"We should speak with the Undines then look along the shore."

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

"then we should send a message back to the order letting them know what we havd found so far."

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

let us return to the shatterkeep

"I agree, though how shall we transport the body and armour back with us to the town? Telthes are you able to simple carry him?"

"Out of the cave yes, but I agree with our stealthy friend. A litter is better for the transit back to the fortress."

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

"I feel like we have nothing more to learn here and we should return to the order's headquarters."

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

"We did get a vial of the liquid for study as well."

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

Telthes will examine the body to see if it looks anything like the man they were sent to find or if there is anything indicating what turned him into an undead.

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Male Ifrit Paladin 1

Telthes has had enough and smites the fell creature.

"In the name of all that is good and right I declare you an unholy creation of evil. I name you anathema to both the living and the dead. May the gods aid me in ridding your fell presence from the land."

+5 normally, +3 from smite, +2 from flanking -1 from power attack =+9: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17

damage +2 from power attack +3 str +6 smite vs undead: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

OOA 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Maintaining a position so his ally can flank, Telthes slashes at the creature again.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

It would seem that I have wronged the RNG in some way

For those interested, I've been working on fleshing out the next parts of the adventure and I'm wondering if there's any things you'd like to particularly do.

This "opening act" has you gain favor with the Order, with the eventual goal being to confront Garagun once and for all at the "finale".

At the same time, I plan on having you visit much more of the region and get to know the different locations of note, especially Splinterwood, Mount Kar and some nice places within Shatterkeep.

I'm mulling over diplomatic aspects involving the current ruler of the region, visiting the Elemental-folk's homes (Telthes, this could be particular fun for you).

Any favorite themes or adventure aspects you'd like to see incorporated? We've got 11 more levels of adventuring to go, so I might as well make sure we all find something we enjoy.

That all sounds good.

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19

Telthes will charge the creature drawing his longsword as he moves in.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

If it hits 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

Telthes starts heaving on the rope, dragging the priest back as quickly as possible.

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

Telthes begins pulling the priest out of the pool as soon as he sees movement from the thing in the water.

What kind of check should I make?

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

telthes is holding the other end of the rope, ready to pull the priest up when needed

"Remember that this water will illuminate anyone that comes in contact with it. I am not sure it is safe to swim in. " Re'Tulan remarks as he places his newly made "tracer" arrows in his quiver.

"do you have a better idea?"

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

"Two ropes, one for the diver and one for the object? Someone without armour should be the diver but I can help pull them up."

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

no worries, you aren't disappearing completely like a lot of people do when life gets busy.

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

"perhaps we should take a sample? Others at the order headquarters might be able to identify it even if we can't."

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

"should we make sure the rest of this cave is clear before gawking at whatever this is."

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

"maintain the same formation"

The room is small enough that you easily search the contents.

It appears that the equipment strewn about here were being bundled up to be brought above, judging by the way they are placed. Apparently, they never did reach the defenders above.

The equipment here is nevertheless in good condition. You can scrounge around and find a variety of weapons that may suit your tastes.

If everyone decided to spend five minutes scrounging through the racks, you can each scrounge up a masterwork weapon of your choice.

The footprints from above continue to a small stone door, barely large enough for someone to squeeze pass.

could I get a masterwork heavy shield?

"who is going to be the one to check what is on the other side of that opening? Should we tie a rope round their waist so we can pull them out if needed?"

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

Telthes will give the two scouts a suitable lead then follow them down the ladder.

Sounds good.

Re'Tulan, what's the Survival check attempting to do?

Remember, there's an abandoned lantern outside if needed.

I did say that Telthes was going to look at it and the stuff by it. But Telthes himself doesn't need it with DV 60 ft.

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

Telthes will lead the non-quiet group, with his sword drawn ready for whatever may be below.

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

"Great tragedy has struck this place and not too far in the past if my nose is telling the truth."

As he speaks Telthes checks the lantern and jars to see if the lantern is full and what is in the jars.

