Human Conjurer Wizard (Teleportation) 5 Leader: Darivan Orlovsky, Familiar
Gwaihir:
Init +3, Per +18
HP 40/40, Init +7, Per +4 (+3 in bright light, +2 with familiar), AC 12/12/10, Fort +3, Ref +4, Will +4; Effects none

Sylvia follows by the prince and princess as they retreat into the kitchen, keeping Gwaihir close at hand as they make their hasty retreat.

Round 4:
Double move as long and as far as needed to keep pace with the royals. I don't think I need to make any checks, as I'm part of one of the larger groups, but I'll roll if needed.

Seeing the prince and princess funneling out of the great hall, Sylvia follows, climbing over a table as she whistles for Gwaihir to join her, taking up position next to Winnie, facing the Devourers as they pour into the room.

Round 3:
Double moving 50 feet (including one square of difficult terrain) from R17 to X22

Sylvia, seeing the stone wall rise out of the ground, narrows her eyes. She notices a few stones out of place, and the 'reality' of the illusion kicked into place. Seeing the devourers behind the illusionary wall, she quickly makes a flicking motion with her wrist as she calls out, "Sidus!" and a cloud of glittering golden dust motes engulfs the oncoming horrors.

The devourers won't be mist:

Will Save (disbelief): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Casting Glitterdust (DC 18) as indicated on the map.

Finally yanking her component pouch free, Sylvia suddenly vanishes, reappearing almost instantaneously on top of the table. Seeing what's in the other room, she panics for a moment, then closes her eyes for a moment in concentration, then starts running down the table towards the princess. Before she enters the fog cloud, she turns back, makes eye contact with Darivan, and quickly communicates, her panic showing through the motions.

Not good… Lots of enemies, lots of dying. Dozens of devourers, too. Protect the king, we'll get the prince and princess to safety! It's lost here, just get away!

There's some group that's performing a summoning, apparently. Someone here cast a divination to peek over. Stay safe.

She sees Darivan nod, and turns back to the princess' mist.

I wish I had a scroll of teleport about now…:
(I nearly bought one as part of Darivan's starting gear.)
Swift action to Dimensional Shift (8 uses left) to the top of the table, standard action held off for now.
Finally, move action to run along the table towards the obscuring mist.
Out of curiosity, is there anyone in the room that might be considered a "non-combatant?" My story feat gives me a +1 to hit and skill checks if there are.
Also, I'm assuming Sylvia can see at the very least there's a ton of enemies out there.

Out of curiosity, what would happen if a cohort went with the leaders? This is apparently when we get mythic, so would the cohort also gain that power?

Sylvia reacts faster than Darivan, and swiftly, grabbing a dinner knife, severs the cord connecting her to Gwaihir, currently resting on her shoulder. As soon as the cord is cut, she drops the small blade and withdraws a feather from within her robe.

She brandishes the wing feather, sweeping it like a conductor's baton, swish and flick. It glows brightly for a moment, and with a command of "Volante!", the light leaves, trailing down her arms, where a pair of glowing wings momentarily appeared, before dissolving into motes of glowing dust.

Sylvia then passes her focus to her familiar, who takes it in his beak and starts flying towards Darivan.

As the doors fly inward and Darvan successfully recalls what the threat is, the blue-haired girl calls out, "Devourers! Whatever you do, DON'T DIE!" rises into the air, coming to a stop quite a ways above the ground. She takes a deep breath, closing her eyes and visualizing the earth. Its power and might, rocks pounding down mountainsides, and Sylvia opens her eyes, a torrent of rocks and stone materializing in the air and pouring down over the incoming tide of enemies, covering the ground in earthen debris.

At the same time, Gwaihir reaches Darivan and gives him the feather.

Something Wicked This Way Comes:

So, you didn't say what kind of action it would be to cut the cord connecting Sylvia and Gwaihir, but, given it's a move action with a dinner knife for the haversack, that seemed reasonable.
If you doubt that Sylvia would reasonably have a 'wing feather,' the component for fly on her, I direct you to this post. I did say I had been thinking for a long time about spell components. If that doesn't satisfy, Sylvia would have instead simply pulled a small down feather from her familiar's wing right now.
Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15 (to ID the devourers)

Anyway, round actions:
Pre-round:
Move action to cut the tether, standard action to cast fly. Free action to talk, 5-foot step to stand up.
Gwaihir does a double move towards Darivan.

