Thunder Rolling was prepared to talk before escalating, but he had learned long ago that you can't reason with crazy. The best bet was to make this woman - was it a woman? - submit, and then try and talk with her. To that end, he ran around behind her and swiped with the blunt portion of his macuahuitl.
"Where is this heart? Tell us and we can free others from his grasp."
Thunder Rolling held up his arm in a gesture for the others to stop their assault. "We wanted no fight, either, but you gave us little choice. Now that the battle is going against you, you decide to stop? What cowardice is this?" "Why are you helping this Kaneepoo person poison the forest? What are you up to? What is this place?" If the creature was going to give them a chance to ask questions, Thunder was going to take advantage of it, but he still held his club ready for a killing blow.
The mwangian reeled from the heavy blow, then used the momentum to come back with a titanic swing. Then, seeing that he was blocking his companions' access to this foe, he stepped back a bit.
Thunder Rolling winced at the damage, saying "Thunder Rolling was going to give you a chance to talk, lady, but not any more." He retaliated with the butt of his club, shoving her back into the room to make room for everyone else.
Thunder points to his ears, indicating the hears the voices beyond the door to the north, then waits for everyone else to indicate they are ready before opening the door wide.
With the centaur down, Thunder leaped over the table and brought his club around in a vicious swing, aiming to knock the orb out of the air.
Thunder placed the stern gaze of Nature herself on the centaur, causing her blow against Leiko to falter, even if just a bit. He took advantage of that and the flank to continue to pound the centaur in the back, using the sharp obsidian edges of his macahuitl to cut deeply.
Thunder rolled to the side with the hoof blow, avoiding the sword strikes. As Leiko moved in to flank, Thunder also rotated, putting the centaur directly between them. His macuahuitl flew in a great swing as he threw everything he had into the blow.
Thunder Rolling sneered at the centaur. "Our journey has barely begun, centaur. Of all of Nature's creations, you should know that one thing can look much like another if you aren't careful. We come to talk to Kaneepo to convince him to stop this madness against Nature, not too kill him. Though kill him we will is we must. Make the smart choice and put away your need to fight, before my companions and I take your life as payment for your folly.
if that doesn't make her back down: Shrugging, Thunder moved forward and struck the ball with a 2-handed blow, like the ball and stick games he played as a child.
"Blasted fae. Wouldn't hold still long enough to hit. Maybe if I asked nicely, nature would make my blows explode cold or something." Thunder Rolling helped heal anyone who needed it, then when they were ready, he headed for the door. He waited for everyone to signal they were ready, then opened it.
Thunder continued swatting at the pests, Not happy about defeating the swarm one tiny faerie at a time, but determined nonetheless.
Thunder Rolling swatted at the biting fairies, their pinches being little more than a painful annoyance. Having little else that would be effective against such enemies, Thunder swatted at them with his club before moving out of the swarm.
As the creature fell, Thunder rushed over to Leiko and laid a hand on the gunslinger. Healing energy pulsed into her, healing some of the wounds and bringing Leiko out of danger. The immediate threat done, Thunder Rolling sat in a meditative posture, communing with the spirit of Nature as it existed in this shadowy realm, occasionally reaching out with a healing hand to the half-elf.
Thunder Rolling ran after the retreating creature, coming up on it just as it slashed Leiko across the face. With a grunt of effort, the giant of a man swung his obsidian-studded club down at the creature's back.
In the gloom, Thunder heard the massive hits on Edra and saw his shape fall to the ground. He cried out to the spirit of nature, focusing his aura into a bright point on his hand. He reached out and laid his hand on Edra, sending a burst of healing into the fallen man.
Then he went back to work, trying to bash the creature into pulp.
Thunder squinted his eyes, then opened them up as wide as he could, drinking in the dim light and trying to aim his blows at the gorgas with both precision and power. Still the gloom affects him, and the champion of nature misses wildly.
Thunder felt his mind being wracked by the shadowy images and shook his head to clear it. He hefted his macquahuitl in both hands and charged the gorga, slamming the sharp-edged club down on the creature. In his haste, he failed to adjust for his footing and the blow went wide.
"This place is dangerous. But perhaps the only way to seek and confront this Canoepoo person. Let us go cautiously." Thunder Rolling took a moment to look around for signs of their quarry.
Thunder Rolling was drawn tot he tear in reality. It was as if was being reeled in like a fish, with the hook firmly attached tot eh his spirit. Macquahuitl over one shoulder, he moved slowly towards the tear, reached out with his free hand, and stepped through.
"We need to be more diligent about setting watches. This be a clear warning that Kaneepoo can get in and out of camp easily."
Seeing his friend having terrible luck against the last of the gorgas, Thunder Rolling glared at the gorga, willing the creature to be less vicious in its attack. He moved in to provide support. His obsidian-studded greatclub flashed in the dappled light coming through the trees as he attacked.
The gorgas emerged from the woods so suddenly that Rolling Thunder wasn't even aware of them until his new companions had been attacked. He rushed forward to get behind one of them, swinging his two-handed macquahuitl into its spine like he was trying to cut the creature into steaks.
"It seems like a fey something or another - this Kaneepo, what a horrid name - is making a move here. Opening rifts, sending out monsters to hunt the mortals, opening holes between the realms. Seems like we need to beat some answers out of this fey bastard."
Thunder Rolling looked carefully at the cart, the mule, and the area around both. Attuned to the forces of Nature, he let his mind wander and waited to pick up something...anything.
