To all those who are complaining about not being able to download their books: I haven't even gotten my code yet, so conder yourself lucky. :P

Speaking of, I'm yet to get any kind of notification about how to claim the books or where to ship my Beginner Box or pay for the BB's shipping. Should I contact Humble Bundle or is that handled on Paizo's end?

When you enter the code on the Paizo website the PDFs will automagically be added to your My Downloads section of the website. If you purchased the physical Beginner Box you will be prompted for shipping and shipping payment information right there on the page.
I haven't gotten the code yet though. I got the two free books without any issue. I'll give it a couple of more days then try to get in touch with Humble Bundle.

Also, if you didn't get the email yet with your codes, try checking your Humble Bundle account. Sometimes the credit you with the codes but their email is sluggish to notify you.

Also, if you do email the HB support, keep note of your case # and if you don't hear from then in a couple of days poke them on Twitter or Facebook with your case #. The last I knew the HB team was something like...7 people, so not a very big team and they can get over whelmed with emails and things slip in cracks.

Update: I have managed to get all the guide books, and the beginers box, and the hells rebels books.

1)Would you be okay with owning "non/generic" watermarked copies that were not legal for official games?

OK, how about:

* Give us the option to download non-watermarked copies now. You can still get watermarked copies if you wish.
* Somehow make sure the downloader understands they are illegal in organized play.
* Remove this option of non-watermarked copies in a few weeks.

That would be something worth considering, no?

Staff have already asked that this subject be dropped. This is not the time, nor place. This is also not the only online store to watermark PDFs.

You're luckier than I am then. I've gotten 2 of them so far, out of dozens. I am not currently using Chrome, but IE, (as firefox worked no better.)

Also, they didn't say not to use Chrome in any place visible to everyone, or on the problems thread the downloads page currently links to.

It's been said a few times in these pages...there's a known issue with Chrome, and it's better to use another browser. I have had the most luck letting a file personalize in chrome, checking on it every minute or so. When I finally get the download page I right click "if download doesn't start click here" and copy page location....then paste that in firefox.

For some reason Chrome wants to time out a lot faster then any other browser, and firefox seems to take forever to time out so the download actually starts. At the same time I can't get anything to finishing personalizing on FireFox, hence the two browser method.

Hey folks, please respect that we're exhausted and each respectively resetting for the week ahead. Sniping at each other and debating our watermarks really doesn't belong in this thread either. Again, we understand how frustrating this is, and the reports about downloads not performing are valid.

If you're new to our community, please take a quick look over our Community Guidelines . Thanks!

I was typing as you posted. I didn't been to step on toes posting about it after you did. I;m done now. YOu guys are doing a great job!

Doesn't really seem to bother any of the thousands of people that play in the events.

If it bothers "you" that much it probably isn't for you.

Read my posts. I explicitly said it was not intended as a criticism. What it shows is that Paizo isn't concerned about creating a level playing field, and, and this bit is important, I don't really think they need to be. What it does, though, is blow the lid off of your excuse.

Honestly, I;ve played in other systems where one person had a book, no one else did, and managed to Munchkin the entire game. I think it does create a level field because not only are you proving you bought the book (Therefore supporting the company) but also proving it is a legit book/supliment, and not a fan created thing or a fake.

No he didn't. Like, he didn't even approach the topic of why that feature is there.

"He" is a "she" and yes I did. The watermarking is to prove you have a legit copy of the books, and not a pirated one, if you want to play in official Pathfinder Society games.

Gaming with your friends? doesn't matter about the watermark.

Happen to be at a convention or event and there's a pathfinder game? You might want to show you have "legal" copies of the books, or you can't play.

I don't think it's so much piracy, since I;m not that techno-fluent and even I know it's easy to remove such a small watermark, plus even I admitted to having a non-legit copy of the books.

I;m sure there's a good chunk of players who just want to game with friends and won't ever need to have a "verified" copy. Hell, I have friends who pooled together to buy the bundle, and planning on sharing the books.

