Hey man, no worries. I was going to suggest the same. I did enjoy it, thank you for taking the time to introduce it and run it. It was neat to try out the original systems; I definitely think in person is the way to go with a dedicated game time.

All good! I hope you guys had a good time!

"I thank you, Armolas. We may be able to turn the tide against The Rahib with this ring. It is attuned to The Red Lady. A drop of blood typically creates a bond between the ring bearer and a natural beast. Perhaps The Red Lady will see fit to free The Rahib's pet from his evil clutches." said Egspen.

"I can think of no better legend than that of an elf and the panther he freed from an evil spellcaster. Let us continue the chase."

Intelligence Roll: 1d20 ⇒ 1

The die is cast!

Does Egspen recognize any of the names mentioned in the script?

The runes may be too faint for the eyes of a human, but I travel with an elf and a bird-man. Perhaps their eyes may be of use thought Egspen.

"Ho! Armolas! There is faint script on this ring that I cannot read. Do you or Redclaw see what it may say, or the shapes of the script?"

"We must follow him. Though the secret passageway is blocked perhaps this far fireplace leads to his location. A rat doesn't rely on just one hole." said Albur.

The party will examine their treasures on the way through the fireplace. Perhaps the medallion is paired with the ring?

"We should search this room. Perhaps by catching him unaware, and with his hurried escape, The Rahib left some clue behind. We should keep watch for that panther, too." suggested Egspen.

Egspen saw his opportunity as sound returned to the world. His hands flew through familiar motions as shimmering darts appeared in the air beside him. With a flourish he gestured towards The Rahib.

Magic Missile Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

OH! I see! That's my bad. I assumed both and had hit because I saw the damage roll alongside the attack roll haha. Whoops!

Egspen is AC 10, so neither attack from the Panther hit. Woo!

(it presented like a video game so I assumed it connected)

Egspen will attempt to stab the panther.

Attack roll: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Potential Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2

No, I mean Egspen is dead alongside Galamiel. Egspen had 5 HP

I believe we are both dead LOL

Egspen will move to Coup de Grace the other sleeping panther

No spells are declared due to silence and paralysis

Albur rolls to save versus spell!
Spell Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Should Albur resist the spell he will enter melee with Panther 2, assisting Armolas and Galamiel.

There will be no movement from Egspen, and no missiles.

Egspen will declare a Sleep spell in the Spellcasting Phase, electing to target the two panthers.

Sleep HD: 2d8 ⇒ (7, 1) = 8

Egpsen smiled to himself.

"Let us try to open this door. The last vision I received was of a fireplace where the Rahib sat with his panther reading a book. We may be teleported directly to him, or perhaps nothing will happen at all."

"I know of no such enchantments. Perhaps this was meant more as a symbol or message to others than a spell component."

Egspen reached out to interact with the eye, and tried to turn it. He thought it functioned as a door knob, or at the very least could be removed and returned to the fountain.

"I know of no such enchantments. Perhaps this was meant more as a symbol or message to others, than a spell component."

Egspen reached out to interact with the eye, and tried to turn it. He thought it functioned as a door knob, or at the very least could be removed and returned to the fountain.

"Elyas was known for his hidden secrets and convoluted puzzles. Let us examine this hidden door in more detail." Egspen stated.

We shall explore the pulpit! The weekend got away from me along with Mother's Day. Sorry!

"I am a magic-user, a Seer, trained in the arcane arts. My mentor studied the works of Elyas Whitestave as a personal hobby. It is an honour to meet you both." replied Egspen.

Come help Elyas...interesting. Perhaps there is more to this puzzle than I had anticipated. Egspen thought to himself.

Looking towards the elven lord, Egspen spoke.

"We should return to the Temple at once. Keep Rahasia safe. She is key to the Rahib's plan. Should he obtain her, I fear a terrible evil will be unleashed."

"Very well." said Albur.

