Tavros sends a word of protection towards Teniel before grabbing 2(+?) creates near him and making physical contact with Alree An.
Hearing voices that don't belong to them, Tavros immediately picks up as many of the crates next to him as he can, awkwardly moving to link up with one of his siblings. "Let's hope they haven't put anything in place to stop us leaving..." he mutters softly.
Tavros copies his brother, summoning his own unseen servant and commanding it to help move eggs from some of the further crates into the closer ones. With one eye on the automatons, he makes use of his great strength to bring several crates nearby, simultaneously limiting the distance needed to carry the eggs and keeping the crates they would grab for teleportation nearby.
Seeing the robots stand down, Tavros hesitantly moves forward. He experimentally hefts one crate slightly. "By weight, probably quite a few. Balancing all them might be a bit hard though. Maybe try to transfer as many eggs as we can to a few crates? Although I'm not sure how much time we'll have..."
Visibly cringing, Tavros hurriedly ushers the rest of his family into the room before shutting the door. He stands there, torn between try to hold the door shut and slamming his fists into the yelling robots. His eyes dash about nervously as he prepares for battle while hoping that Maks soothing words will calm the metal people.
Not wanting to stand out in the very open hallway, Tavros quickly ducks inside the room. While his siblings work on talking to the robots, he keeps a eye out for other entrances or signs of not-metallic guards.
"Maybe they're less guards and more workers? Moving the eggs or rotating them or replacing their straw or something? Although perhaps they double as guards. Or there are other guards out of sight," Tavros whispers back, using his height to look over the heads of his siblings. "Is it better to hide out in the hallway or in there do you think?" His eyes flick around the chamber, looking for larger crates or pillars to hide behind or dark corners. Or other signs of guards.
Tavros shifts uncomfortably as his sisters deal with the lock, attempting rather poorly to make himself seem as small as possible.
Tavros continues to chill back at the monastery. He enjoys sparring with some of the monks. It was kind of like being back home with Father and sparring with his siblings. Except, well, the monks all looked kind of weird. He would never say so to their face of course, he knew enough to know that that would be rude. But still, their styles were quite different from what he had been taught, and it was an interesting challenge to try to adjust to them.
"It might be easier for all of you if I stayed here. Although if you think I could be of help, I can go along."
"Yeah, I don't think I can help much with the invisibility. Even if I had it in my spellbook, I would only have enough energy to cast it once a day. Perhaps some of you could at least pass as servants, which would reduce the need for it. I have at least been practicing my ability to hide, so I should be a bit less of a burden." And maybe there will be something heavy to lift, so I can be helpful.
Just a heads up, I'm going to be out of town from tomorrow through Tuesday or Wednesday. Bot me as necessary.
Tavros sheds his fake guard's clothing, taking the time to munch on a few pieces of food he managed to sneak out with him. The next day he meets with his family to discuss what's to be done. "I do not think I know any spells that would help with breaking in. The best I could do is grab some scrolls of spells to copy in to my spellbook that would make me less noticeable for the sneaking part, but those would only last around 4 minutes." "It's less elegant, but I could also pick up something that might help with breaking, but not much."
Tavros remains silent. He had nothing of particular to report. And to be honest, he was a little surprised his siblings were talking so freely of what they found in front of Lord Gonzago's servant person. He wasn't really sure why, but the man's master made him uncomfortable. And he had little doubt Lishon would report everything he heard back to him.
Tavros begins to be more concerned as things start to head towards their departure. He at the very least would likely have to leave since he doubted few would fail to notice his large form lurking about even after Lord Gorgon had left. "What should we do? Lucina still isn't back yet. Do you think she ran in to trouble?"
Frowning under his mask, Tavros stands up to his full height to attempt to determine if his missing sister is anywhere to be seen. "I have not seen her recently." I hope she isn't in too much trouble.
Since his mouth is covered anyway, Tavros doesn't bother to cover his. He supposed it was one advantage to the helmet, but this did little to console his grumbling tummy. "I did not see where our other sisters went. I can look around for them, but likely they are nowhere that I could go without drawing attention."
