Climb check;Balance check (1d20=7, 1d20=15)

Tegid continues to take his time struggling with the slipperiness and wetness of the rocks, although not as bad as Larkspring...

While the captain answers the other's questions Tegid will study the falls and ponder on what the captain says.

Knowledge: Nature check; Knowledge: Geography check; Knowledge: Dungeoneering check; (1d20+8=16, 1d20+6=22, 1d20+6=20)

Tegid will then make sure that all of his gear is ready before following Larkspring and Fir to the beach.

Tegid is trying to recall any specific weaknesses of plant creatures and to see what insight he might glean from the landscape.

Tegid once again calls on the power of his god and reaches out to touch Sabriel providing her with divine guidance.

Casts Guidance to give Sabriel a +1 to attack next round.

Having loaded his crossbow and confident that Larkspring and Fir have taken care of the water creature Tegid turns his attention to the dancing ball of light. Not confident that he could shoot at the dancing ball of light and not hit Sabriel Tegid instead moves up and raising his holy symbol intones a prayer of strength on Sabriel.

I am assuming that since Sabriel is engaged in melee with the dancing ball of light Tegid would get the -4 penalty for firing into melee.

Tegid will move adjacent to Sabriel [move action] and cast Bull's Strength on Sabriel raising her strength by 4 points for 4 minutes [standard action].

Bull's Strength:
Duration: 40 rounds

Seeing his spiritual weapon havng no effect on the flaoting light Tegid switches targets to the floating mass of oily substance. A fist pounds down on the substance causing it to pause for a brief second at the attack before it resumes its hypnotic spinning. Seeing the group having problems the floating light begins to move closer for its attacks. With rapier in hand now, Sabriel moves up to the edge of the shore and attacks the light. Her attack is close but not close enough to hit the thing. Under the spell of the floating mass, Triska slowly moves toward the floatng mass, as she gets closer to the stuff the swirling mass spurts up at her trying to grab her and pull her into itself, but fails to do so even thou Triska starts to enter the water. Watching the swirling mass move about, Larkspring begin to move towards it by jumping into the water and starting to swim in it's location. Fir follows instantly into the water and tries to grab a hold of Larkspring with his claws and teeth but fails to do so with one claw and his teeth Larkspring continues to try and swim on but one claw of Fir's slows him down. From behind the group the Captain and Faruq make attacks to try and help out any way they can. Both begin to attack the light but seeing so many people attracted to the oil mass change targets, Faruq changes his mind yet again and grabs for Triska instead.Triska roll an opposed grapple check! The captain lands a blow on the oil slick doing some damage.

Next Round! Both Triska and Lark are still under the spell of the oil mass so make another will save! Triska go ahead and make an opposed grapple check for the oil mass when it attacks you this upcoming round just in case Faruq can't grab you with your other. If you make your will saves you get to act as normal.

The spiritual weapon continues to attack the creature in the water.

Spiritual weapon attack against creature in water (1d20+5=20, 1d8+2=5)

How deep is the water? Is it deep enough to summon a porpoise into?

Assuming that the water is deep enough to summon a porpoise into...

Seeing Larkspring dive into the water and Triska make a move for the creature Tegid quickly reaches into his pack and takes out a scroll and recites the incantation scribed on it summoning forth a celestial porpoise to attack the submerged creature.

Takes scroll out of backpack [move action] and uses scroll [standard action] to cast Summon Monster I summoning forth a celestial porpoise to attack the submerged creature using its smite evil ability.

Triska-** spoiler omitted **

A weapon of magical energy comes forth from Tegid's holy symbol, a fist of fury streaks out towards the floating light, it looks like it hits it but its hard to tell is anything happen at all. A blast of electrical energy shoots from the light and heads staight for Larkspring, hitting him in the chest sending shock waves through his body(4 hps dam). Sabriel turns to the light and lets forth one of her eldritch blasts striking the creature to no effect it seems. Arrows streak out of Triska's bow and easily finds their target, the oil slick continues to swirl around and its hard to tell if the thing can feel pain or not but it does seem more agitated than it was. The swirling is becoming hypnotic to those viewing the oil slick as it circulates.Lark and Triska make will saves. As Larkspring tries to cast his magic he has an urge to approach the swirling mass as does Triska. Fir gets himself up slowly and makes his way over to Larkspring not sure what is wrong with his friend.