Round 1:
Move action to ascend 30' into the air, standard action to cast stone call, centered around the devourers.
Stone Call: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 4) = 9 to all the enemies there, and difficult terrain for the next 5 rounds. No spell resistance, no saving throw.
Gwaihir does

Darivan's actions will be posted a bit later, I went with Sylvia first because A: Darivan's actions are way more complex and I'll need more time to write them up, and B: Sylvia has a higher Initiative modifier.

After Darivan speaks, Sylvia is quiet for a while, seeming to be thinking deeply on a topic, not so much listening to the others, "Something we could do for prisoners, assuming we have a strong enough priest, is give them a conditional curse of some sort. Something that would trigger if they broke any regulations or rules, and leave them disabled if they tried to run away."

We better leave:

As you may have noticed, Sylvia thinks more on the magical side, whereas Darivan is the spokesperson for more mundane issues. She's currently advocating for marks of justice on captured bandits, which isn't doable at the moment, as it's a 5th-level spell. However, she doesn't know how powerful some of the other spellcasters are that are coming along, and she only has a rough idea of spell levels, in any case.

Something to keep in mind for in a few levels, at least. Might make a good rehab program.

I like the idea of using downtime. It gives us something productive to do for those of us who don't want to invest all of our time into making magical items.

Sylvia, speaks up shortly after Darivan finishes,
"With all due respect, my lord, how much will it cost, to run an entire caravan through the snows of Cocytus-bound Calistril? It must be a small fortune. Might it not be cheaper to simply pay for a skilled spellcaster to spend a day or two mass-teleporting many of us to our destination?

"A powerful enough one might be able to get any amount of people through in a matter of hours, rerouting us through a demiplane. Granted, it would cost a small fortune, though still affordable for a new kingdom, and it would be a nightmare finding such a powerful wizard… but the Technic League would have at least a few capable of such legendary magic, and that's not counting the possibilities of sending a message to an arcane school in Absalom, or even Nex.

"What might take us months would instead take hours, and we need not fear banditry, foul weather, or sabotage. I suppose a high priest might also be capable of the epic spell-power required, and the church of Abadar might prove sympathetic to our cause."

She gives a brief smirk, and Darivan's face plummets,
"Unless of course, you want us to slog through the snow for weeks on end? Great way to build loyalty for your new subjects."

(To the side, Darivan breathes a sigh of relief. Sylvia ignores him.)

We're off to see the wizard…:

Basically, Sylvia is suggesting they hire a wizard (though a cleric would also work) to cast greater create demiplane a couple times, opening up a pair of permanent gates from Restov to the middle of the Stolen Lands. Granted, it would cost a pretty penny, but going off of the spellcasting costs in the CRB and assuming a 17th-level caster, it would be about 1,530 gp three times (once to create it, twice more for the gates), plus 50 for the 500 gp forked rod focus, for a total of 4,640 gp or 4,740. A cleric of Abadar might grant a sizeable discount, as well, given the goal of the expedition (to bring order to a lawless land and spread civilization) Another solution would be casting teleportation circle. It would cost 2,530 with the material cost, but wouldn't be able to transport the caravans (assuming 20 feet wide at the most, when they could fit in through a gate, but not through the 5-foot radius teleportation circle. Even a simple gate, cast twice (once to get people to a friendly plane, such as Axis, once to get them back to Golarion). Granted, it would only be open for 17 rounds at most, but with a 20-foot wide entrance, a lot of people could make it through. A summoner could also manage it.

I realize this kind of defeats the spirit of the journey, but… It's a realistic question. It would cost 4,000 gp, or 1-2 BP. That's less than the cost to build a house. Considering the benefits, it's almost cheap.

Sylvia manages to avoid making a comment about how much she dislikes obligations from positions, but steps forward as the king discusses the duel.
"I have a friend, Darivan Orlovsky, who might be able to help. He was trained in dueling by Sir Aethelred Waincroft, and- while it's never come up before- I'm sure he would know the proper procedures for overseeing a duel. He would also be impartial in his judgment. I can get him, if you like."

OOC:

Same reason I constantly mention Darivan's arm. It's one of the first things people notice about him, but it's really easy to miss or forget about in PBP.