"It had better, if it knows what is good for it." Once they had finished talking with the man and Thunder Rolling was satisfied that the injuries were healed to the best of his extent, the big man stood and dusted his palms together, ready to get to the end of this particular chain of investigation so they could deal with the actual problem.
Thunder Rolling spends the time to Lay on Hans on the farmer, slowly restoring the man to health.
While he did, he encouraged the man to talk about the attack and anything else that has been going on in the area.
"You named your mule after the goddess of art and beauty? I like this man!" Thunder tilted his head back and laughed at the ceiling. It was a deep, rumbling laugh that was will with merriment. "Friend Moseby, can I aid you with some healing? I have certain gifts given by the friends of the woodlands that might aid your recovery. And then maybe you can tell us more of these attacks."
"The eldest and the first world? Fey magics? This is not a good thing. The fey are fickle creatures, I have heard, quick to bargain and never fairly. Some have a liking for mortals, but most would sooner deceive, torment, or devour us. I do no like this at all." "We should prepare to fight against fey, and then go and find the gorga attack victims and learn more of our foe."
Thunder was uneasy among the books. He could read, but not well, and it was never an activity he found enjoyable. Instead of splitting off by himself, he followed behind the others, offering his thoughts and insights freely.
"A few things. This rune could be useful once we pry it off the stick. As for the investigating, I'll let you handle that. Books and I don't get along."
Thunder Rolling looked around at his companions. "I can't speak for the group, but I am willing. If Bolan's acts were only those of a pawn, I want to stop the master. Nature herself was crying from the actions of these. This Kaneepo must be stopped."

You've sworn an oath to slay the alien abominations that lurk in the remote corners of the world. Add the following tenet to your champion's code, after the other tenets. "You must slay evil aberrations you encounter as long as you have a reasonable chance of success."
Your Retributive Strike gains a +4 circumstance bonus to damage against an evil aberration, or +6 if you have master proficiency with the weapon you used. The resistance you gain from Glimpse of Redemption against damage from an evil aberration is 7 + your level. If you use Liberating Step triggered by an evil aberration, your ally gains a +4 circumstance bonus to checks granted by your Liberating Step, and the ally can Step twice afterward. "The fey have their world and should leave ours alone. Your twisted rantings are no justification for poisoning the forest and those that live in and around it." "Now, you twisted animal, where is this Kaneepo? How do we find him? What nonsense is this forest that isn't there?"
"But he'll be alive, won't he? Are you bent on justice? You would kill this man out of spite and not give him a chance to repent for his actions. the creature asks. "Justice, yes. Vengeance? No. we will and he will be given to the authorities, providing he complies and answers all our questions." Thunder Rolling quickly tied Bolan's arms and legs, then gave him a dose of healing to keep him from dying.
"You do realize that if we save him, he will be remanded over to justice for the crimes he is committing against the people and this forest?"
Thunder moved with his target, not taking his eyes off Bolan as he lined up another strike. This time, in the crowded area in front of the door, Thunder aimed for an overhead strike at the oaksteward's head.
Thunder saw the thorns coming and dodged out of the way, partly. He still felt them rip across his flesh, and as he tried to cover at least one of his friends with his redemptive aura, he readied a swing. As soon as he saw an opportunity, he swung, aiming the the druid's lower back this time.
Thunder Rolling followed Osiris into to room, circling around Bolan and launching a heavy blow at the man's back while he was distracted by Osiris. The hardened with with obsidian teeth would have demolished the back of the man's head, if Thunder hadn't gotten tangled up in the bed while circling Bolan.
Thunder nods to the gnome, then says, "Right, stay back here or get clear of this hut. You've been through enough. We are going to deal with Bolan right now. No opportunities to surrender. No opportunities for him to talk his way out of it. We go through that door and we hit him hard. We don't stop until he stops moving. Agreed?" The last was directed to his companions. Thunder Rolling had been lenient with Bolan's crew up tot this point because anyone could fall in under a bad leader, but it was now clear that Bolan was working against the good of his fellow creatures and needed to be stopped.
The big redeemer moved to the bound gnome, fulfilling his purpose as he freed them from their bonds. "Here now, how long has that fiend kept you bound and imprisoned like this? And why not simply kill you, or turn you out?"
"If we can't disable it safely then maybe we can at least do it smartly." Thunder had everyone move to a far side of the room, then threw stuff at the tripwire until it broke.
"Here, let me see those wounds. They don't look too bad." A glow infused Edra's wounds as Thunder Rolling sent a bit of life energy into him, then sat down to meditate for a few minutes.
Thunder feels the poison seeping into his body and does his best to ignore the effects as he spun to swing at the spider.
Thunder Rolling growled at the dwarf that so disdainfully rejected their offer of peaceful discourse and stepped lightly around the spider. His leiomano glinted int eh lamplight as he swung it two-handed at the dwarf's head.
"Don't say that we didn't try the peaceful option. Kill him!"
"We aren't here to fight anyone! We just need to convince some person named Bolan to stop poisoning the forest and her creatures! Now, please put down your own weapons so we can talk."
As the bridge fell out from under him, Thunder Rolling grabbed the support rope next to him and hung on as the bridge swung crazily in the air.
"Why would someone have a rope tied here soaked in oil? An escape route, perhaps? You jump out the window and slide down here. The oiled rope is slick so that you don't get hung up or burn your hands, and it looks like you could easily make the trip and cut the rope behind you before your pursuers could catch up. Think this is Bolan's?" Rolling Thunder pulled a dagger from a belt sheath and severed the rope at this end. "When we find this murderer, we aren't going to let him just run out on our conversation."