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

"If Sir Richard is still alive can we afford to wait to continue the search?"

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

"I will hold onto the gemstone until we determine who it belongs to. Strange that this fur is here as well, could this tent belong to the man we are looking for? Also we should probably bury or burn the bodies, even thieves don't deserve to be left to rot like that."

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

Telthes will double move towards the surviving enemy. Which should put me in slot 2 able to charge if needed next turn.

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

Telthes will start in slot 1. He will draw his longsword then wait for one of the thieves thieves reach him before striking.

"drop your weapons and surrender, so far your only crime is theft."

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Garagun, Scion of Fire wrote:

Good question. Generally speaking, theft, when brought up in court usually ends up with prison time, ranging from 6 months to 2 years depending on the value of goods stolen.

A monetary compensation can also be required.

I actually hadn't come up with this before you asked, and as far as I know, Golarion doesn't have a "set of laws" section for the regions so I am winging it. I'll look into setting up a "laws of the area" if you're interested.

That would be handy. Telthes would try to follow the law for dealing with criminals and the like. Of course if they try to kill him, things probably won't go as well for them.

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

what is the punishment for theft around here?

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

"I would think very carefully before drawing your daggers. But you might want to explain why your tent looks like it is in the process of being looted."

Telthes hand goes from being open and in front of him to a position to better draw his sword from.

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

Telthes will get close enough to detect evil and try to maneuver himself to see into the tent.

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

Telthes will lead the group, his shield strapped to his left arm and fully armoured but his sword and other weapons un-drawn. His holy symbol clearly hanging around his neck so that it is resting on top of his armour. His right hand held out, open and far from any of his weapons.

"We mean you no harm, we are simply looking for a colleague of ours and believe he is nearby. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated."

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

""it seems weird that any of those creatures should be operating out of water. Still we should investigate."

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

Telthes looks around, particularly trying to see if there are any notes sitting on the table or desk that look recent.

1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18

edit: Telthes will pull out the jar and show it to everyone.

"anyone have any idea what this is and why it would be out of plain sight?"

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

"Would it hurt to stop by Sir Richard's room first, it should only take a few minutes but might give us some idea what to expect. knowledge is power."

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

"Thank you for your willingness to aid us," Telthes says to the innkeeper.

"Should we check out Sir Richmond's room at the church after we finish our meal?"

How much do we owe the innkeeper for the food?

Cydfrid Thauwyn wrote:

Cydfrid looks at his companions aghast.

"How do you plan to have a clear mind while sober? I mean, not to fall out drunk, but to enjoy Caydean's blessings will not harm anybody, specially our innkeeper friend here! On me! Good man, serve my companions one wine glass each, so they remember you inn fondly!"

"water is fine for me, like the wizard I believe we should be clear headed while investigating. Still I will not stop any who wish to partake. But some bread, cheese and meat would not be turned away."

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

"Indeed good Innkeeper, I believe we will be in need of both. Of course we will pay fair value for both. We were also hoping to speak to Sir Richmond, do you know where we can find him?

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

"I suggest we start at the Inn, ask when the last time anyone saw him"

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

Telthes will take a masterwork longsword.

"Looking at the room is a good idea.

Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

"Has there been any other word from the village?"

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

"The seneschal mentioned 2 offspring, are they full blooded dragons or half-breeds?"

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

"It is unusual to see other elementally touched warriors in your ranks."

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

I did as well

AOO 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

Telthes howls in pain, barely still on his feet. His next attack is a savage hack at the second twin. Manoeuvring so that his allies can flank if necessary.

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

Damage 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 1) + 4 = 6

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

Telthes slashes at the twin to his right

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23 confirm 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

assume no crit damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 5) + 4 = 10

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

Telthes moves forward, putting him in zone 2.

Male Ifrit Paladin 1

"size is always an advantage in a fight, perhaps we will make these men regret picking on the new guys."