Looking towards Galamiel and Redclaw, Albur introduced himself, then glared at Egpsen, whose furrowed brow revealed his attention was elsewhere, to do the same.

"We would know more of you, Galamiel and Redclaw, before we return to the Temple." said Egpsen, after quickly scanning the room to see what he had missed.

Albur nodded in the direction of Galamiel and Redclaw and cleared his throat.

"We have learned that the Rahib's mercenary forces lost faith in his mission, and then lost themselves in the teleporting puzzle within the lower sections of the temple. They have been gone for roughly five days. Perhaps they could turn their swords against the Rahib should they still live. Shall we attempt a rescue, or will they be left to their fate?" inquired Albur.

After a dreamless sleep brought on from the exhausting day, Albur and Egspen prepared their spells for the day ahead.

Egspen will have Sleep and Magic Missile prepared
Albur will have Cure Light Wounds prepared

"We should now take council with Rahasia's father to determine our next move." advised Albur.

Albur looked to Egspen and said "The Gods present us a choice, Egspen. No one should spend their final days wandering a maze while madness and hunger consume them. If we locate these soldiers we could bolster our ranks against the Rahib."

Egspen looked out towards the forest and considered Albur's proposition. What we need is time and rest.

Finally, Egpsen turned to Albur and Armolas. "We should visit Ular-Taman. Perhaps he can tell us how to navigate the lower sections. We are wounded, and our magical energies are spent. Though, we are well supplied for a cautious exploration of the lower levels. We may also have an opportunity to return the dominated Siswaru elves now that the temple is mostly clear. We could seek healing and rest from the village."

Egspen sighed and continued. "What say you?"

Egspen will inspect the journal. It may contain some clue or leverage to de-escalate further combat with the Rahib's minions.

Albur will carry the "Tithe" bag.

Once completed, the barred door will be opened.

Let's examine the niches alongside the walls.

Wisdom: 1d20 ⇒ 13

Albur began to swirl the staff and beseeched aid from the Almighty.

Why do the skill checks go down while other actions go up? Here's hoping the Gods can determine what bonus is needed when.

I will cash in Albur's boon if available. If not, the dice shall fall where it is!

Drain.
Keep an eye out.

Egpsen's pupils dilated as the thoughts collided in a lightning bolt of understanding.

"Move the debris from the fountain drain! Use the staff!" Egspen hissed to his companions.

All good! I guess the play is to interrupt the casters with missiles then rather than melee?

Egspen will ponder his usefulness in a combat scenario when he has no spells nor means of attack outside of a dagger. Perhaps, in a different timeline, he would be armed with cantrips.

Albur swings the magic staff towards the water!

Magic Staff: 1d20 ⇒ 9
Magic Staff Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6

Albur will engage in melee with the staff

Egspen will perform a fighting withdrawal moving backwards from the water weird

We'll need to keep an eye out for these missing eyes. Heh Egspen mused to himself.

Keep an eye out. A good reminder.

Egspen motioned to Albur to approach the fountain. "It is odd to me that this section of the temple appears abandoned and uncared for. The students were studying here until the Rahib arrived. Please dip the staff in to this fountain, perhaps its magical properties will cleans whatever rot has it backed up."

Albur raised an eyebrow but did as instructed, dipping the head of the staff in to the water and touching the bottom. Albur swirled it gently for dramatic effect.

Happy Easter!

Egspen will investigate the fountain. Odd, the surface is dotted with rotting leaves. Are there trees in this room? Egspen thought to himself.

Egspen wandered to the fountain and peered in to it trying to clear the vision of Sir Ulrik's death from his mind.

Brutal. Where shall we go from here?

Albur nodded solemnly and spoke a soft prayer over the body of Sir Ulrik. Looking up at his companions Albur spoke: "We are battered and bloody. It would be foolish to press on, exhausted as we are, though with an unknown number of cultists behind us, it may be best to cross that darkened threshold and find a place to rest."

Egspen stared at the remains of Sir Ulrik. ...did he even feel it?

