Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Talacyst breathes somewhat easier as he sees more allies approach out of the gloom, but the fight isn't over yet. Returning to the back of the group, he fires another arrow at the approaching horrors.

1d20+4=9, 1d6=4

Anyone else thinking I should throw down my last Enlarge Person?

Also, Zoom, is there a good place I can stand to fire off a Burning Hands on these guys?

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Woohoo, laptop died, but I got my replacement up and running. Hopefully I'll improve at posting... Sorry folks.

Talacyst's eyes squint in the gloom at the still-approaching hordes of creatures. With time growing short, he produces a flask from his belt and throws it at the nearest cluster of foes.

Tossing an Alchemist's Fire at the nearest clump of enemies. 1d20+4=13, 1d6=4, with 1d6 extra fire damage to the target and 1 splash to any others adjacent to it.

Glad to see we have reinforcements! Welcome!

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Sorry for the delay everyone! My computer is deciding whether or not it's going to die on me or not, but for now she's running.
Talacyst darts through the door and moves into safety. Pausing, he glances in all directions, ensuring that everything is safe.

[ooc]Going to Listen/Spot to make sure we're not going to get attacked from behind... there's enough of these guys already.
Listen + Spot: 1d20+3=5, 1d20+3=15

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Glad I got the spell off since we still have two more monsties here, and maybe more coming... Gonna sit back a bit this round.

Talacyst nods as he sees Blackleaf's massive axe cleave through one of the horrors. Realizing the battle is still raging, he scoops up his longbow and moves a safe distance away from the combatants.

One action to grab the bow, another to move away keeps me busy this round. I'm just getting far enough away that none of the creatures is too close. Come on, let's whip these guys!

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

More monsties? Methinks it's time for some casting.

Fearing the problems that two more creatures would cause for him and his companions, Talacyst swiftly produces several components from his pouches. With a swift gesture and a series of syllables, he invokes a spell to give the already powerful Blackleaf increased size and strength.

Time to pull out my last Enlarge Person, and I'm going to cast it on Blackleaf again so we can get an Enlarged attack from him this round. You're going up to size Large, picking up a reach and taking -2 Dex, +2 Str and -1 attack rolls and AC. Biggest thing again is the increased weapon size... greataxe will go up to 3d6.

Oh, and is anyone else having issues accessing Paizo?

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Right then, here's the new action..
Talacyst curses softly before resorting back to his bow, which has noticeably more ammunition than his rapidly depleting spells.
1d20+4=12, 1d6=1...why am I rolling so badly?

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Am I right in thinking that my Daze was my action for this round?

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Last round:
Talacyst leans around the bulky frame of Etienne in order to line up a shot on the creature. He releases the arrow with a brief prayer.
1d20+4=10, 1d6=6

New round:
Angry at the continued poor results from his archery, the mage deftly makes an arcane sign with his right hand, whispering words of magic as he attempts to incapacitate the beast.

Going for Daze on the creature. DC 13 Will save if it's under 4 HD and a Humanoid or loses a round of actions. If anything it might clue us in as to if this thing is a Magical Beast or a Humanoid or what...

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Just pokin' my head in... already rolled for initiative, see above.

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Talacyst takes a brief moment to adjust to the low lighting before swinging into action.
1d20+3=18 for Initiative. I'm going to delay until Etienne or Blackleaf can get into combat with the creature if I'd end up before them.
And... HELL yes! I was just accepted to my top two colleges. ^_^ Among other things, this means that I can take it easier now and have more time to post. Sorry for neglecting things here during crunch time.

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Talacyst takes a moment to leaf through a few books and to examine the unusual skeletons before the group moves on.

Can I discover anything about what this room was used for from the books or the skellies?

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Talacyst stays close to Vraelyn, who has more than proven herself in the recent battles. He keeps his bow drawn, keeping near the back of the group.

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Talacyst warily eyes the creature, cursing their luck at finding another one of the resilient things. He peers ahead, trying to identify the skeleton-like thing it was carrying...