But here's the thing: IF Paizo stopped the watermark temporarily, there would be 30K+ unverifiable legit copies of the books. How would you feel if you bought the bundle, then wanted to join a game only to find out it was a Society game and you had no way to show your PDF was legal and not pirated?

Even if, lets say they gave Humble a set of the books with the generic watermark "Humble Bundle 2016" that humble could give to people who bought the bundle...well, now we have 30K+ generic watermarks, that can easily be copied and pirated, and again, no way to prove it's a "legal" copy for offical games.

This isn't a hard concept. You have a physical book, or you have a PDF with YOUR name on it. Either way you have proof YOU bought the book.

He claimed that there were reasons other than it being an anti-piracy measure. That's what I meant to say you didn't touch on.

Ignoring the fact that you could just start watermarking the copies again for that special...

I did touch on it, MANY times, since I joined this thread back on page 17. The post after yours I didn't, because I was replying to the handful of people before you crying foul.

But, let me understand you. You are saying that, lets say, either Humble distributed copies of the books, or the codes redeemed "non-watermarked" copies of the books here, with the option to watermark later if needed?

If I understood you correctly then let me ask you some questions.
1)Would you be okay with owning "non/generic" watermarked copies that were not legal for official games?
2)Do you really believe the average user would read, comprehend, and acknowledge that if they wanted to play in these games they would need to redownload books they already downloaded?
3)If Paizo distributed the non/generic watermarked copies, don't you think a sudden influx of 30K+ new users would crash the site?
4)If HB distributed non/generic watermarked copies of the books, should users still be given the codes to redeem them on this site?

Honestly, again, not being techno-fluent, that seems like a TON of unnecessary work all around. If I buy something, then get told it's not a "legit" purchase I would get upset.

Then again, this is not the first time the estimated HB sales were only a fraction of the actual sales, and not the first time that issue caused a crash in third party clients. This probably won't be the last time either. You can't blame someone for knowing it's going to rain, preparing for a thunderstorm, and getting Noah's flood.

Although, unlike last time (Which was the Origin bundle), Paizo has went above and beyond what EA did. EA said there was no problem as users spent MONTHS trying to just redeem games. Here? Within a DAY Paizo noted the problem, admitted there was a problem, kept open dialog about what was going on and how they were fixing it. They installed a new server, and I know not to use Chrome. Why? Because the admins and IT people said so.

Guess what? Becuase of that I knew there was an issue and to wait a couple of days. Things looked good today and, waht do you know? Picking on and off all day today I managed to download most the books I want, no problem.

Everyone shouting fraud and threatening to demand refunds. Take a breath, pull up your big kid pants, and relax. Fraud would be NEVER letting you get things you purchased, or bait and switch...neither of which happened! I;m sure the staff right now are sleep derived caffinee fueled zombies trying to fix the fact us from Humble crashed their site.

I had issues, but I read the boards and saw there were tons of issues.

Using chrome? Stop it. No serious, Chrome hates this site.

Have a game you need books for RIGHT NOW? Yes? ...why don't you have them already? no? Then some back next week, or the week after. In the mean time check out the PDR which lists most the rules and gives you a taste of the game. It's right over on the side bar. even says PDR.

Your browser timing out? Copy and paste and use a different browser.

The world has not ended and you have not lost your money! It;s just a case of bad timing between the bundle, the insane influx of people buying the bundle, and scheduled things on Paizo's end.

Isn't this the entire reason Exploding Kittens set up offices in like a dozen countries? Anyone who kickstarted was charged shipping that was from within their own country.

If your download times out, copy the link, and try a differant browser. I;m personalizing in Chrome and downloading in Firefox

Ok, I;m back and this is working for me:

Personalize in Chrome, check every minute or so.
When download page comes up, right click and "copy link address" where is says "click here if it doesn't start in 5 seconds"
Copy in firefox...wait a couple minutes.