Tearing his eyes from the gore, Egspen determined that Albur was suggesting they move on and rest. Egspen nodded in agreement.

Albur looked to Armolas. "I will not force your cooperation, Armolas, I swear to you that we will see this Rahib dead for the death of Sir Ulrik."

This gargoyle has some hot dice! Rest in Peace, Sir Ulrik.

Egpsen will ready his dagger but will not engage in melee.

Albur will attack with the magic Staff

Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Nope, I just need to work it in to my routine.

Albur will attack with the magic Staff
Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Albur's +1 cancels his -1 from Strength.

Egpsen is out of juice so no spells will be cast from him this round.

Thanks!

Albur will stay within melee range of the Gargoyle and ready himself for another attack.

Egspen will watch the staircase, alert for approaching guards or observers from below

And magic we shall receive!

Egspen's arms moved in a familiar arcane pattern, once again summoning a glowing golden dart.

Egspen completed the movement with a flourish by pointing violently toward The Gargoyle sending the golden dart streaking towards it.

Magic Missile Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8
Damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1

I am unsure what the bonuses to Albur's magic weapon are.

let's keep experimenting with side initiative. I think it breaks spellcasting otherwise.

Movement: Albur will ready his magic staff and shield and advance toward the monster.

Egspen will move to stay out of reach of the gargoyle.

No missiles.

Albur will declare a melee attack against the Gargoyle.

Egspen will not.

"It is best to be cautious when dealing with the puzzles of Elyas Whitestave. The claw marks do not appear to be from a trap, but from a creature. We should look up at the ceiling." said Albur.

Is the statue facing towards us, or away from us towards the Alcove? How is the body on the floor oriented? Do the claw marks appear animalistic, draconic, or more like a swinging axe?

"Curious." mused Egspen. "We have encountered no armoured guards. I wonder if this one crossed the gaze of the statue or perhaps stepped on an incorrect floor tile."

Egspen avoided the gaze of the statue and attempted to see what it was looking at. Where are you leading us now? Egspen wondered.

"If you are being warned of danger, Armolas, then we should heed that warning and not leave things up to chance. The far stair is our target." replied Albur.

"I would avoid another conflict with the Siswa, unless we are able to lure them in to the guardian's room again. While I suspect that we will not be facing warriors, any one of them could sound an alarm." said Egspen.

"You are correct, Egspen. Stealth must remain on our side." replied Albur, who shook his head as if he had water trapped in his ear.

"Perhaps it is best if we proceed down the south corridor."

"Yes." said Egspen. "We know there is a group here, let us keep that information in mind as we head through the Southern door. We will close it gently behind us to prevent suspicion."

"Interesting." mused Albur. "Our first meeting with the Siswaru implied they were students of war. Perhaps other practical lessons were taught within these halls prior to the Rahib."

[b]"Let us hope that their martial studies took less time than these other...endeavours." replied Egspen.

"Let us listen at these doors to determine which we investigate first."

Albur moved to the double doors on his left and felt a strange sensation.

Depending on the point of reference, one could say that any point in this room were 'North'. If the doors here were drawn pointing to the top of a map, as most maps follow, they would be North...or the Alcove...

Albur's eyes widened with a horrific realization. I am the pivot point. I am the needle, and the signs and directions of my deity is the force that guides and points the needle...

Albur heard a small rock drop and roll near to the North Door. He peered down to see what had moved and thought he saw the flash of a number.

The rules indicate the Referee should roll this so the Player is left unsure of the ultimate outcome. I like this! Albur will continue to save the 'blessing' card from earlier. I believe it was to be used in the next 10 dice rolls, I think we've only had three since then which was initiative with the Siswa, a save against the sleep powder, and initiative against Ular-Taman.

I guess, stuff happens now? The Siswa are brought to Ular-Taman's chamber, old weapons are left if their owners wish, then I guess we will go through to the Hall of the Siswa as the Shrine would lead us back out the way way came?