Spot check. (1d20 3=17)Can I make it out?
Initiative, if you need it. (1d20 3=8)

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Talacyst nods. "You are indeed wise in exploration, Vraelyn. Let us backtrack before spending time here."

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Does it look like we can shift some of the rocks to get through?

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Talacyst straightens from the bodies quickly, shaking his head because he is unwilling to risk opening his mouth.
Doesn't look like there's much more to do here. Where next, folks?

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Phew, finally.
Talacyst takes a moment to catch his breath, leaning against the wall. As the group recovers, he takes the time to get a closer look at the corpses.
Is there anything else I can figure out about these things, and are they carrying anything that would be useful?

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

See the above post, I got eager :)

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Talacyst's eyes narrow in frustration - or was it anger? He is unaccustomed to these strong emotions, and is unable to calm himself enough to aim properly.

Please hit. (1d20 4=12, 1d6=3)... or not.

Sadly you're not large.. lost the spell when the thing shrieked.

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Growing frustrated at the creature's persistence, Talacyst fires once more at the unnatural thing. The enclosed fighting conditions aren't helping him draw a bead, and he fires as best he can, hoping for the best.
Shooting once more. (1d20 4=14, 1d6=1)

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Talacyst makes a foul face at the recent run of bad luck. Offering a silent prayer to Irori as he adjusts for a better position, he asks that he will learn from these mistakes. With that he steels himself and fires another arrow.

Shoots once more. (1d20 4=21, 1d6=5) Finally!

Good God, it's affecting almost every single one of us... let's hope it doesn't last.

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

At least one of us could do something about it. Nice one!

Frustrated after losing control of one of his precious spells, Talacyst decides to avoid risks and instead fires an arrow at one of the creatures (moving as needed to get a clear shot).

Shoots with Shortbow. (1d20 4=8, 1d6=2)...maybe my luck isn't over yet.

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Concentration check (1d20 5=10), Fortitude (1d20=4)
Aw hell. Looks like I just failed both...

The unnatural presence and screams of the creature badly disrupt Talacyst, though he struggles to maintain both his bodily health and his concentration.

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Having seen the initiative chart, I'll cast Enlarge Person on Blackleaf, since he'll then be able to attack in the same round... That should do it for me.

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Talacyst sees the thing dropping out of the shadows, but he too is so startled by its sudden appearance that he hesitates for a crucial moment. Regaining himself, gets ready to help in any way he can.

Initiative. (1d20 3=12)
If Etienne or Blackleaf gets into melee before I act, I'm going to cast Enlarge Person on one of them to give a boost in combat. If I go before them, I'll keep as far away as possible and shoot with the bow. Shoot with shortbow, if I need it. (1d20 4=12, 1d6=5)
Dang, I hope everyone else rolls better than Talam and I did...

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Talacyst takes care to follow the other, more combat-oriented adventurers into the room. He leans against the doorframe just inside the chamber, bow in hands, trying to keep quiet.

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Talacyst looks at the door, then nods to Talam. "This will be your area of expertise, I think."

Talacyst sends out his arcane senses, looking for signs of magic but comes up with an empty feeling from the room.

Talacyst releases his focus, and, steadying himself on the wall, says, "There's no magical traps here, at least. And the statue isn't magical either."

The wizard looks to his party, silently asking which way they should go.

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Talacyst notes the ornate statue, and after considering it for several moments decides to err on the side of caution. He works a simple spell to sense magical activities in the area...

Detect Magic. I'll sweep the entire room, making sure to cover the statue well.

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Talacyst peers into the dark passage ahead of him, saying, "Should we seize the moment and continue this way, then?"

Right then, so should we head for the top or take the long way in? It's worth keeping in mind our supply of spells and such.

Talacyst looks over the body and thinks he has an idea what this thing is but he is not 100% sure. The creature he thinks is call a Sinspawn, a magically created creature....

As the group moves along, Talacyst says softly, "That creature... I believe it was a Sinspawn. I've read that they are created by magical rituals... We should be careful. There might well be more where that one came from."

