@ Vegoia
Spoiler:
Your contract doesn't specify how you get the job done, only the when, where and amount involved. You do think you could hire additional labor (This might also take a few hours to gather the help). which would cut into your profits... but it might be cheaper to find another hovercart... Perhaps Prat has one you could rent or borrow. NOTE: Travel time to anywhere from within the system is 1d6+2 days
God Infinity........
N'than is struggling a bit with overcoming the firewall breathes a sigh of relief as Runo runs his thumb across the access pad and the datapad beeps three times then the infamous... Enter a new password Script appears. "Ah... Many thanks. here is the 40 credits I owe for your service". he pulls out a credstick and transfers the money from his datapad to your company. He then asks for your papers and scans in the cargo manifest. "Please be careful. This shipment is my retirement fund". He then turns to the delivery crew. "Captain Reisora is it? Keep your eye out on the way to Ship's End. I've heard people talk of goblins out there, but I didn't think much of it. If the tech is right and they're the ones who hacked my files as well...I don't know what they're up to, but it's criminal, that's for sure. I'll need you to come by and sign when you're all loaded up and sign over possesion of the berries to your care. ". He takes them out back to the warehouse and points out the cargo. There are 50-tons of Yaro berries packed into 50-lb crates. Loading by hand would take 16 hours of labor per hovercart. If you can think of other ways to reduce this time for loading, we can adjust that. "Let me know when your loaded up and I'll come and see you off".
God Infinity........
You are in the system now... but you notice that whoever hacked it installed a Firewall that prevents the password from being reset. The firewall seems to utilize classic space goblin coding techniques. Getting past the firewall also requires a Computers check and the thumb print can apply to this as well. "Hey! That's further than I was able to get. I still don't seem to be able to log on however".

Calistril 17th 320 - Day 1 @ Nathan
Spoiler:
Runo’s datapad (Starfinder Armory 100) is a tier 1 computer with a lockout countermeasure, secured with a thumbprint and password The energetic new arrival brushes past everyone with abandon... but it seems that his quick fix wasn't really so quick, as the warning device is locked out flashes red with a warning buzzer. It will take a Computer Check with a bonus available from Runo's thumbprint and a hackers toolkit... as it's obvious to both you and any others trained in computers that someone has hacked this datapad. An Engineering check to open the back of the datapad and try to do thing this way would also work... but the DC is higher and there is no bonus from the thumb scanning. Runo Speaks "It was working fine yesterday and seems to almost never malfunction. I did have it on the infoweb most of the day yesterday sending out some overdue collection scripts".
God Infinity........
"Ah yes. You've come for the Yaro Berries". He holds out his hand. "I'm Runo Prat". He then picks up the roughly discarded datapad and attempts to first scan his thumb across the pad... then with a growl picks up a scrap of paper from his desktop and tries to enter some digits into the datapad. "Dang nothing is ever easy. This stupid device was working fine yesterday and now I seem to be locked out. Neither my thumb print nor my password bypass seems to work... and now I'm locked out for 24 hours. We could log the shipment manually... but that would take most of the day. I've reached out to a local computer company and they're supposed to be sending someone out... but you know how reliable they can be". He then stands up and looks over Vegoia's shoulder at the others. "And it would be today of course. This is my last shipment before I turn the reigns of the company over to Needa... and of course I don't collect my credits till the deal is finished... EJ Company policy you know". "I guess I could show you the back door and you can start loading up... but I'm not supposed to let anything go until it's signed off with this dumb program". About that time the bell over the door opens and another individual enters the shop.

The check-out supervisor, Needa Prat(female Korasha Lashunta), she points the PCs to the general manager’s office in the rear of the building. An older, stocky Lashunta wearing blue coveralls sits behind a wooden desk covered in papers. He taps furiously on a datapad while grumbling to himself. His most notable apparent injuries or prosthetics feature is a missing left antenna and a thin scar that begins at his forehead and zigzags back along his scalp. He looks up, tosses the tablet aside, and asks in a polite but agitated voice, "What can I do for you?” See Image of Runo Prat in Discord Group.
God Infinity........
The captain accepts the gift with a smile and a nod of gratitude. "I know we've not ventured together as a group for long, but you've been as good a group as any... and provided the best grub I've ever ventured forth with. Good Luck travelling the Drift". The group then begins to discuss who might be the next captain as they prepare the Cargo Rig, and Hovercraft for the journey to Prats Produce. Makaleku jumps into the drivers seat. The cargo rig normally seats (4) but you can squeeze in all five of you or one can ride the Hovercraft if you deploy it now instead of when you load up the berries. Finally, the group is ready to head for the shop knowing that wasting time only cuts into the time they have to complete the delivery... before the fruit spoils. The inside of the grocery exudes a cleanliness that is minimalistic, but not sterile. Rows of shelves and friendly aisle displays present a wide variety of well-organized foodstuffs for purchase. Dozens of people—mostly lashuntas—go about their daily errands, selecting food and making (sometimes telepathic) conversation. Small, bright screens scattered