::The Royals::

Sylvia, quickly taking in the reactions of those around her as the king approaches, drops into a quick half-bow, but quickly straightens up again afterwards.
In response to Sarra's and the king's comments on Sarra's abilities, "Oh, I don't doubt that she will be invaluable in the coming days, but will she be safe in the meantime? The few times Darivan and I have ventured any meaningful distance into the Stolen Lands, we've seen all manner of dangerous beasts and bandits. If you're interested, I could attempt to teach the princess a few minor spells as we travel that will be very helpful in the days to come."
As she talks, Sylvia absently scratches the back of Gwaihir's head, with the bird obviously enjoying it, "She's clearly smart enough to grasp the fundamentals of wizardry. I would be honored to teach her what I know."

::Lyda/Amavin::

"It would seem so. Not entirely sure how, though." Sylvia furrows her brow in puzzlement, "But I suppose that's not terribly important. I'm a wizard, I specialize in teleportation, am working on wind magic, and love a challenge. Attention is always fun, as well, I suppose." Her focus seems to drift for a second, but she snaps back into reality as soon as somebody says something to her.

Where there's a Will...:

I love that series. I actually drew on it a bit while making my characters, though how exactly may not be fully realized for a while. I will say, however, I did draw on Horace when making Darivan (though he's already passed his initial character growth period).

∷Lyda/Amavin/Alysandra∷

Sylvia gives the excited girl her biggest smile of the evening.
Looking at her familiar, Sylvia says something incomprehensible to the bird, who seems to be pouting. The falcon then does an awkward hop the few inches from his shoulder perch onto Sylvia's hand.
"Would you like to pet him? He doesn't bite." Sylvia says the last statement pointedly, and as much to Gwaihir as the princess, [b]"But yes, we're going on the Expedition. Should be an adventure. We're with the Auram Chain, though I didn't realize that you'd be coming along. Are you looking forward to adventuring through the wilderness? Do you have any skill with spell or blade?" Sylvia looks as though she wants to keep asking questions, but cuts herself off suddenly, turning to Zámoždom and Alysandra, and nodding at each of them in turn, "Pleasure to meet you both" She doesn't extend her hand in greeting, but this seems to be more that she's forgotten her courtesies rather than being intentionally rude, then turns to the newcomer (Amavin), "And you are? I'm- wait. You already know me? Huh. Okay. This is Lyda, and what's wrong with casters?"

Oh! Shiny!:

Spoken to Gwaihir:
"Oh, shush. Look, if you want, I can let you out in the snow. But while we're inside, it's good to introduce yourself to your future ruler and get on their good side. Besides, what's gotten into you? You love showing off. Come on, be friendly."

Yeah... My bad. It completely slipped my mind to list her falconry glove in what she had with her, but it would make sense she would keep a spare on her. These are the dangers of playing a character with higher mental scores than yourself, I suppose. Sorry again. I suppose it would be kept on a her belt, worn under her outer robes (Basically, she has her silk robes worn over a wool tunic and breeches, and a belt, which is where she was keeping her spell pouch before it was given as her primary weapon, and where her glove would have been. There would also be a couple of thin slits on the sides, just above her waist, that allow her to actually reach her belt without too much hassle (basically pockets that open to her belt).

Also, did you mean to have Sarra forget to introduce her bodyguard, or was that just a GM-NPC disconnect? There is something to be learned about a person based off of how they treat their lessers.

As Sylvia makes her way through the crowd, Gwaihir nudges her, prompting her to look around. She sees something that catches her eye.
"Oh, Princess Sara!" She quickly turns aside, changing direction in the blink of an eye, heading towards the princess.
Unless she is bodily and physically stopped, she extends a hand of greeting to the young girl, "Excellent to meet you. I'm Sylvia. Are you enjoying The Party?" The bird on her shoulder squawked, and Sylvia grins, ruffling the feathers on the falcon's head, "And this is Gwaihir. He's happy to meet you as well."
If Sara seems interested in Gwaihir, Sylvia lets her familiar hop onto her hand (after putting a leather glove on), and holds him out to the princess.

Thoughts of a blue-haired girl:

If anything, Gwaihir, rather than Sylvia, would be the one to recognize the potential implications of the princess in the middle of the crowd, (6 more points of wisdom, after all), but the nice thing about an 8 Wis character is that they can be distracted by any-oh look, shiny!
Still, she does sometime pretend to be more airheaded than she actually is. It never hurts to have your enemies underestimate you. Besides, it gives her almost as much attention as showing off her intelligence.

