I GM a long-running monthly D&D/PF game with an established, regular group of 3 players. We've hemorrhaged a couple players in the last few years due to folks moving out of the area, and as we gear up for a new game/campaign, we decided now might be the right time to start looking for some new blood to join us.

We rotate hosting duties between houses, moving between the Reading, Royersford, and Lansdale areas, on one Friday a month. So there's some travel required, but not a ton - just one night out of your month.

We're all in our mid-to-late(r) 30's, and been gaming together for about 11 years now. That said, we're not a stuffy group, and I like to think we're welcoming to newbies (to a game, or to the hobby as a whole). I really enjoy introducing new folks to gaming.

We mostly play your standard heroic fantasy-style game, but lately we've had a sci-fi itch, so we've decided to give Starfinder a try this fall. I'll be running the Dead Suns AP when it's released.

We've all got at least a passing interest in Cthulhu, and one of my players has graciously offered to give me a GMing break, so we'll do that for a couple months.

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, give me a PM or reply to this thread. We can talk further.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Yeah, I don't like playing by rules that my players don't have access to, as well. And I have no qualms with saying this NPC has spent years/decades/centuries developing his "draconic" appearance, so there's nothing wrong with him having devised a new spell, specifically for himself.

Once the players discover the spell, it's fair game for them as well. But I'm not going to ignore standards for myself that I'm going to hold my players to in the process.

But thanks for the advice, Shiroi.

Okay, here's the full setup - my villain is a 12th-level wizard lich. He's a fan of things draconic, and like to affect the form and mannerisms of a blue dragon.

I want him to seem as large as possible. As imposing as possible. The party is already clued-in (thanks to some careful note-keeping by our cleric's player and some clues I dropped earlier in the campaign) that he's not *really* a blue dragon, but I don't necessarily want to give away that he's actually medium-sized (or a lich for that matter, right away). I just want them to suspect that he's not really a blue dragon.

Okay, so what I really need is something from the "Glamer" subschool. None of which seem to really do what I'm looking for - none of which seem to give a visual size increase significant enough for what I want. =/

Ugh.

This is proving to be trickier than I thought it would be.

Okay, now I'm thinking a Persistent Major Image - that way it makes it just that much more unlikely that he's unintentionally "discovered."

So, it would follow that he could toss a Major Image on himself that makes him appear to be larger than he really is? The illusion would maintain until someone entered the space he "occupies" or touches him/interacts directly with the illusion, as long he's concentrating on it (+3 rounds).

OK. That should work suitably well for me.

I have an NPC villain who would like to give off the appearance of being significantly larger than he really is, without *actually* changing his size.

Any advice on how he can go about doing this via magical items, spell effects, abilities, whatever?

Hey there.

My regular, mostly-monthly, Friday gaming group is looking to add one more player for our Pathfinder game. We're all in our mid-to-later 30's, laid-back, casual gamers who get together and crack bad jokes, make stupid references, drink a beer or two, eat some pizza and roll some dice on a more-often-than-not monthly basis.

I'm currently putting the group though their paces as they try to retake the lost dwarven mining city of Zolurket from the undead that have called the mountain home for the last several thousand years. It's a pretty straightforward dungeon crawl-style game, with a bend towards adventure and exploration.

We all live within 20 minutes or so of Pottstown, PA, and rotate houses month-to-month. So, one month, we might be in Pottstown, the next in Exeter, the next in Harleysville.