Behind his helmet, Tavros makes a sad face. Made all the sadder by the fact that he didn't bring a bag to put food it. Unconsciously attempting to live vicariously through his brother, he keeps attempting to push food upon him. Similarly, when Alree An comes to join them, he keeps offering her various pieces of food. "There are many paths to Father. The more that are explored, the more likely we are to find him. Besides, any who know my brother would know that he likes to spin tales. Although admittedly, most of those here do not know that."
Tavros nods in understanding. We may as well enjoy some of the food then. With Teniel still on his shoulder, he strides towards where the servants' refreshments are and starts sampling, offering some to his Wayang parrot. As he does so, he continues to look around for other gnomes in case the icy one chose to show up as well.
Tavros relaxes when the women finally move away. Guess they got bored. He blinks at the tapping on his foot, too absorbed with the women to have noticed his brother slip up to him. Suppressing a grin, he easily lifts the small Wayang on to his shoulder, inclining his head in acknowledgement of his words. Not entirely sure why Teniel is speaking in Draconic, he nonetheless softly replies back in the same tongue.. "អ្នកហាក់ដូចជាបានគូរពិតជាហ្វូងមនុស្សមួយ។ តើយើងទៅបិទនៅជុំវិញនៅទីនេះឬដូច្នោះវង្វេងបិទ?" ("You seem to have drawn quite a crowd. Are we to stick around here or likewise wander off?")
Behind his helmet, Tavros blinks. Why were these women acting so odd? And why did they seem to like his armor so much? Since he was kind of in a hurry, he briefly considered giving it to them, but he thought Lord Gondola wouldn't appreciate that. Plus he might look a bit odd wearing just the helmet and "boots" of his armor and get scolded for being out of uniform, meaning he'd be slowed down even more. Remembering the "don't talk unless spoken to rule," he's glad when the women finally seem to ask him something. Shrugging slowly he responds, "I'm very sorry ladies, but I don't understand what you're asking of me." Uncertain if it would be considered rude to try to leave, Tavros looks around for people he knows for guidance. Maybe now that they know I don't understand them, they will quickly lose interest.
Tavros is about to step in to aid in the distraction, but before he even has a chance to, his sister has already made the swap. She's getting better at that... Bowing slightly to Lord Gorgon, Tavros also moves to take his "break," half looking at Lishon, who is probably still occupied with the dishes, to make sure that that he was getting the etiquette correct. Ish anyway. Normally he wouldn't care, but all the fanciery ha put him kind of on edge. He was starting to miss the simplicity of the monks' temple. Not as much as he missed the simplicity of home, surrounded by his siblings though. He sighed wistfully at the thought. He heads off in vaguely the same direction as everybody else, sure that his family would have no trouble finding him when they re-convened to start the next phase of their plan.
Tavros does his best to look big and guard-like. He does the former quite well. The latter, less so. It's probably a good thing that the helmet covers most of his face. He is at least aware enough to do as much looking around by only moving his eyes rather than his head, although he moves his head as well (he is a guard looking for danger after all). He uses his great height to look out for any small people, especially gnomes, since that's what Mr. Meanie-Ice-Pants had last looked like.
I believe the I in I/E for MBTI actually refers to if you introvert or extrovert your primary function and less about if you are an introvert vs extrovert. Or at least, that's the theory behind it. For all I know the actual implementation has diverged from that. Also, I believe we were told that the "Try to use the necklace as part of a show" stunt wouldn't fly.
Just a heads up, I'm going to be at a reunion from Friday until Sunday afternoon, so my posting might be sparse. On an unrelated note, were we trying to spend some of that 26k before the party/in the days leading up to it?
Tavros nods, taking Champawat's sword solemnly.
He shifts, uncomfortable in his armor. While it wasn't especially heavy, it was constricting.
