I also just downloaded Familiar and will tinker with it this weekend. I use to enjoy using DM's Familiar in D&D 3.5 and have been on the look-out for something similar for 4E.

Thanks for the time and effort easing the lives of DMs.

You're more than welcome. Hope it suits your needs. Looking forward to any feedback you might have.

I'm checking this out right now.

Thanks!

Great! Looking forward to any feedback you might have!

The new version of Familiar has arrived! You can download version 0.5.0.12 at http://familiarrpg.com. This revision contains some great new features. You can browse and add monsters from the D&D Compendium directly from within Familiar. Also, you can now copy and paste rich text custom monsters from the Monster Builder directly into the program. Please note that you will need a subscription to D&D Insider to take full advantage of these features.
Please let me know how you like the new features and if you'd like to see anything else added in the next version (due sometime in March). You can reach me at info@familiarrpg.com.

Hi, all.

I've been DMing a D&D game for over a year now and, as a result, have come up with a 4e combat tracking software package for DMs. It's called Familiar and is available here (http://www.familiarrpg.com). Sorry to add to the glut of programs already out there, but I figured some of you may be interested in what I've been developing in my spare time.

One of the key features I really wanted in a combat management program was the ability to see both the attacker and defender's stats at the same time, in addition to automated condition notifications (e.g. "Orc is no longer Slowed"), and selection of multiple enemies for burst and blast effects. Familiar has these things and more.

That being said, it's still a little rough around the edges, but it gets the job done. Familiar is in development right now and I could certainly use some feedback on things like the interface and feature suggestions. Any information provided will be most helpful.

Anyway, if you have any questions or feedback, you can respond to this thread or write me at info@familiarrpg.com. Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.

Hi, all.

Just wanted to let everyone know there is a new version of Familiar available now on the website. It includes several new features (e.g. add damage/healing/temp hp to multiple targets from a burst or blast effect), several bug fixes and some nice aesthetic changes.

You can download the new version from here: http://www.familiarrpg.com. I'm looking forward to any feedback you might have. You can reply in this thread or contact me at info@familiarrpg.com. Thanks and I hope you enjoy using Familiar!

Hi, all.

We are looking for 1-2 players to round out our D&D game that we play every other Saturday afternoon. The game takes place in a homebrew world and we've got 3 PCs plus 1 DM. We usually play at one of our player's house in the Sunset, but the games are occasionally held at my place in SOMA.

A little about us: we are in our early 20s to early 30s, all in the tech and biotech industries, and quite social. We are RPG geeks by day and rockstars by night, and often hang out together outside of gaming sessions (bars, clubs, movies, video games, etc.).

A little about you: you are in the same age category and of a pleasant disposition. We don't care much about your gaming experience (two of us are complete n00bz, while two of us know every feat/spell combo from every book), but would prefer someone with a sense of social grace and the ability to get along well with people. I know this is sometimes asking too much from the D&D underground, but I'm fairly confident you're somewhere out there.

We are all burdened by the mundane trappings of real life (kids, spouses, jobs, et al.) so we can only get together every other weekend. Sometimes sessions must be missed, which is understandable, but hopefully attendance isn't a serious issue with you (otherwise I might as well post another ad, eh?).

In any case, if you're interested, please respond with a little about yourself. Looking forward to meeting you!