I doubt it's the same creature, but I'm totally thinking Final Fantasy X right now :)

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

The mage takes a squint at the little body, examining it closely.

Knowledge (arcana) +8, Knowledge (planes) +6, Knowledge (religion) +5... any of that going to help?

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

The mage considers the bizarre creature before him, and decides to wait before casting any spells. He instead looses an arrow at the thing.

Initiative. (1d20 3=14)
Shoot with Shortbow. (1d20 4=21, 1d6=3)

blackleaf of the Mierani forest wrote:
Upon hearing is comrades words blackleaf tosses the torch backward "someone hold this" he says as he switches his ax to a battle stance and makes his way down the tunnel

Somewhat awkwardly, Talacyst returns the bow to his back and lifts the torch.

I'll go ahead and hold it, hopefully won't be needing a weapon.

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Talacyst sees his companions preparing themselves, and he heeds Etienne's words. In one hand he holds his longbow, while the other hand rests lightly on the numerous pouches at his side.

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Talacyst thinks of his own weakened body, and can understand why someone might try to use any means necessary to recover their bodies. He keeps quiet however, seeing how much the topic upset Etienne.

"I'm afraid I don't know anything of these areas... can any of us find the way around the surrounding areas?"

I'm still here and still interested... as I mentioned in the OOC thread my posting might well be irregular for a while.

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Talacyst remains silent for a minute more, his mind racing over these new names and phrases.

I have Knowledge for Arcana, Planes and Religion. Would any of those skills help me out in recalling information about some of these names and such?

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Talacyst seems torn between examining the new letter and Tsuto, but after seeing the man's bloody state (by the way, is Tsuto dead or just unconscious?) he moves to squint at Talam's letter.

I feel like I say this too often, but apologies for disappearing for a week without saying anything. I'm new to the PbP and haven't gotten quite used to keeping my group up to date... Bear with me!

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Straightening, Talacyst says softly, "There's a woman in there, and it sounds like she's struggling against something." He gives Coppertop a sideways glance, wondering what the young man will do.

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Talacyst frowns as he crouches a short ways away from the door, listening intently.

I'm listening to see if I can identify the speaker, the language they're speaking, any phrases... that sort of thing.
Listen check. (1d20 3=4) Doh!

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Talacyst continues his advance, doing his best to get into a position from which he can take a shot.

I'll try to stay at least 10' behind the main combatants. If I get a chance to shoot, Attack with Shortbow (1d20 3=5, 1d6=1)... guess that'll miss.
How many goblins are left in the room where Coppertop and Blackleaf are fighting?

Oh, and this line had me lauging for a good 5 minutes. :)

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Caught up in the moment, Talacyst doesn't notice the conversation behind him. As he descends the stairs behind Blackleaf, he slows somewhat, his poor lungs finally catching up to him.

I'll head something like 3/4 of the way down the stairs this round.

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Talacyst looks between the two doors, seeming somewhat torn as to where he should go. After a short moment, he tightens his grip on his bow and...

If there are still any goblins left, I'll take a shot:Attack and damage. (1d20 3=19, 1d6=4)

Otherwise Talacyst heads towards the top of the stairs to support Coppertop, keeping behind him.

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Talacyst pauses once he's a safe distance away and fires off a quick shot.

Shoot with the longbow. (1d20 3=20)
Damage. (1d6=3)

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Initiative. (1d20 3=6)
Talacyst allows himself a smile as his spell works according to plan. With a jolt, he suddenly realizes that he's at the front of the group, and hastily moves back to a safer distance, readying his longbow as he goes.

Woo hoo! Pulled that one off. Now I just hope I can get away before I get eaten...

Male Elf (Crying Leaf) Transmuter 1

Talacyst nods at Etienne's words. "Quite right - I've got something that might throw off a few of them..."

He takes a few steps towards the door (10 feet away) and, producing a few choice items from his pouches, prepares to send a wash of colorful energy at the first goblin to show it's nasty face.

Preparing Color Spray for the first goblin to go through the door. Since it's a 15' cone, this might mean another goblin right behind the first gets hit. Will DC 14.