Tavros still didn't really understand all the intricacies that people tended to toss in to normal interactions, but he had started to spend enough time around his siblings that he was picking up a few things. Like Teniel tended to exaggerate just a little bit. It wasn't often and it generally seemed to be in order to make his stories more interesting, but there had been a few stretches in there. He also wasn't quite as versed in being light-fingered as some of his family, but just grabbing a necklace off of someone and swapping it out with another sounded rather, well, hard. Especially if the woman was as perceptive as Mr. Gorgonzola said. What if they were caught in the act? Was there really no better way to go about making the switch?
Tavros puts the helmet on. He considered asking about the expected break time or what the reaction might be to being found outside of the common guest areas. But, well, the information didn't actually seem all the relevant. Since they were likely to try to find out about Mr. Snowball during that time, they would get back when they got back and go where they needed regardless of whatever he told them.
I like watching Doctor Who with my mom because she watched the original when she was little. I tried going back and watching from the very start, but it was too painful for me. The first Doctor's personality just seemed really inconsistent and his granddaughter, who has theoretically done a lot of traveling/exploring before the series started, acts way too freaked out by everything. I also saw some cowboy episode where they kept repeating the same few bars of some "Last Chance Saloon" song at the beginning of every episode. Which wouldn't have been so bad if the episodes hadn't been so short. I still kind of want to watch more of it though since I'm reading a fanfic with Jo Grant + whichever Doctor traveled with Jo (3?).
I feel like whatever Rose did, the Doctor did worse. Namely, "Oh yes, let's totally let the Dalek free to kill the entire world just so I can spend a few more minutes talking to Rose." The whole, "I killed her once; I can't do it again!" thing was BS. I love River though. Even if she does make me really sad. And Jack. Rory I was originally not a fan of, but he definitely grew on me. Also, if the necklace does have mind-affecting stuff on it, Teniel could always make a big show of "changing" Mak's mind. Maybe give us a better position to bargain from.
Tavros picks up the helmet with great interest. Sure, it was a little drab, but maybe he could get Maks to paint it for him later. He loved the way it interacted with his horns. The cloak was also quite nice. Very important for bull fighters, especially if they knew paso doble. The armor he was significantly less interesting. It looked like it would be tight even though it was at least made for someone his size. I wonder if we'll get to keep this when we're done... Somehow he doubted it. But maybe if he asked nicely, he could get his brother to make him a pretty cloak and helmet. For now he lets his siblings handle questions. He didn't want to assault the man with a torrent of words. If he had any questions they left out, he would have a chance to bring them up later.
I barely remember Martha. :(But she was the BEST ONE! D: D: D: First time through the show, Martha was my favorite, I think largely just because she was just such a large contrast to Rose, who I thought was a git (now I realize that I'm far more annoyed by the way the Doctor acts around Rose than Rose herself). On later viewings, I think I started to like Donna more. Maybe partially because she wasn't in love with the Doctor. Also sass. Plus then there's The Ballad of Russell and Julie.
Tavros nods as his companions speak: mind-altering magic would be bad. Sure he didn't personally have experience with it, but it was basically just the magical equivalent of the drinks he had been given to keep him half crazed and manic back in this tribe. Although the effects were probably different. He would do his best to help identify any magics placed on the necklace, but he doubted he'd be much help with swapping it. He could be quiet when he wanted to, but deception and subterfuge had simply never been skills he saw worth developing. Of course, he could also be very not quiet when he wanted to, which was likely to be of more use. The goatling dance in particular seemed like it might be useful. Or paso doble or tap. All were rather stompy in different ways. He turns to his companions. "Given that I suspect I will be a distraction of sorts, it might be better to go without my hat. Or would that be too much of a distraction? It just seems like the hat may be more beneficial in someone else's hands for this."
"If we go to the party, perhaps Teniel can tell of our search for our master. It seems like it would be a good opportunity to spread word of father since the more people that know, the more likely someone with information will approach us. Plus I would welcome any opportunity to dance with more people. Even if I suspect everyone will be a bit too small to really be my partner."
