I know a MW for Diplomacy has been specifically ruled out, but I just thought I’d throw this out.
Superior Vestment:
Cost 50 gp.
Gives a +2 bonus on Diplomacy with beings that least have some reason to respect the Deity. They need not be followers but simply have no reason to actively dislike the Deity and a general respect for Gods. The vestments must show the symbol of a specific deity to whom the PC worships.
Because of the fine workmanship required the vestments become faded and useless after 10 Diplomacy checks (I know this is a bit of a fudge, but I couldn’t think of any other way of doing it ‘game mechanically’)
If for some reason a being has a reason to dislike the Deity who's symbol is displayed, then a -2 penalty applies to the Diplomacy check i.e. Symbol of Pharasma and intelligent undead or a being philosophically opposed i.e. a practiser of Necromancy.
The +2 & -2 bonus/penalty are subject to DM discretion and need not be disclosed to the player.
