About Subaru Yamatachi
Background
Born in japan in 1852 to a high-ranking Samurai, Subaru lived a relatively quiet childhood. His mother died when he was young, and he was raised by his father. When he was a young man, the beginning of the Meiji restoration saw the abolition of the Samurai class, an event that saw the him and his father losing their noble privileges. However he was still happy until on one fateful day a young sovereign dragon killed his father for continuing to practice his Samurai ways against the wishes of the emperor. In bloody revenge he killed the already wounded dragon.
After being confronted by a professor from England named Peter Lorrimor who questioned him about the event, he set forth to Tokyo to seek his fortune. After some years spent destitute on the streets of the capital he was hired as a bodyguard by another professor named Johnathon Hawker.
He has worked in Johnathon's service ever since, keeping him safe and happy as he travels around the world. Despite the long years that have past, his killing of the dragon still remains with him, as scars upon both his body and mind.
Appearance
Subaru stands of average height for a Japanese man, making him rather short in comparison to most men in England. He keeps in excellent shape, with both his strength and agility being notable for his advancing years, although his once pitch black hair is beginning to grey. He remains clean-shaven.
His most notable features are the long jagged scar along his left jaw, and his eyes, which glow a burnished gold.
His is most often dressed in a coal-black suit, impeccably pressed, although fine, it could in no way be taken for anything but the garb of a servant.
Subaru speaks English precisely with only a tiny hint of an accent, however, when with friends he lets his accent become more pronounced. His voice, no matter the language, is deep and sonorous.
Personality
Subaru is quiet, patient and fiercely loyal. As far as he is concerned, the most important event of his life happened twenty years ago when he slew the dragon. Due to this view he manages to remain calm, collected and even at times overly withdrawn. His views will always align with those of his lord and friends, however he has extremely high standards of who he will trust.
However, worry does niggle at his mind. Whilst he has largely moved past his dragon-slaying, it still haunts him occasionally, often in nightmares. The changes which occurred to his body afterwards such as his glowing eyes and his new-found night-vision do not seem to have worsened, but he always fears they will. After all these years he still desires true closure, and cannot find it.
