Hello everyone! I'm making a deity for a campaign I'm running, and I'm having an extremely hard time with doing it. I figured I would seek out help here, since I'm at a loss of what else to do or even where to start. So, to give you all an idea of what I'm trying to create, here's a brief description of what the deity is. His name is "Graves" and he is known as "The Legendary Amarok." Amaroks are creatures that have souls that are too large to inhabit a single body. So they often have dozens, hundreds, or even millions of other bodies that collectively house their soul. Graves is an Amarok who became a deity, as the backstory of my campaign. He's a collective of wolves and dire wolves, and I'm seeking to make him a CR 50 creature with the Mythic and Swarm subtype. However, Swarms are only for Tiny or smaller creatures, so I'm at a loss for how to do this. Also, I have no clue how to make a deity. I used to play 3.5 Dungeons and Dragons and it seems the entire process of making a deity is different. Any help would be amazing! Thanks!
Hello! I've been spending some time putting a few races together for a more high powered campaign. This is one of my finished products! Please let me know what you think of the race's design, both in them and game mechanics. Thanks! ^-^ Nightstalker Elves A rare sight in the material plane of mortals, nightstalker elves are mortal beings with a strong tie to the plane of shadows. While far from dark or evil in nature, nightstalker elves are often misunderstood by the other civilized races around them. Many confuse nightstalker elves for a sub-race of drow and as such, nightstalker elves often avoid coming into contact with non-elves when at all possible. They construct vast treetop cities in the densest and darkest forests across the globe and will spend their time honing their hunting skills and magical talents. Nightstalker elves have a natural affinity for arcane magic of the shadow school. This natural connection nightstalker elves have to the plane of shadow has lead them to try to understand the workings of all arcane magic. In pursuit of obtaining this understanding, many of the treetop villages constructed by the nightstalker elf people contain colleges dedicated to the magic arts and the magical study of all things arcane in nature. In addition to these grand colleges dedicated to understanding the weave, every nightstalker village also has a grand hall dedicated to hunting. Perhaps their most favored tradition, nightstalker elves enjoy hunting the fierce creatures of the dark woods they call home. Nightstalker elves often go off in small hunting parties riding on the back of large spiders during their hunt. To keep their large unnatural mounts housed, fed, and protected every treetop village with a hunting lodge is constructed over a spider’s nest with an odd under-village stable built to house the domesticated vermin. Their odd choice of mounts and pets coupled with their darker appearance doesn’t do the nightstalker elves any justice for gaining favor of the other civilized races of the world. Though not at all like their spiteful backstabbing cousins, the drow, nightstalker elves uphold themselves to a strict code of law, morals, and ethics that many find hard to believe until meeting face to face with nightstalker elf society themselves. Physical Description Nightstalker elves look incredibly similar to a cross between their drow cousins and common undead, though in actuality they are not like either. They stand at about the same height as a human, and have light gray colored skin. Their eyes are a dull steel gray with their hair being a slightly lighter gray itself. Their entire body seems to be completely devoid of color in every way, everything from skin, eyes, hair, nails, and teeth being a shade of gray or black. They are extremely slender and curvy, even the males possessing a very feminine quality to their shape and overall appearance. When fully clothed it is common for outside races to mistake a nightstalker elven male for a female. Nightstalker elves are surprisingly lightweight for their size and due to their connection to the plane of the shadows they live extremely long lifetimes. Society: Living together for the pursuit of knowledge and understanding is the most accurate and truthful way to describe a treetop village of nightstalker elves. Though most outsiders would not naturally come to this conclusion without actually living amongst the elves themselves. Nightstalker elf society doesn’t place a burden on rank or social standing. Their people merely are who they are and they each do what they can to help the others in their society live on in peace. Relations: While not intending avoid anyone or anything, nightstalker elves make no great effort as a society to become involved in global events or politics. As a species, nightstalker elves find other races fascinating and spend hours observing those who wander into their lands our a genuine desire to learn more about them. However, many nightstalker elves do not concern themselves with leaving their homeland to pursue the ideals and cultural heritage of other creatures. They consider themselves far too busy with honing the art of stealth and hunting and learning the mysteries of the weave to find time to venture out into the vast world outside of their dark forests. Alignment and Religion: Nightstalker elves often do not waste time dealing with law or chaos. Their people live peacefully together out of a mutual understanding of everyone’s part to play in their treetop community and a net of safety cast over them by the dark forests they reside in. Many outside influences and races do not reach nightstalker society as many living creatures and races fear to venture so deep into the dark forests across the globe. This has allowed for nightstalker elves to live peacefully in a world where the threat of outsiders invading them is not present. Religiously speaking, nightstalker elves revere the god Deneir, who they have christened “Lord of Shadows.” Many others know Deneir to actually be “Lord of Knowledge.” The title given to him by the nightstalker elf community is actually a clever allegory using the word “shadows” as a substitute for “secrets.” This, nightstalker elves will claim, is referring to the knowledge Deneir keeps protected that is still out there to be learned and discovered. Adventurers: Finding a nightstalker elf adventurer is not too terrible hard if you look in the dark forests and caves dotting the globe. However, finding one who has dared to adventure out into the common world is a rarer sight. Despite their general disinterest in the outside world as a race, there are a few nightstalker elves who take it upon themselves to seek out knowledge in the world to collect and bring back to their treetop village. Though many who set out on these adventuring journeys never return, there are always those who will try to brave the sunlit world in the name of greater understanding. Greetings all. Was just wondering if there was a general rule of thumb for converting and figuring a gold piece cost for purchasing exotic mounts that can be combat trained. In this particular campaign, the players are dealing with Nordic creatures and tribes. So we're trying to calculate cost for a dire-wolf made into a mount. We're also advancing the creature slightly to make it more suitable as a combat mount for the important Norsemen NPCs and higher level player characters. But trying to figure this out, it made me wonder. I see costs all the time for finding creatures in markets and then additional gold costs for having it be trained. How are these calculations figured? And if there isn't a regular means to calculate it, where can I get started for figuring one? Just so everyone knows, I'm aware that dire wolves and other dire animals are listed as being too wild to truly domesticate. And that dire wolves can be bought just a static as is animal for 380 gp. But for the sake of the idea for the campaign, how could this become workable? Thanks!
