The subject might be misleading, but I was wondering where you all would draw the line when it comes to a party reset/rebuild? When is it too late for another group of harty adventures to pick up the torch dropped by the last group who met their untimely dimise and Karoug's plan is to far along to stop?

I pretty much have desided that if my party dies in last book it is done, Karzoug wins. Where do you all stand on this? I ask because my group is started Sin's of the Saviors and Frozenmaw had his way with my party a couple weeks ago. There was a fairly contrived escape and resurection of 2/3 of the gourp.

Anyone care to chime in?

Edit: I did do a little searching around, but I am at work and didn't want to spead a ton of time researching... Looks bad when the boss is roaming around.

Thanks all

So, I guess I need to vent.

My last session running ROTRL went pretty well. That would be minus my players surfing CNN, grading papers, and sleeping... Oh and one of them said if I needed to kill a character to go ahead and kill his because he isn't really all that attached to it.

No one else in my group is willing to run so they are stuck with me doing it. I am not a terrible GM, but they certainly aren't helping. I don't GM for my health, I GM so we can play. I would rather be on the other side of the table.

I am starting to introduce individual character stories so maybe next week will be better?

I did switch over from a self made champain to ROTRL and thank all that is holy I did!

Anyways, sorry to complain but I needed to get it off my chest.

Trying to get the glow,

I have been running a game with some good friends for a fair amount of time now, say 6 months. I have played 2ed/3.5/pathfinder for years. I was called to bit the bullet and run a game or we simply wouldn't play anymore. The others in the group will not run because they have anxiety to the point they fixate over it and it ruins their week, no time, or have run before and believe it is someone elses turn. All are reasonable reasons not to run. For me I can say I don't mind running but would sure as heck would rather be playing.

Okay, to the meat of this post. How do you all keep excited about running the game, what do you use as inspiration? I have read some high fantasy authors. Tolkien, Terry Brooks, Weis/Hickman, amoungst others in my time. It seems I am fired up and ready to create the day of and day after, but inevitally something comes up and cuts my create time.

I am running a champain based off an idea from a scifi book I read sometime ago (Suicide Collectors). The quick and dirty is something has corrupted the area and now the people have lost the will to live. In come the playes to save the day! Do I need to get a bottle of scotch, some Tom Waits albums, (I am thinking that song "Whats he building in there") a pack of smokes and give her hell? Or is there a "science" to it..?

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
