It was cool getting to see you all. Looking forward to then get together.

good to meet you - BTW I found myself a mini to represent my gnomeish-dwarflike ranger although now he's going to have to go with crossbow instead of longbow.

Here he should be shipping soon, hopefully he will be painted and ready next time we play!

If anyone wants to draw up the character behind this profile, I would love it. He's a gnome who was born without their magical abilities, so doesn't have all of the youthful brillience that most gnomes have. This makes him rather earth-toned, and a little more gruff (dwarf-like) than other gnomes.. He carries a bow and short sword, and is always carving walking sticks. *click on the picture for the rest of his background*

just in case I loose track of this thread... my email is e-gendron(at)Charter(dot)net

Thanks!

Good luck with the character! He sounds great. :)

Thanks - I originally wrote the background for a PBP here (IE the The profile I'm posting with right now) the pathfinder society version is a little different, but very similar to this one.. Stats are the major difference.

Male Gnome Ranger 1

Tamai aims and fires his bow

Male Gnome Ranger 1

Tamai nocks an arrow, and waits to see what happenes. Not knowing how Aldern feels about killing animals that arn't the quarry, or it it was worth hitting the animal where he can see it.

delaying to see if Aldern or the animal attack

Male Gnome Ranger 1

Rolls:
Perception (1d20 6=15)
init (1d20 2=19)

Tamai slows his pony to a stop and holds up a hand pointing silently at the animal.

I'll post tonight - don't have my sheet at work any more ( thought ti was still here....)

I've seen it go many different ways, from emails after each fight to

give me a lvl 2 sheet ASAP

personally, I enjoy the email version, because it keeps the realism and does less bogging down the game itself with technical stuff - and its not like your character just poofs into the powers, that way it feel like they have gained them over time.

Male Gnome Ranger 1

Tamai Walks over and inspects the animals Aldren has selected for the group, waiting for the nobleman to notice him before Clearing his throat and saying So what are we hunting, and what kind of hunting are going? bow? trap? spear?

I think that Tamai is on vacation until this weekend. I am about to put up a post setting up Aldern so that you all can go there at your own time. If you wanted to put up a post for yourself and Tamai if you think you have a feel for his character, that would make my world a whole lot easier, otherwise I can put up something for him as well.

Just settling in from vacation now - I won't have the brainpower to post a coherent in character response until tonight (most likly between 8-9 EST)

Or thats just where they thought they could get into the most trouble without running into dogs and horses... with all those people there, the animals wouldn't feel comfortable, and Gobos know their fears pretty well. Tamai nods to the sheriff as he stands I will stay at least until you return. If you permit the use of an animal to send word to Sanos Forest with word of the attack it would be appreciated.

I have some concerns about the fire that was nearly started in the square where you were located. Was this a concentrated effort? Gobbos are known for their love of fires, but normally they burn targets of opportunity. Where we found the wagon, it was further away from the walls then where it was when awaiting the ceremony, so either the goblins are dumber then even I give them credit for, or they were trying for something specific. That seems even more likely since they attacked that square in such numbers.

Or they just spotted all the food - Gobs get distracted by stuff like that..

...or the flammables, or the large number of people with their backs turned, or the ability to take out a dog, or the many hiding places the square provided
Tarlane wrote:

Defiantly NOT a gnome,1) we aren't 'longshanks' and 2) we would never ally with anything that smelled that bad!

"Now, on to why I called you here. Shalelu here is something of an employee of the town, not quite a guard but certainly more then a mercenary. She does her best to keep the forests around Sandpoint as safe as possible and often warns us before any threats happen. The attack yesterday snuck beneath even her radar, so I brought her in to tell her what has happened here and she is going to try and follow the goblins to their source as we don't even know which tribe the assault came from."

