is proficient in the use of a law blade. Likewise, Weapon Focus and Weapon Specialization in dagger and longsword apply equally, but the benefits of those feats do not stack. In normal combat, the glowing white blade of the weapon is equal to a +2 longsword. Against chaotic creatures, its enhancement bonus is +4. Against Lawful Plane creatures, and demons the sword deals double damage (and ×3 on a critical hit instead of the usual ×2). The blade also has a special radiance power. Once per day, the wielder can swing the blade vigorously above his head while speaking a command word. The lawful blade then sheds a bright white radiance that acts like bright light and affects chaotic creatures susceptible to law as if it were under the effects of a doom spell. All law blades are of lawful alignment, and any chaotic creature attempting to wield one gains one negative level. The negative level remains as long as the sword is in hand and disappears when the sword is no longer wielded. This negative level cannot be overcome in any way (including by restoration spells) while the sword is wielded. CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS Feats Craft Magic Arms and Armor; Spells doom; Special creator must be lawful; Cost 25,318 gp Last, is the Chaos blade to continue the theme: Chaos Blade:
Aura moderate evocation; CL 10th; Weight 2 lbs.; Price 50,318 gp DESCRIPTION This sword is the size of a falcata. However, a confusion blade is wielded as if it were a kukri with respect to weight and ease of use. In other words, the weapon appears to all viewers to be a falcata, and deals falcata damage, but the wielder feels and reacts as if the weapon were a kukri. Any individual able to use either falcata or a kukri with proficiency is proficient in the use of a chaos blade. Likewise, Weapon Focus and Weapon Specialization in kukri and falcata apply equally, but the benefits of those feats do not stack. In normal combat, the mirrored blade of the weapon is equal to a +2 falcata. Against lawful creatures, its enhancement bonus is +4. Against Axiomatic Plane creatures, and devils the sword deals double damage (and ×3 on a critical hit instead of the usual ×2). The blade also has a special misfortune power. Once per day, the wielder can swing the blade vigorously above his head while speaking a command word. The chaos blade then sheds a mist that acts like the misfortune hex. The mist begins spreading in a 10-foot radius around the sword wielder and extends outward at 5 feet per round for 10 rounds thereafter, to create a globe of mist with a 60-foot radius. When the wielder stops swinging the sword, the mist fades to a haze that persists for another minute before disappearing entirely. (All creatures in the radius gain the misfortune hex effect as long as the sword is swung around. Once the wielder stops, the effect is only active every other round). All chaos blades are of chaotic alignment, and any lawful creature attempting to wield one gains one negative level. The negative level remains as long as the sword is in hand and disappears when the sword is no longer wielded. This negative level cannot be overcome in any way (including by restoration spells) while the sword is wielded. CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS Feats Craft Magic Arms and Armor; Spells misdirection hex; Special creator must be chaotic; Cost 25,318 gp As I finish this post, I realized I didn't think of a variant for neutral. I will have to think on that one. Please let me know your thoughts on my interpretations for different alignment variants of the sunblade. ![]()

![]() First, I searched 'Adopted' and got several threads confirming my initial understanding of the trait. I then searched Enlightened Warrior, and while I think I understand what was said, I need some further clarification. I would like to quote a Pathfinder approved text/site/whatever to show I've done my due diligence on the matter. Adopted:
Benefit: As a result, you picked up a race trait from your adoptive parents and society, and may immediately select a race trait from your adoptive parents' race. Okay Adopted works for Race traits, not Racial. Got it, no problem. Enlightened Warrior: The following are race traits for idyllkin. Enlightened Warrior: You have always found it easy to
Therefore you need to be an idyllkin to take this race trait. I cannot find anywhere in the Pathfinder Player's Companion: Blood of Angels that this is a heritage feat. Therefore, are you allowed by RAW and RAI to use Adopted to choose the Enlightened Warrior trait? TL;DR Can you use Adopted to pick the race trait Enlightened Warrior? |