Hey all. I have a new player coming into my Pathfinder campaign who is wanting to play a giant. When we first set up the campaign I allowed for the players to have access to any race that was equal to or less racial points than the drow noble. That's 41 RP for those who don't know how much a drow noble is worth off hand. So my question is, do any of you know of a giant race that would be 41 RP or less? I'm considering having him make a half giant instead, if the other giants are out of the ballpark. Thanks all!
So, in the race building section for advanced races guide, there are several types of damage reduction one can take for their race. The question I have revolves around the combination of the Fey DR and the Moon-Touched DR, seen below. Fey Damage Resistance wrote:

The question I have for this is, would it be then be okay to take both of these to make the race's Damage Resistance DR 5/cold iron AND silver? I know nothing states otherwise as far as I can see, but other than having a +3 weapon, I can't see overcoming both of these. I mean, as far as I know you can't forge a blade of alchemical silver AND cold iron. Not to mention, this would completely make the standard damage reduction in the racial defensive traits section entirely useless. If a +1 magical weapon overcomes DR 5/magic, then theoretically making a Fey who just happens to have both of these DR types would make the standard DR types pointless. So... To wind down this big rant to a simplified question... Has there been some form of errata made to correct this? Or is there something I legitimately missed here that would not allow this in the first place? Thanks so much!
How many RP are usually allowed when making a custom playable race? I understand 1 - 10 is for a standard race and 11 - 20 is for advanced. Then 21 - 30 is monstrous, right? So does this mean 1 - 20 could all be playable races? I'm trying to make a race of playable sentient undead, but undead by themselves cost around 16 RP if I remember right.
We really want to mess with our GM. To be funny. We're planning on all playing the same race and same class just to mess with him. We're thinking of going all human fighters, or all Drow Warlocks. Perhaps we could do an all archer situation? We're not sure yet. What do you all think? - Thanks!
Hey again all. I'm here this time to get some advice on what you all would say would make the best in your face no holds barred killing machine. One of my players decided to run his own campaign and I was tasked with making our non-magical DPS character. Keep in mind that I'm not playing mindlessly or playing on a power trip. I will develop a full background and creative character concept too and not just shout "I KILL IT" every encounter. But, I would like to to pretty much drop anything I hit instantly. Or get as close to it as possible. Our DM is starting us out at level 3, giving us 1000 starting gold, and allowing any race lower than CR 2 without the ability to fly or the incorporeal ability. Also, only medium or small size. We have a 25 point buy as well. I'm thinking of dual wielding bastard swords. What do you all think? Defense is not a priority. I'll gladly sacrifice it to deal more damage. But I'd like to avoid playing a barbarian if possible. Thanks guys!
Hey again guys. Got another conflict of interest with a player and the rules. A player is arguing that racial weapon proficiency and exotic weapon proficiency stack for use of making two handed weapons effectively useable in one hand. Their argument is based around the bastard sword which is standardly a one handed exotic weapon, but can be a two handed martial weapon without the exotic weapon proficiency feat for it. So the player devised that feasibly this could work both ways. He's advocating that since elves "treat any weapon with elven in it as a martial weapon," elves who normally wield an Elven curve blade two-handed as a martial racial weapon should, by the same logic as the bastard sword, be able to wield the curve blade one handed now as an exotic weapon if they take exotic weapon proficiency. He used the same logic for falchions in this reguard as well with orcs, since they gain racial proficiency with them. And then thought thar dwarven battle axes should become light weapons for dwarves under the same logic. My problem is, I see nothing restricting it but also obviously have found nothing supporting this notion either. I'm curious what you all would think about this and if any of you have definitive references to this in any of paizo's works? Thanks all!
Hey all. New to the site, but not so new to the Pathfinder system. Haha. Still, I'm having trouble with finding a legitimate rule for achieving non-lethal damage for the piercing damage type as a whole. So let me explain a bit what my player's issue is so you can understand where this is coming from. We have a player who wants to play a war priest to Rejiksson, a lawful good deity of justice and the elements. But for characterization and role play purposes, she does not want to ever kill or destroy anyone or anything aside from evil outsiders. Her character is armed with the deity's favored weapon (a bastard sword), a heavy steel shield with shield spikes, and 4 short spears. So she wants to be able to deal non-lethal damage across the board. She took bludgeoner and blade of mercy for the shield bashing and the bastard sword (I made a DM tweak of giving her rounded shield studs in place of pointed spikes. Which I felt was fair.) Now she's hoping to find a way to use her spear as a non-lethal weapon as well. Without the minus 4 penalty of course. She has weapon versatility for her bastard sword and only has one available feat left. What do you all recommend? I'm open to 3rd party publishing materials as a suggestion, but would prefer something that comes from paizo itself. Thank you so much!