Ah, so maybe I can come to like this maid. Hosk was attacked by Goblins on his way back from getting a prized horse, that's why he's injured, you may want to talk to him about that before you go out. We were just discussing alerting my gnomish settlement when we were interrupted by the events leading to this attack

I do not expect a further attack so soon, since the goblins took heavy losses they will take time to build up enough force to consider returning,

Male Gnome Ranger 1

Tamai is either staying with Hosk of the herbalist, depending on Hosk's condition

After the soldier appears as the door, Tamai decides to pick up the young archer from the day before. Nothing to stop heartache like being recognized for good deeds. He goes to the boy's house to pick him up and hopes that the lad got at least a little sleep the night before.

have any idea how hard it is to find a picture of a dwarf without a beard!?

1 Potion<Bubbling Red>

Tamai piles the dogslicers and asks the blacksmith if they ould buy them. If not he asks them to melt the weapons down any way. He takes the masterwork studded armor for himself, and carefully places the potions aside saying "Hannah can help us correctly identify these" As long as none of the other defenders want it, he asks Hosk to hold onto the horsechopper, arrows and bow... telling him to set up targets near his stable that he could teach the kids of town how to shoot.

Hehe, even knowing background/personality, I'm still struggling to get Tamai's speech to be in a constant format.. looking something in between a Butler and Yosemite Sam(when mad) when speaking Chelax, and a little more normal vocabulary when talking sylvan.

Male Gnome Ranger 1

Sylvan: I agree, I will check the bodies of these goblins for anything useful or worthwhile, clerics do not come without their prices, especially in times of great need He then checks the bodies of the goblins.

Give him time to mourn, but if you would extend mine and the mayors invitation to meet at the garrison in the morning, I would be very grateful. I should find the others now."

Tamai stops and looks at the sheriff and puts a grim smile on his face "I'll stay with Hosk if you need me - I just met the boy, but I'll do my best to help him" He walks over to Jinn and the elf saying in Sylvan

Spoiler:
The mayor and the sheriff would like to see us in the morning - all of us who helped stop the thieving lizards. Help me get the young man to a state where he can process and move on

Tamai watches silently and waits. Years as a warden had seen many of his friends die... and he knew that grief is sometimes better with someone standing there able to support you if needed, but as a silent sentinel. This is why churches have so many statues, he thinks. Since, he is still on the wagon with the firewood, he looks absently for a charred, but not actively burned log, which he can carve a pocket-able size bust of the woman's face for Jinn to keep with him.

Everyone: The creature climbs out of the box, walks over to Ox and sits on it's haunches as if it is waiting for a command. Ox looks at it in disgust and decides to put it out of it's misery, decapitating it (rolled a double 20) the creature melts where it stood and more knocking can be heard coming from the box, a minute later the koala-like creature climbs out again, with Ox's face, and sits where the original one had. Ox walks over to Arius and Anju and whispers What is that thing, Why is it looking at me like that, and why does it look LIKE me? This part (the creature) isn't actually in the books, its just an awesome wondrous item that I want to see what you'll do with. once you figure it out

Arius:

Spoiler:
you can make a knowledge arcana check if you feel like studying the creature or the box it came from

Male Gnome Ranger 1

Tamai looks sideways at Jinn and sighs. Being small, he crawls down to see if he can identify the girl as the Young man's love before he notices the smell/body. perception:sight check (I'm going to look for another roller cause invis castle doesn't like me when I'm at work... keeps giving me errors )

He tries to prevent any larger people from climbing onto the wagon, for he doesn't want a log to roll over and damage the body any more than it is already..

If he does identify the body as that of Jinn's girl, he will first cover it with something before bringing it from the woodpile. If he is not able to do identify it, he will make sure the logs around the bottom are sturdy, and then quietly ask Jinn to carefully join him on top of the pile.

Tamai pulls his short sword and starts sorting through the burned wood, hoping that the smell is burned goblin and not a towns-person.

