Let me start over with this.
While examining the fighter PC class the real problem with them is that after fighter 4, why go on?
The solution that is easily seen here as brought up by several people before is to use feat chains and allow for these feat chains to get progressivly better.
So in thinking of types of feat chains several spheres these chains could fall into came to mind; for example if you wanted to play the big beefy tank warrior that isnt the best damage but deffinetly best meat shield a live you may want to go very deep in to the protection shere which I outlined in the earlier post. Others Sphere that I would be willing to detail would be a weapon mastery type Sphere that would include Weapon Focus/Weapon Mastery/Special Moves ect and these would be lower armored fighters but deffinetly heavy hitters. Furthermore you could have your wilderness type fighter and this would include things like track, possibly tree shape ect things of that nature. The final sphere would be the finess fighter, things like swashbuckler type features and possibly a hide in plain sight, insightful strike ect.
Then when a warrior gets a feat and for example wishes to start down a meat shield type path they can start to take feats in that sphere with armor proficiency and such as prev outlined. If the warrior that you want to play is more of a Im going to beat the shit out of you warrior you may want to go to feats in the arms sphere which I would be willing to work up if there was some interest in it.
I hope this makes more sense. I could see this type of thing taking over the Ranger/Barbarian/Fighter Class and completly eliminating them and instead if you want to play a wilderness fighter type of person and have a pet example you would spend your feats in the wilderness sphere(example being the warrior with a weaker feat progression). Again just an Idea and seeing how people respond to it, if there was interest I would put a lot more time into and try to come up with a full write up for the fighter.