Makaleku doesn't even acknowledge the rain and poor visibility as he comes in extra hot. The crew braces themselves for the inevitable impact, and the few people huddled from the raiin and wind on the ground run for cover as the ship screams in... The stops and settles on the ground centered perfectly in the designated landing area as gentle as a feather falling. Some individuals on the ground stop and applaud. I guess I gotta give you the games first Hero point for that. As the landing permits are filed the crew is informed that Prat's Produce can be found a few miles from the starport on Sprik Street. Fortunately, the BD514 contains a vehicle called a Cargo Rig with a Hover trailer to make moving the 50-tons of fruit easier... and most importantly quicker.

Just to clarify... If you're in a combat situation you can take on other stations at will. If you're normally the Science officer, you can take on the role of Gunner for example... you just can't do Science Officer stuff simultaneously. The Core 2 book has a simplistic Starship combat system which we might get the chance to try out. If it plays well, I'd just as soon stick with that... especially for a PbP game.

Gameplay is underway!!! I'm not the most consistent weekend poster but will try to keep up. Just keep in mind if you don't see instant responses. Recent retiree, so I'm sure I'll find more time in the future. The adventure assumes you know each other and are most likely on your first mission together as a group. Your current captain is retiring to a life on Castrovel, so a new captain will need to be chosen before adventuring onward. Feel free to take the weekend to establish a rhythm for the crew, and I'll pitch in as I can. I've put some information in the Discord group and will continue to add as I come across information. Hopefully we'll e able to transition much of this to DemiPlane as it adds capabilities. Feel free to reach out with any questions or if you wish to discuss things. It would be nice to establish what your default Exploration activities are and any notes as to when they would change. I can't edit your characters so any equipment or changes will have to be done by you guys. Not sure if you can set your characters to allow the GM to edit or not. Happy Gaming!!!

It's now time to pick your captain and begin our journey. Rain pours down on the small freighter, BD514, over dark ocean toward the city of Qabarat, which grows rapidly on the horizon. Though known as the Jewel of the Western Sea, little of the city sparkles in this weather. Qabarat lines the mouth of the Yaro River, which stretches past the city, into the foothills of the Stormshield Mountains beyond. Navigation beacons and the city’s traffic control AI direct BD514 to a landing pad at Ship’s End, the city’s bustling starport. Whomever is piloting the ship will need to make a piloting check to land due to the harsh weather and poor visibility.
God Infinity........
The adventure begins on the lush world of Castrovel, where the PCs must pick up a shipment of Yaro berries, a tangy fruit that grows only on the banks of the Yaro River. This seasonal, sizable purple berry is relatively commonplace in the markets of Qabarat, but it’s considered a delicacy on other worlds. Tarika asks the PCs to pick up 50 tons of Yaro berries from a local establishment called Prat’s Produce and transport them to Hivemarket on Akiton—where such a delicacy can go for 10 credits a bowl. The PCs must deliver the fruit before it spoils, in 6 days. If the PCs manage to shave a day or two off the trip, Tarika assures them that they’ll likely earn a bonus. From Tarika’s perspective, this should be a routine job.

Hi Evindyl, Looks like we've lost one. If you'd like to review the recruitment and discussion threads and let me know if you'd like to take part... feel free. I'm starting things up tomorrow... but things won't progress much till next week.
for those of you using DemiPlane Campaign. There are tags on your character profile that can be filled out for additional information. "Feats and Features", "Details", "Notes". Perhaps you could copy/paste your character background in the Notes field for easy access. I'm very familiar with the mechanics but haven't run Starfinder before so I'll have to spend some time figuring out how to tie your characters to the setting information. Still should be ready to kick-off by the end of this week. I'll post any questions or issues in Discord so as not to clutter up this thread.

Hi all. I appreciate all the hard work and buy in from everyone. I'll take the next few days to review the characters for any issues and also get to know them a little better. If you'd like your characters to have any of their pasts intertwined feel free to do so at this time. I should have everything ready to go by Thursday or Friday of this week and will start sharing some images and maps.