Next Round!

Seeing that his spell is not having an effect on the globe of energy Tegid targets the fist of energy against the creature in the water and stepping forward he chants a quick prayer of protection on Larkspring.

Tegid switches targets for the spiritual weapon from the globe of light to the creature in the water [move action] and casts Shield of Faith on Larkspring [standard action].

As the boat slowly comes to a halt the Captain calls for the crew to gather around him, We have stopped due to the tangled plants and drifting debris of the swamp, its not safe to use the sternwheeler lest it becomes snarled and damaged. Therefore the only way for the us to proceed is for all of us to take turns pulling the boat with ropes to our distination. The water level in the swamp is only about four feet deep so it should not be a problem. Two will pull while one will stand watch over the two from the boat. It will take us about two days to get to the falls where I know we can find some new arcophage. We will only pull the boat during the day and take our rest at night when it is to dangerous to be in the water. So who would like to take first shift pulling the boat? The Captain looks at each of you to see what each of you has to say......

Arcane energies flow out of Larkspring seeking similar energies, they float about searching but find nothing but what the group already has on their persons. Tegid picks up the healers kit and finds the normal healer items needed to help folk, he also notices five carefully labeled bottles with the words arsenic on each one.

The boat pushes off of the dock and begins to make its way up river once again. You pass under the bridge and then into the jungle proper, rising like the wall of a green fortress, the Vanji River issuing from its dark greenhouse. A little less than ten miles into the jungle, Captain Esteban steers the wheelboat into a tributary he calls the Kurka River rather than following the main artery of the Vanji. He explains that this stagnant rill flows from Kurka Swamp, in turn fed by the Brimstone Falls on the opposite site. The swamp is fife with plantlife of all kinds, including mobile plant creatures that serve as hosts for the badly needed arcophages. He states it should take the boat a few days off of its schedule, and the only alternative is to swim or walk once the current arcophage gives out. At that he stops talking abruptly with a strange look in his eyes leaving the crew to go back to their duties.......

"Tell me Captain, do you happen to know why the people of White Bridge would carry bottles of poison in their medical kits?"

Tegid shows them the bottles of arsenic before stowing them back away in the kit and packing it into his pack.

"Good question Larkspring. I need to pray to Irori to refresh my daily allotment of spells as well and I would like to take a few moments to make a few notes in my journal."

Seeing the healer's kit...

"Does anyone have experience tending wounds? I spent some time working in a hospital in Magnimar tending soldiers and helping with emergency care. I could use this kit to tend wounds in case my magical resources run out. Any objections to me holding on to this?"

Everyone stands back as Tegid goes through the motions of casting his divine help. He points the holy symbol at the door and the thing blasts open, sending shards of wood flying inward into the building. The room is quiet and dark, dust kicked up by the explosion makes everyone want to sneeze. Inside can be seen crates, weapons, armour hanging on the wall and other goods.

"Wow...that was more effective than I expected."

As the dust and debris settles and Tegid sees what's inside he turns to the others.

"We should probably take what we can and destroy the rest. I do not think we want this to fall into the hands of the elves."

Zoomackulas Eichendar wrote:
The door is one solid piece of wood which would shatter it into pieces. Its a simple bolt that is the locking device but you can tell there is something else that is involve with this door making it difficult to unlock. The door is very thick, painted white, looks worn from all of the rain and humidity and starting to warp at the bottom.

Taking one final look at the door Tegid raises his holy symbol and calls on the power of Irori.

Tegid casts Shatter on the door in hopes of opening it up.

"I think I have a spell that might make this a little easier..."

Once I get a description of the door I am going to cast Shatter on it in hopes of opening it up. Zoom how would you handle this? Is the door one solid piece such that I could shatter it whole or do I have to pick a specific piece of it? Can I see the bolt that is holding the door in place?

Knowledge: Architecture and Engineering to see if I can identify a piece of the door to Shatter to open it up easily. (1d20+8=9)

"Before we leave. I noticed that the door to the armory was still locked. It might be worth getting the door open and seeing if there is anything inside that might be of use for our journey especially if these elves come back looking for more trouble."