Also, is there any more information on the group? Does Sara look nervous? The Aldori look intimidating? What kind of sword does the bodyguard have? Does Sylvia recognize any of the Aldori or the cleric? Are they mixed in with other people, or is the crowd staying away from them? Should Sara even be in the crowd, or should she be at the 'head table'?

Psst. Remember the spoilers. You don't want to have the Wyrm angry at you.

Also, thanks! It's kind of tricky.
To be honest, the only reason Sylvia didn't try touching Lyda's horns or tail was because I didn't think of it. I suppose she didn't either.

"A sword? Maybe not. But maybe a spell, or a scroll of some sort. The fact is, they don't really know, nor do they care. All they know is that books can be so, so dangerous. They took away basically everything I tried to bring in- even my healing potions. Fortunately-" She's interrupted by a loud cheer coming from the back of the room, "What is that, anyway? "Other than all the soldiers ready to spear us? That would be the most compelling reason for me. Other than that, well, we did have to give up practically everything at the door that might be usable as a weapon, or could be considered dangerous. They haven't searched our possessions, so far as I know, so they have no idea if you have a sword in there, or what you're trying to get. If you really need your notebook, as the head of security to retrieve it- also, could we move? I'm not terribly comfortable with all these pointy things aimed at me. Thanks- or just wait a couple of hours until after the oath-taking. Why do you need it right now so much?"
Sylvia says calmly, though there is a bit of nervousness in her voice that can't be hidden.

Taking a deep breath, she puts a hand on Lyda's shoulder to get her attention, "I don't think this is the wisest idea at the moment. What do you need from your gear? I might be able to help you somehow. I'm Sylvia, by the way. What's your name?"

"Oh, shush. Just be glad they let you in at all. If you really hate it, I'll go out on a balcony or something and let you fly off into the cold, snowy winterland out there. Of course, in here, there's all kinds of tasty meat for you to have." Sylvia tells Gwaihir. She steps into the hall, away from the wall that she had been standing by, watching the influx of notable adventurers from across Brevoy.
Sylvia is wearing robes fit for an Archmage, which reach almost to her feet and have long, trailing sleeves that nearly hide her hands, and is a dark blue-gray in color, with silver trimming.
Around her neck, she's wearing a necklace, the center piece being an icon of swirling winds. Around it are several beads that appear to be various jewels at first glance, but are merely glass upon inspection.
While the outfit has a hood, it is currently thrown back, as per custom, to reveal her hair, which is silver with blue stripes (the exact same color as most of the guards are wearing, having adjusted the color since arriving).
Underneath her flowing robes, she has on a simple gray woolen underclothing, warm but allowing for good mobility. Occasionally, a glimpse of them might be caught as she walks and her robes flow and flutter.
An irate peregrine falcon perches on her shoulder, with a leather cord attaching the bird to her left hand, which she currently has held against her chest, to compensate for the short tether.

OOC:

Sylvia currently has mage armor active, which she cast right before The Party started, while she still had her component pouch with her.

Also, does Gwaihir get a perception check? If so,

As the sun begins to set and the air chills to a frigid temperature, Sylvia casts a quick spell on each of them, and they warm appreciably. After dinner, they separate. Sylvia also mutters a quick incantation, coating her entire body with an invisible layer of force, giving her added protection should anyone be unfortunate enough to try and attack her. She calls Gwaihir, as well, and the falcon rests on her shoulder as they do a little bit of last-minute shopping. She had recently misplaced her miniature shovel, so she stopped by a magic shop to pick up a replacement one. She also stopped by a butcher, and paid a few coppers for some scraps for Gwaihir. Before she met with Darivan, she recolored her hair to be pure white, a new color for her.

Block 2:

So, Sylvia casts endure elements and mage armor on herself, giving her added protection as she does her shopping. She picks up a miniature shovel, the focus for create pit, for 10 gp, and gives Gwaihir a snack for a few coppers (How much would it really cost to grab some discarded scraps from a butcher shop at the end of the day, really?). Afterwards, she uses prestidigitation to recolor her hair from the vivid green it had been that day, and meets with Darivan in Red Table Square.
