Eh. I'm with hustonj. Heroes are heroes precisely because they overcome, whether they have deficiencies or not.
@Sorry to be pedantic JonnyBlack, still confused. It seems not difficult but impossible to get a samurai/gunslinger/ninja accepted because they are from Ultimate Combat which is not an allowed source. Or am I missing something?
I had this character accepted into a RotR that had precisely zero Gameplay posts. (One of the handful of games that had a lengthy, protracted Recruitment only for the GM to completely disappear before a post in Gameplay was even made...)
Teminkar is a Sandpoint local, and only a "Samurai" mechanically. Mostly he is a caravan guard. Again, as hustonj said, mechanics supporting the story. I had a Kellid Horselord character that was mechanically a Samurai, with everything reflavored for Kellid honor and horsebound custom...

@Tanka - sounds good. Teminkar would appreciate that I'm sure. And while we're at it, Teminkar can be shortened to Inkar or Kar. But not for some reason "Tem". Because that, apparently, would be silly.

@Fane - from my understanding, Teminkar joined the caravan in Sandpoint, and completed a round-trip. I'm not familiar with all the routes, nor destinations.
@DM Red-handed - how far does Sandru's caravan travel?

Ok, Teminkar knows Brom and Fane from the caravan. Teminkar may have been the impetus for the other two to stop off at Sandpoint? The three seem to be of similar ages and temperaments - while Teminkar might not be as open as Brim he is earnest, and while not as flamboyant as Fane he will be excited by the Varisian's outlook and travel experience.
Teminkar knows of Lydia, but not much beyond that he has seen her in Sandpoint many times.
Teminkar knows Igmutanka, and by association Ciprian. They have crossed paths much in growing up, and are familiar with each other. I see no reason for enmity, and we can be friends if that helps.

Hi folks. Teminkar is a local, his family the Tavuus' are a local clan of thugs and petty criminals, though Teminkar is the black sheep - honorable and hard-working, most recently hired in as a caravan guard. He has returned to Sandpoint and is looking for something a little more adventurous.
@Igmutanka - Looks like Tanka is a local, if not a native. And so Teminkar would know of him if not know him personally. I imagine Teminkar would not exactly know how to take the wild Shoanti, but would probably admire his skills and prowess.
@Brom, how long have you been in Sandpoint after being rescued by Shalelu?
Heh, I had wanted to purchase a naginata like thisbut didn't realise it was a reach weapon in PF.
I don't mind reach weapons generally, but wasn't looking for one for this character.
@DM Red-handed: Any chance I can, if submission is accepted, use one like the one pictured and drop the reach out and drop the critical down to x3 instead of the listed x4?
Ok, purchased equipment relevant to former profession as caravan guard and chose the Cynical Ear trait to reflect growing up with a bunch of heavy scumbags.
Cynical Ear (Social):
Benefit(s): Add 2 when determining your Hit Dice for Intimidate checks, and increase the DC of all Diplomacy checks against you by 2.
This is OSW's submission, Teminkar Tavuus, human Samurai (Yojimbo).
Teminkar's Background:
When Sandru offered Teminkar a job as a caravan guard, the young Tavuus saw this as a way out of his past, and a way to a better future. His family, the Tavuus clan, scattered on the outskirts of Sandpoint's farming belt own a reputation for petty larceny, are mostly drunks or worse and by most Sandpoint citizen's universal experience are all mean-spirited and, by the clan's own estimation, faultless - its always "someone else's fault." Teminkar couldn't be more different. Somehow, by his exploration of Sandpoint's lanes, alleys, taverns, markets and docks, the young lad formed a different view of life. Perhaps it was always in his nature, or perhaps a spark of intelligence or emotional maturity lacking in his kin, Teminkar found the world a dangerous place to be sure, but also a place of honor, and light and compacts between kindred souls, bonds of friendship.
Sandru could see the glint of promise in Teminkar's soul, and took the young lad under his wing, finding the boy a teacher in the way of the eastern blade, showing him how to survive the cold nights and long days of boredom and constant travel on the mercantile road. Always the boy impressed the caravanner with his personal sense of honor, the way he challenged himself to be more than he currently was, and his faultless dedication to protecting those weaker than himself, in stark contrast to his family of ne'erdowells and thuggish bullies.
For now, Teminkar has disowned his family, try as they might to entice him with wheedling promises or cajole him with empty threats. His sights are set higher, to a greater purpose, no longer a mere bodyguard, but an honorable protector...
Still have to choose a trait and purchase equipment. Speaking of which:
