Totally agree that it would be limited in the playtest. Mechanically, it's trying to be analogous to Summon Animal so I would think in the full release where there might be a large number of robots per level then it would be possible to limit it to robot traits.

The spell is called Summon Robot but doesn't require the creature you summon to have the Robot trait, only the Tech trait. This opens it up to a wide variety of creatures that seem to be unintentional, such as certain gremlins and zombies. This wasn't errataed AFAICT so I'm not sure if it's intentional or something that was missed.