So, let's try to get all the characters finished by Friday of this week. (2/6). Go ahead and make Aliases if you haven't already. Perhaps we could discuss character connections, and a little background on why you've ended up together... if you have previous interaction with any other members of the crew. Starbuilder would be a great help, and let me check validity without having to input them myself Please pick one of the Players Guide backgrounds if you have not already done so. I see...
First (6) with a completed Alias are in for sure. Others will be alternates if we drop too low. Am I missing anyone? Please pick and send me an avatar image so I can create a token for you. You can email me at: Spoiler: or I'll create a discord group a little later today that you can drop the images in. sdcranford@outlook.com

Just posted a link to Starbuilder 2d character generator. There is a free version... but I recommend upgrading to the paid version. It's only like a one-time fee of $5.00 or so, and well worth it for both Pathfinder and Starfinder. Later today I'll post a link to Owl Bear Rodeo room for you guys to play around in. When I get your character portraits I'll make tokens and put them there as well.

A couple of notes about how I run things in PbP for Pathfinder 2e... 1. Since Surprise rounds are almost unheard of in PF2e you will not be allowed to have your weapon out before combat for free. I've lost multiple players over this, but I enforce it because none of the adversaries have their weapons out either, and I don't want to change all their actions before combat. I've loosened up a bit on taking potions etc before entering an encounter... but the no weapons ready is set in stone. If you want to have a weapon out without spending an action, take "Quick Draw". 2. I'm a big fan of "Secret checks" but it slows things down tremendously in PbP so I'm okay for everyone to roll all their checks. If this becomes a metagaming problem. (Oh! he rolled a one so I'm going to check for traps as well), then we'll address it at the time. Exploration actions should take care of who rolls when, so be sure to tell me if you've changed up your exploration activity during play. 3. I'll roll initiative for everyone to speed things up. 4. I reward Hero Points more often for playing your characters quirks and personality than anything so fire up those cool out of encounter mode ideas. 5. I struggle a bit with social encounters because by rule most of these take 10-minutes. There are feats to reduce that time, so I don't want to handicap those willing to spend a feat to allow quick interjection... so we'll work together to RP these. In the past I've just rolled initiative for both social and combat encounters to allow those who'd like to try to talk their way out of situations a chance to do so before the bullets start flying. 6. For those of you unfamiliar with Owl Bear Rodeo, it's a simple VTT that you don't have to purchase to use. I will send a link to the campaign when ready and as long as you don't use a different device or clear your cookies it will remember where you are when you go back. Please find an image you'd like to use for your token, and I'll make the tokens and add them to OBR. In the past I made a Discord group for out of character sharing of stuff. Let me know if this would make things easier and I can do the same here. I can also share my DemiPlane subscription with those interested, but I'd like to wait a couple of sessions to make sure we're continuing as these shares are a limited resource. I'll add more as I think of them, then summarize these in the Campaign thread.

thanks for helping organize all this! I'm much better at running the game than recruiting.. :-)
Everybody is in as long as we fill all the roles. This is that whole cart before the horse thing. Nobody wants to make a character if they're not in the game and I don't want to put anyone into the game without a fitting character. :-). Let's come up with rough concepts and roles then I'll approve as desired... then we can finalize the details of the group. When you present your character fill in both primary and secondary roles, they will be suitable for. 1. Pilot
We can elect a captain after the group is together.
Marcellus Magravi wrote:
I think it's safe to say your character is in. Kind of gaging actual activity from those interested as that's a good indicator of participation. Don't need completed characters yet, just discussion on what they will bring to the game. You've demonstrated this interest.
Discussion Thread is open. I'd like to take the time to finalize the characters and perhaps have some quick vignettes concerning each before jumping into the campaign with both feet. I like to read the whole campaign before running so that might take a couple more weeks, but no hurry as I want players that are invested and that work well together and I find that HAST = WASTE. I'll post a few more guidelines later today. I don't usually have too many requirements as long as the source material is easily available, and reliable. In this case however as much happens on board a ship it's important to fill the ship rolls listed above.

WHO YOU ARE We hired you because you fit our needs. Your assignment should suit yours. All we require is that you understand your role and seek to fulfill it. In doing so, apply your expertise, work hard, use good judgment, support your team, and cling to integrity. Expect as much from yourself as you do from others... DATABASE CORRUPTION... All right, let’s cut the crap. To the Company, you’re just an employee number. The Company doesn’t care about your skill, industriousness, or honesty. The Company cares about three things, and that’s money, money, and more money. Remember that. Keep being a good little source of profit and you’ll be fine. But if you cause trouble or stop being useful, you’ll be ejected like yesterday’s garbage.

Discussion thread to set up our Starship crew for this campaign. STARSHIP ROLES You’re going to be working with your fellow crew members on a Company freighter, so you need to consider your starship role. Most themes detailed in this article suggest possible starship roles. Those that don’t might lend themselves to a character who can fill any role, depending on class and skills. At the very least, your group needs an engineer, a gunner, a pilot, and a science officer. Look for opportunities to build your characters to fill other roles, too, including chief mate and magic officer