So far I have got a few files this way.

Also, I am one of the people who likes to download everything. I;ve been in a few games (in other systems, and before PDF books were big) where one person had a TON of books and managed to munchkin becuase no one else could double check. Changed groups since then, but kept the habit.

So two days ago I managed to get a tiny free PDF to download using chrome. Now, if I click to get something personalized, in less then a minute I can click it and it says "your download will start in 5 seconds"...then chrome times out. C&P to IE and...nada. But if I log into IE and click the same file it starts all over from personalization but now seems to take an insane about more time. (On Chrome I went from Personalizing to wanting to download in about a minute...going on five minutes in IE and still waiting on personalization)

Seems people have had a good try on Edge...but my win10 machine is basically a netbook and doesn't have the storage to try and download these.

When Chrome times out, copy the URL out of the address bar, paste it into IE or Firefox, and go. That's worked for a fair number of people.
In Firefox you can also play with the timeout to make it as long as you want (see my post on previous page). In theory, you should should be able to download anything that's been personalized if you do that and are willing to wait. If it still fails, post details here or PM me.

Huh, for some reason Firefox is not on this computer...and I'm not sure why. When I did C&P to IE I got a connection error, I;m running out the door now, so when I get back I'll either try on my boyfriend's computer (He has Firefox, I;m lazy) or on a win10 machine. I'm more confused as to why one process (Personalization) seems to fly by on Chrome (Beginner's box, ready in a minute) but the same thing on IE (GM kit, since it's smaller) is still not done.

I did that...and I said I did that ("C&P to IE"). Seems people are having good luck with edge, so maybe later today I'll pester someone with a win10 machine with a bigger hard drive then mine to let me attempt to download them.

After reading this thread (Yes all of it!), let me throw in my two cents...as shiny as those pennies are.

1) Everyone comparing this bundle to other book bundles is forgetting how popular this is compared to all the others. Even planning for worst case I;d never plan on 300,000 if my largest estimate was 50,000. But it's cool, becuase it's a freaking PDF and will be there in a week or two (Or a year and a half when I finish school >.<), so I can wait.

2)Everyone comparing this to other HB in general...are you forgetting the first Origin bundle? With few expections everything HAD to be redeemed on Origin, which meant downloading it, redeeming games and...guess what? It crashed, spectacularly! Unless you switched to beta, clicked things in a specific way, hopped on one foot while sacrificing your neighbors yapping poodle it might work, in a week...and if your neighbor didn't have a yapping poodle, you were SOL.

3)Being a new user, and snooping around I EASILY found the PDR and while waiting for the dust to settle (And homeworking...cause school) I have been able to skim over things there and get an understanding of the system.

4)Being an unemployed student, most my gaming PDFs have had me singing "Yar Har and fiddle ti dee"...so I;m sure between various flash drives, hard drives, and link to google drive given by friends I probably have some not very legal copies of Pathfinder (As well as others), so it's nice to own legal copies, even if it takes me a little while to get them.

5)Having been a supporter of HB since day one (and being one of a small group who tried to help

I know! A few books (both physical and PDF) are from a friend wanting to play something and sharing resources. Which, even though it's kinda a grey area, I prefer to my high school days when my friends would pool money, buy a core book to game, and pass it around every couple of days till everyone had a character...which sounds good untill you're the last person and it's covered in spilt soda, and crumbs, and cheeteos finger prints.

If they can't have it five seconds ago before they thought about wanting it then it's broken and stupid and they want a refund. They are quick to use big words like "sue" and talk like they are lawyers when they didn't even take time to read AND comprehend any TOS.

Some of us, this isn't our first rodeo, and we have the logical capacity to figure out this might take awhile. Thankfully you guys are more on the ball about there being a problem, and fixing it then EA was.

Paizo, thank you for this bundle. It is amazing and so are you!