Tegid heads back up to the armoury and tries to open the door. Sure that the door is locked he takes a few moments to inspect the door and its construction.

What does the door look like, what is it made of, how thick is it, and can I see the lock?

"Greetings Captain. My name is Tegid Darnin, a priest of Irori. Perhaps I can be of assistance. What kind of spells of restoration are needed? I may be able to cast the necessary spells myself."

Tegid quickly checks to see if any of the elves are still alive and if so he stabilizes them with a Cure Minor Wounds then ties them up with his rope his intention to take them aboard the ship and question them about the attack.

Afterward he searches all of the buildings for any survivors and any information about what might have happened.

Lastly, he lends the others a hand gathering any supplies they need and joins them on the boat.

"I hope you don't mind me joining you but I would rather not stay behind and my expertise may be of use on the trip up river."

Larkspring Irellion wrote:

If it had not been for you, I think we would have fared poorly. A servant of Irori, eh? He's a little too human-centered for my tastes; doesn't seem to care about the world beyond those who serve him. Just my opinion, though."

"It's unfortunate that even amongst those who love knowledge you find such bigotry. I think they often forget the reason for studying and gathering knowledge."

We had been out in the jungle for the last two weeks collecting samples of plants and animals and making sketches of some ruins that I found. I came back to the camp site after spending the day exploring and documenting the architecture of the ruins we found when I discovered the remains of Galu and Darguk. Apparently those damn bastards killed Darguk while he slept and used all of my research and sketches to start a fire to cook Galu with. Ahhhh, I will miss Galu. He was a good companion and all he asked for was the occasional bag of oates and to have his ears scratched. He probably would have out lived me if it was not for those bastards."

Knowledge: Nature to identify the gorilla creature. (1d20+8=19)

"Greetings. My name is Tegid Darnin. I am a follower of Irori, the all-knowing, and I am certainly glad to see you four." Tegid says as he approaches the group.

Sabriel Angelfire wrote:
Turning to the others she says, "can someone tell me what in the nine hells that was all about? Who were they, what is or rather was that, who are you and do you have any more of that healing?" She directs the last two comments at Tegid.

"Let me have a look at the wound."

As he's tending to Sabriel, "By the looks of it that beast was one of the rare four-armed jungle apes native to this area. I've seen a few in the wild during my research but I have never seen one tamed. The elves are a group native to the region as well but because they are usually pretty reclusive I have not had a chance to study them."

Knowledge: Local (untrained) to see what I know about the jungle elves. (1d20+2=20)

After tending to Sabriel's wounds he stands and turns to the rest. "Besides our furry friend here does anyone else need their wounds tended?"

"There. If I may, what brings you four to this region, are there any more with you, and did you find any survivors? Those elves seem to have been pretty thorough in their slaughter."

Larkspring dashes up the bridge further trying to get up to where all the action is and help his friends anyway he can.

The wounded elf turns and attempts to attack the bear with his spear but it gets caught up in some cloth hanging down from the stalls. He yells at the four armed creature for help. The other elf jabs out with his spear at Sabriel and misses by inches. An elf can be seen by some coming out of the toll booth, spear in hand, making his way down the bridge.

Triska fires off a shots at the large creature and is successful with both. The beast roars but seems unfazed by the wounds.

The elf attacking Sabriel manages to get his spear up to defend himself but it does not help the faster lady who slices him open deeply. He stands there amazed at how the sword snuck in to wound him, he shakes it off thou with a snarl and prepares to attack the lady again.

Fir easily finishes off the elf standing in front of him, both paws slaming into the poor elf.

Tegid finally makes it up the ballista platform and tries to work the weapon but once up there he sees the thing is totally useless. The damage is to great to try and fix it in time to help, the battle would be over.

The gorilla moves up and attacks Fir with one of its claws raking it across his back leaving a blood trail as he does.(7 hps dam).

Lark at R24, Elves at T25 and R36, Gorilla at R26, Triska at R22, Sabriel at T25 and Tegid at T28. Next Round!

Seeing that the ballista is irreparably damaged Tegid turns, raises his holy symbol, and targets the gorilla with a chant of doom.

Casts Doom on the four-armed gorilla

Larkspring draws his steel and races up the bridge to help where he can but he seems to have fallen behind a bit.