Male Gnome Ranger 1

Tamai walks over to the others who helped defend the town and asks if they are ok, thinking that Hosk would be disappointed about missing this fight, and wondering if Hosk's staff had come back to him as a message. He takes out his current piece of work, and starts to whittle a design to remind him of his questions later, when in the company of some who will listen to them and maybe know the answers. Then he looks up at the burning wagon of wood and walks over to the well to help organize a bucket brigade.

Male Gnome Ranger 1

shot at the one on the table 1D20+6 damage 1D6+3 I'm leaving for home and invisible castle is erroring out on me

Male Gnome Ranger 1

Hey I had to double move just to get that close... I only have 20 move speed you know!

Male Gnome Ranger 1

Picking up his bow from the the ground, he moves over and sheathes his sword drawing a bead on the goblin on the table

Male Gnome Ranger 1

[occ]I can't access the map right now - keep getting an error, so this is from memory [/ooc]
Tamai Drops his bow and grabs his short sword, stabbing at the goblin who had attacked him (if that the one that died since that time, then he'll shoot at the closest one)

attack
damage

Male Gnome Ranger 1

hey! I said the ugly foreman was mine! If the leader is still up he tries to hit it, if she's down then he hits the closest goblin to a party member

12 to hit for 8 damage

Male Gnome Ranger 1

I'm good either way with the maps

Male Gnome Ranger 1

perception
Tamai stands and looks to the mounted combatant - We have armed resistance - other parts of the city might not - act as a scout!? and use your height as an advantage to spot the junk diggers.

He then takes a shot at the leader

attack

Male Gnome Ranger 1

Tamai steps around the barrel and goes to one knee, Firing at the goblin directly in front of him (between himself and and the leader) He yells Leave the leader for me!! Darn Rust wearing waste smelling goblins!

My question then would be how everyone feels about if something changes after you have declared your action, do you want me to try and adapt your action(if I think I can) or do you want me to wait until you repost? For example, if someone declared they were going to attack the injured goblin, but he dropped before their turn came up, should I automatically assume they aim at the next most likely target in range, or should I wait and let them adjust their action?

-Tarlane

You can adapt my posts however you want, either due to circumstance (IE my target died) or to better the story.

If I think there is a possibility my action is going to be invalid before it happens, I will usually either do a OOC portion with what my second option is

Male Gnome Ranger 1

Tarlane - although its too late now, I found the fan made maps I was talking about - you can even see the dead dog in them (there is a slight spoiler in the second one for anyone who hasn't read/played past the first fight sequence) Maps

Male Gnome Ranger 1

Tamai runs forward and fires another shot, this one at the goblin that has the audacity to attack a young human in the the square.

attack
damage

Male Gnome Ranger 1

I know it's not my turn yet, but I'm heading to the GF's house so better to post now and apply as needed. Tamai bares his teeth and replies in sylvan to Dannie use yer ways to help the townsfolk.. m'lady now 'tis not a time for games He fires another shot at whichever goblin looks to be closest to hurting a townsperson and looks back at her also might want to stay back in that slip, won't do much good against those junk swords of theirs.

attack

Male Gnome Ranger 1

Tamai grits his teeth and moves a bit closer firing another arrow.

rolls

Male Gnome Ranger 1

umm... I do at home, at work.. it depends wich computer I'm on that day

Male Gnome Ranger 1

Tamai Leaps immediately forward with a growl like a bear, yelling The menaces! the rowdy good for nothings! you hurt my fried, junk diggers now die! he unslings his bow from his shoulder and fires off a shot at the nearest goblin.

firing one shot off - for Tamai with goblins, think Yosemite Sam from loony toons

Male Gnome Ranger 1

Tamai looks at Hosk and replies "I'll go, you lay here, rest, you won't be good to anyone in that condition, least of all those equine you service." He tosses Hosk his staff and follows Hannah out the door. Jogging to keep up with the longer legged humans, his mustache flowing behind him. He looks around puts his current carving away, and absently makes sure his short sword is loose and easy to draw in it's scabbard.