Tavros is careful with his sparring. He had done well so far; only killing that first initial goatman shaman before he had remembered how to aim to wound and weaken rather than main and kill. He doesn't actually manage to work any of the kata into dances, but you can see him contemplating how it might work. In regards to talking with Alree in private, Tavros pipes up. "There's a spell that can help with at least casual observation, though I can't learn it."
Tavros whispers loudly to his companions. "He means Irori." Since Maks was planning on sparring anyway, Tavros will try to spar with her in order to get an audience and try to convince a few monks to spar with him. In response to Alree An, he says, "Weren't we supposed to stick around for a trial of the pirates? And I think some of my siblings wanted to check out the town?" Showing a remarkable amount of social intelligence, he adds, "Though it may be best if I stay here. Which is fine; I can spend my time sparring. Or tap dancing. Maybe some of the monks would like to learn a thing or two."
Also, @Maks, that Doctor Who vid was interesting. I can't help but think that the Doctor may have been less lonely if he hadn't had been an idiot with Martha. Or had actually let Lady whats-her-name (Christina maybe?) come with him because I thought she was pretty cool. But eh. 11 also loses companions, but he has less of them overall to lose.
Tavros considers asking about the temple they were asked to find when his sister beat him to it. As they're shown around, Tavros begins to grow excited at this new place that wasn't a tiny little boat. The tatami mats were, admittedly, not quite as cool as a hammock, but they were still interesting. Having room to practice also sounded terrific. He could maybe get one of his siblings to spar with him. Hopefully some of the monks too, but he knew training could be rigorous and very structured and he didn't want to throw them off. He wasn't quite as interested in the art work as Maks or Teniel. He never really saw the point of looking at the same thing for an extended period of time. Once you had seen something you had, well, seen it. He had been told that the longer you looked the more you saw, but that had never seemed to work for him. Maybe he just didn't know enough about it. The bath and fresh clothes would be nice though. As would laying out on the ground and stretching to his full length.
When the tarp is removed, Tavros promptly sneezes from the dusty thing. Out of reflex, he moves to blow his nose on the tarp. Upon realizing what he just did, he gives the monks a sheepish look. "Err, sorry. I can wash that for you, if you want." Realizing that they probably didn't understand him, he makings a rubbing motion before giving Maks and Teniel a wide eyed What do I do now?/Can you translate for me? look. He's too busy looking awkward about his behavior to really notice their reaction to him.
Tavros perks up from where he's been admiring his new spells in his spell book. "Oh, they found the temple then? Maybe it's near the dwarven fort Champawat mentioned. That's exciting! Finding the temple AND our family is getting better at communicating over a distance! I'm sure this means we're not too far from finding father!" He grins optimistically at him companions and then looks in the direction the ship is traveling, clearly trying to will it to move faster, so they can continue sooner.
Tavros gives the captain a "But I'm so cute and lovable. Why would people be afraid of me?" look with his big brown eyes. He seems to have forgotten that he was knocking many of the sailors out with a single blow during the battle. During the journey, Tavros jumps overboard every once in a while to run about on the ocean and generally stretch his legs.
Tavros perks up when he hears Alree speak of messaging magic. "Is this the sort of thing where you have to personally know the people you're sending a message to? Or how exactly does it work?" It wasn't hard to tell that the minotaur was hoping to contact more of their family. Possibly even Goodwin himself, though it seemed more likely that he would be shielded from such messages. Or out of range. As might the rest of their family.
"Hmm, there was a dwarven fort? Why were they going to be attacked? And why send you here?" Tavros turns to Teniel. "You know about shadow things; have you ever heard of one of these shadow prisoner people?"
Uggg, I have stayed up far too late figuring this out. After much debate, I've decided to stick with my original plan and do the Weapon Master/PoW archetype fighter for my cheese dip. Thus far I've picked 3/4 of my disciplines, 3/4 of my maneuvers, and my stance. Disciplines: Broken blade, mithral current, primal fury (I want to work on having Tavros slowly start to lose control and then eventually get him to be ok with that)
If I don't finish my level up by sometime tomorrow/today I guess, I will be sad.