The two elves in the merchant stalls launch arrows at Sabriel when they see her. One hits her in the shoulder and the other get caught up in one of the clothes hanging down between stalls. (7 hps dam).

Leaping from the building and landing with a little pain, Triska quickly aims and launches an arrow at one of the elves firing at Sabriel. She hits one of the elves in the thigh who yells in pain and turns to see who hurt him but then notices the female he just fired upon charging him, she swings but luckly misses her aim more for his brother than him. But a moment later a big claw comes in and pounds the wounded elf in the arm ripping it open. The elf manages to stay on his feet and prepares his next attack.

After a quick duck into one of the building to reload, Tegid races down the bridge past the bear heading for the elf he wounded earlier. As he just passes the food stores building he hears a whistle kind of call and seconds later the double doors to the building burst open and out comes a massive beast about 8 feet tall, broad chested, covered with pure white fur and looks to weigh about 800 pounds. It looks to be somekind of ape creature but no ape you have ever seen has four arms. It screams in rage and advances on the first thing it sees......Tegid continues his run for the Ballista platform and turns to see one very angry creature.......

Next round! Lark at Q15, Elves at T25 and T26(Wounded) plus the one in the toll booth, Triska at R23, Sabriel at T25, Fir at S26 and Tegid at T28

As Tegid races towards the ballista platform he is spurred on as the four-armed gorilla creature bursts out of the double doors and encourages him to run a little faster. When Tegid makes the top of the platform he takes a second to survey the bridge before trying to turn the ballista and aim it towards the ape.

Knowledge: Architecture and Engineering(c) (1d20+8=14) to see if he can figure out how to operate this thing and to aim it at the gorilla.

Also, where is the gorilla located?

After reloading his crossbow Tegid ducks out of the clerks office and sprints towards the stairs for the ballista platform praying that he'll make it there without any additional holes...

Full move (Run) to T28.

"Is that all you can do?!" Tegid shouts as the arrow cuts through the cloth of his sleeve leaving a trail of blood along his arm. Tegid begins to quickly move down the bridge but ducks inside the clerks office, surprised by Triska jumping down off the roof, to gain some cover while he reloads his crossbow.

Move action: move to S18
Standard Action: reload crossbow

Shield of Faith (+2 Deflection bonus to AC for 38 rounds) increasing his AC to 17.

Larkspring dashes back into cover of the alley way across the bridge. He makes it there with no problems, no attacks come flying his way.

The three elves move up the bridge trying to gain shots at the bear who tore their brother apart. They take up positions in the merchant stalls and in the ally of the armoury-food store buildings. They try to melt into the buildings.

Triska follows Sabriel to the other edge of the building watching the new comer start to advance down the bridge.

The bear having just finished off the elf looks around for a new target but fails to see anyone on the roofs of its building or any others at the moment. A few seconds later everyone hears a new comer to the battle rush down the bridge and start shooting in the direction of the other end of the bridge. An elf just emerged from the other ends toll booth checking to see where his other brothers ran off too gets nicked by a bolt. He quickly jumps back into the safety of the building.

Next round! Tegid roll damage on the elf, go ahead and roll att and dam for your action unless you miss real bad of course! It will keep the pace going faster. Elves locations are unsure to your pc's but the toll booth elf-S41. Tegid at R14, Lark at P10, Fir at O18, Sabriel and Triska at S18 and 19!

Fir bats the spear aside and tears into the elf ending it's life, bits and pieces of the elf going in all directions. The new comer stands at the gate and sees a bear on top of the roof tearing a jungle elf apart, on the roof of the station house, two ladies who look like they can take care of themselves are moving into their own positions. He also sees three elves down at the other end of the bridge moving up towards them trying to gain closer positions and the ladies don't seem to have notice them yet..........

Seeing the elves approach from the opposite end of the bridge and noticing that the other strangers haven't noticed them yet Tegid takes off down the center of the bridge, fires at the elves, and shouts to get the elves attention, "You rat bastard sons of Rovagug! I'll kill you for eating Galu!"

Tegid casts Shield of Faith (+2 Deflection bonus to AC for 240 seconds) increasing his AC to 17 and loads his crossbow. He is standing at R8.
