Talu puts the cylinders back in order. "I'm sorry, I think that was my fault." She looks at the picture Gregor pointed out. "Medium, then low, then high? Though perhaps if we're to try it again, one of us should take them and the rest should stand back this time."

When Okashu falls, Talu... does nothing. "I can heal him," she says as she pauses to see if any of the other Pathfinders can do something to help, "but my healing is limited, so if someone else has a better way..."

If nobody else helps, cast soothe.

Talu puts her coins away. "So those are keys? But if they're not identical than the order probably matters. Hmm..."

"I suppose we test it with something we wouldn't mind losing too much," says Talu, examining the box. She draws three copper pieces from her purse and sets them into the indents to see if that produces any change.

"Thank you for your aid, spirits," says Talu.

If Okashu is taking the time, she'll meditate as well. "The entrance maybe. But they could have dug a tunnel. Or they might have been trapped inside rather than locked out. Difficult to say."

"Thank you, spirits." If the Pathfinders' foes wish to expend their efforts destroying the temporary forms of spirits already dead, Talu is glad for them to do it instead of attacking the Pathfinders themselves.

She calls forth another to strike at the creature that just stabbed Gregor, though it's not particularly effective. She then directs it to dive into the next one, passing from the mortal world as it channels life force from the gremlin into her injured ally.

◆◆ Cast Life Tap. Thrall is destroyed, Yellow must attempt a DC 17 Fort save, becoming Drained 1 on a non-critical success, Drained 2 on a failure, or Drained 3 on a critical failure. Gregor recovers as many HP as Yellow loses from becoming Drained.

"Such violent creatures," says Talu as she hurries into the room, "surely have past victims. Spirits, come to our help!"

She reaches out with her magic for any restless spirits, ideally past victims of the assailants, granting them just enough form to strike back and help protect the Pathfinders.
Two spirits emerge and strike at the creature attacking Gregor.

On the off chance the enemy is actually undead, Talu's Mastery of Life and Death feature means whenever she deals void (or vitality) damage, the target instead takes vitality (or void) damage if that would be more effective.
The thralls persist for one minute unless destroyed, which they probably will be. They are automatically hit if attacked, automatically fail any saves, and have 1 HP.
If Red is down, target Blue, though it won't be flanked for the first attack.

"If we hear sounds in two directions, we should probably check both. But if we know one direction has voices, I think we should probably check that first."

Talu points West again. "I vote that way."

Talu, meanwhile, points to the west. "I think I heard people speaking. I couldn't tell what they were saying--I think it's a language I don't speak."

"That does suggest Star didn't go that way, at least," Talu offers. She examines the patterns for any clues. "But I think they did go this way. Though... I didn't think Star cared about the Jistkan Imperium so I'm surprised they'd be so careful with these."

"I think Star caused those scratches. What would compel them to come in here despite how difficult it obviously is for them? They don't fit."

Talu peers down one of the side passages and considers. "Okashu may have a point--if there's something dangerous on the sides, we don't want to be flanked. But on the whole I think I agree." She points forward. "Direct route is best."

This room seems... oddly familiar, somehow.

Oh, I added a token I'm going to use for Talu's thralls. That's not a familiar or companion, and it is very unlikely to be in play at the start of an encounter.

Talu is okay at handling animals (in theory), though she's also small enough that she doesn't really need her own mount. Well, she'll bring one. It's good to have a spare.

The final Pathfinder squad member is a tiny woman with even tinier flowers in her hair. "Talu," she introduces herself, "a guide to the dead.
"So often the monsters and villains we face have past victims, restless souls that still linger. And a few of them, as they fall by our hands, realize too late that maybe they should have done some good in the world before they move on to face Pharasma. What I do is a form of necromancy, but don't worry--I'm hardly creating undead horrors. Just giving those souls just enough form to get in one last good deed, so they can move on in peace. Very temporary."
