![]() The Gauntlet is hiring adventure companies for cash??? Sign me up! That’s right – you and five friends constitute an Adventuring Company and you can be sponsored by The Gauntlet. What do you have to do? Apply for membership and be admitted, agree to be bound by the albeit loose guidelines we have established – which mainly involve having fun, watching your buddies back, respecting the diplomatic relations of The Gauntlet, and (if of legal age) drinking beer and scotch. Once you are admitted, then you stay with us through the Land Rush and the War of the Towers. How much? $115 of legal tender of the USA. Why that amount? Well, you get a group of six and they each get $15 which basically pays for a month of PFO. We pay money, you play PFO, PFO thinks we’re cool and informs the Karma Gods, the Karma Gods feed us olives and fan us with palm fronds when the afterlife claims us – it’s a Win-Win baby! On top of the $15 that each of the six individuals get, the leader of your erstwhile band (who is one of the six) gets an additional $25 once the War of the Towers ends. How do we pay you? Via email thru Paypal. Once you are a member thru Goblinworks you sign up on our website so we have a way to communicate. Payment will go out at the rate of $15 per week for the remaining weeks of the Land Rush. That way you get payment now and know we are serious. Your leader tells us the six members and the order in which payment should be issued. What’s the catch? None. We hope to establish a viable Settlement and are putting our money forward – anyone else doing that? Not yet but maybe some groups will follow. What if we pay you one week and then you leave the guild? This is America – the land of the brave and the home of the free! (Poetic license) You are free to leave, and we just won’t pay you the following week. No hard feelings, and our Alt accounts in Golgotha probably won’t come after you. Probably. Oh yeah, and we may stop taking people on whenever we please. If you dig what we are about, are cool in game and not a complete knucklehead, then we hope you and your band will stay with us for the long haul. You want autonomy? Dude, we are a group of Libertarians so autonomy is our middle name! (not technically true – we all have middle names but none of our birth certificates say “autonomy”) Got a small guild right now that is not in the top 30 for Land Rush – perfect opportunity for you! If you don’t have a band of six then you can still apply and join for the $15 spiff and when the time comes we will form you into a Company.

![]() The Gauntlet is a group of seasoned (read “old”) gamers forming a settlement on the fringe of “civilized” society and we are HIRING adventuring companies (consisting of 6 players) to join our cause. The adventuring company known as The Gauntlet have been so successful they have destroyed the economy of tabletop RPG. So we are going to bring some of that flavor to PFO. Wanna know more about the hiring part? We’ll get to it. So who are we? A bunch of dudes who went to college together and have gamed together for years both tabletop and MMORPG. We are mature (read “old”) who have real lives that sometimes get in the way of gaming. We have kids who are smart and talented and backtalk too much. We have spouses who dig us and have done so for years because we have integrity and are loyal. Our spouses accept our little gaming vice because they recognize how bad other vices could be – we dig Vegas but don’t want to blow our coin on coke and tramps. We don’t LARP but have a good buddy who does and he kicks royal ass at it! We were there when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor (and if you don’t know that reference then do not apply.) We have successful careers and money in our bank accounts. We will throw that money at anything that catches our fancy because pay day is always good and hell if we don’t spend it now our wives will buy another pair of shoes or a black skirt. We drink good beer and better scotch and we talk about it. So what is our cause? To have a damn good time and not take ourselves or PFO too seriously. Hell no we don’t have a charter. We don’t have anything against them, but we don’t want to spend time on that formal stuff and frankly that is way too “L” for our tastes. We are an NG group with Lawful tendencies. We believe in personal freedom but not at the expense of others and NEVER at the expense of your loyalty and integrity to the Band of Brothers. As a citizen in our settlement you can play as you want but must respect the diplomatic relations we have established. If you make us look bad you get the boot. If you wanna go in a different direction then tell us that, walk away and enjoy! Or buy another account, that’s what we would do. We believe in cooperative game play but you still need to carry your weight. The first time you come to my house I will get the beer for you. The second time you come around you better help yourself to the beer because I am not getting up from the couch. Will your company be able to maintain its identity and have some decision making authority? Sure you can so long as you honor our diplomatic relations. In fact, if you’re good at it you may be promoted to run the whole settlement! You want something more formal than that? Well write it up and send it our way – just because we won’t write it doesn’t mean we won’t read yours. Do we have a website? Hell yes www.gauntletguild.com. Is it awesome? No! Because we want to spend our time gaming and living. But if we ever want it to be awesome we’ll just hire a web designer to develop and manage it. Maybe one of you can do it – who wants to be webmaster? Oh yeah – the hiring part. Cash on the barrel head baby. Greenbacks. Lawful Currency of the good ol’ US of Freakin’ A. Federal Reserve Notes courtesy of Paypal. You interested? Shoot me a PM and more details to follow. ![]()
![]() The Gauntlet has floated a similar idea to nearby neighbors and we are interested in continuing the discussion. I suspect that the groups who chose this corner were, like us, intrigued by the frontier. Like any frontier dangers lurk and help is often leagues away. In addition, as the game expands, it will be the frontier settlements who will be the first to explore beyond the edge. |
