Shadow's Status

Hey folks, we have now gone 11 days with no reply to my last post. I get the sense that the game is just stuck in neutral whether it's RL issues, the past bog downs because of my own RL issues or perhaps the game so far is simply not grabbing the PCs attention well enough.

Regardless, I think I am going to shut this one down. Thanks for participating!

BAPTISM OF FIRE - Sunday - January 4, 1993 – Milwaukee - Milwaukee Center Building - The Prince's Public Haven

"Sorry doll, no can do. I have to stay put here to redirect anyone that is not supposed to be here. Security is a bring job and all but I take it seriously. It's right down there easy enough to find. These two big guys I am sure will give you all the protection you need not that you need it, this one of the safest buildings in Milwaukee. Security here is pretty tight!"

No worries, we'll let someone else push the action forward this week :-)

There is a post up and anyone who wishes can respond!

BAPTISM OF FIRE - Sunday - January 4, 1993 – Milwaukee - Milwaukee Center Building - The Prince's Public Haven

The Coterie takes the stairs as far up as they can get. As they turn the corner they find a man wearing a suit, hair slicked back with a big bulge in his upper right jacket indicates that he is likely carrying a gun.

"Good evening folks, if you are looking for the pool or the fitness center, I believe you are lost". He points down the hall, The elevator bank is down that way. It will bring you to the second floor. There is no pool on the roof here. Terribly sorry".

Randolph trots over to the man who turns to him surprised, "TAKE A WALK, FORGET WE WERE HERE"

Manipulation+Subterfuge 3d10 + 1d10 ⇒ (4, 10, 7) + (1) = 22 His voice echoes in command, the man does so albeit it hesitantly. Randolph frowns and grabs the door, "Hurry on in".

After several minutes of climbing, the Coterie manages to take a set of stairs up to nearly the Penthouse though it seems there are at least a few more floors in the building, no doubt the Prince does not want to make it too easy to sneak upon him unawares.

You will have to either find a another set of stairs up or grab an elevator from the hallway on this floor, any preference?

BAPTISM OF FIRE - Sunday - January 4, 1993 – Milwaukee - Milwaukee Center Building - The Prince's Public Haven

After a few minutes of observation Shane's eye picks up the security lapse. Residents, or perhaps workers, open a fire door and use a fire extinguisher to prop the door open and smoke for a bit before heading back inside.

Being near that door will get the group in and a bit of Dominate will allow anyone who saw you to promptly forget they did so!

Someone give me a Dominate 3 roll to get the next security lapse to forget all about the Coterie's entrance.

Randolph hops in and John pushes out the dazed driver and slams on the gas.

He turns off of the road and just in time! As police go speeding by presumably towards the area where the Coterie was ambushed. Silence reigns in the car as the Coterie heads towards the Prince's haven, no doubt that was not an accident, not based upon the reactions of those Mortals.

The car does have damage and you receive a strange look from the security guard out front when you pull up to the building. He is clearly freezing. He approaches, "Can't park here folks, the parking lot around the corner is fine though. You can go in front and sign in if you want to see a resident".

Will update tomorrow or Thursday, I need my book for the next scene :-)

Shane hops into the back seat as sirens can be heard in the distance. They are not exactly close and they may not even necessarily be coming here but who wants to stick around and explain this!?

Someone give me a Perception + Drive roll DC 6.

Shadow's Status

Your car is a mess, the driver is not dead but he is incapacitated. This car is damaged but indeed serviceable, a tight fit for the Coterie but better than on foot!

Shadow's Status

Damn, no one has failed a roll to utilize a Discipline yet!

Shadow's Status

The driver stops as ordered by Morag. The man Shane holds ceases struggling and retains the dazed look on his face.

While the scene initially had those nearby fleeing, with the action stopped, it's only a matter of time before they, and the police, come by to investigate.

Randolph is now holding the uzi, quite the dangerous weapon even for young Licks like yourselves.

What do you do?

Shadow's Status

Are we running out of gas on this one folks or everyone just simply as busy as I have been lately?

Shadow's Status

Shane charges as well Dex+Brawl 3d10 + 3d10 ⇒ (1, 4, 7) + (7, 7, 10) = 36 and manages to grapple the man pinning him against the car.

The driver begins to put the car slowly into reverse his eyes too have a glazed look about them.

Shane holds the man aloft as the car backs away and begins to pick up speed.

"You don't even belong here, you ave somewhere to be, hell, you can;t even remember why you are here, drop that and walk away"

Forgetful Mind - 3d10 + 1d10 ⇒ (9, 10, 4) + (9) = 32

The gunman to the left drops his weapon but then bends down to retrieve it, ever so slowly almost as if he is barely aware he is doing so. The other wanders off, his gun left behind.

The crowd continues to scream and run away.

Morag takes a brusie from being jostled around. The driver of the limo seems to have taken the worst of the hit and looks to be unconscious.

From the far side of the tinted window lincoln town car that hit your limo step out two hooded men in ski masks sporting semi-automatic uzis! This was no mere traffic accident, any bystanders nearby begin to flee in panic as the men appear!

You should always include Fortitude in your soak and Fortitude only against Fire and Sunlight, I am more lenient with supernatural weapons as I allow Stamina as well, else why should Fire or Sunlight be truly feared?

Round 1 -
Randolph and Morag - GO!
Gunmen

John 2d10 + 2d10 ⇒ (6, 1) + (1, 4) = 12
Morag 3d10 + 2d10 ⇒ (1, 10, 9) + (6, 9) = 35

Shane and John make it a tight fit indeed but it being a limo no one feels terribly constricted.

The car speeds towards the Milwaukee Center Building the driver points he building out and it looms ever closer in the distance a beautifual moden building.

Suddenly, a car drives right through a red light and slams into the limo!

Everyone make a soak roll or take 1 damage from being jostled around in the limo from the impact

Venturi picks up the phone and makes a call for a car. A few moments later he hangs up, "Wait outside, the car is on its way. The Prince will be expecting you".

As you exit the building, the old security guard waves goodbye and you step into the brisk evening air.

Within fifteen minutes, a limo pulls up. The driver hustles out and opens the door for your group, "Step in folks, it's damned cold out here!"

Anyone object or want to do anything else before stepping in? Sorry for the delay, this is one book I do not have electronically!

Recap:

BAPTISM OF FIRE - Friday - January 1, 1993 – Modius' Manse

As the others shuffle out only you all, Modius, Allicia, and Danov remain.

Modius sighs, "I fear that even with their sacrifice, we will need something more to hold off Lodin if we wish to remain independent of that fools overreach. I have it on good knowledge from my friend Alexander Danov, the Nosferatu smiles "that the Tremere Justicar will be visiting Milwaukee in two days time! I believe that if we can present our case to Justicar Gabrielle di Righetti Gary will triumph!

Can I count on the six of you to head to Milwaukee to plead our case?

Of course, Patrick and Bradley, you should both let your Justicar know that there is no doubt that Lodin would prevent any new Chantry from being created in Gary were we to remain even remotely under his thumb".

Allicia gently squeezes John's hand as Modius makes his request.

Modius smiles, "Come along Alicia, I am sure that we should leave our new friends alone to plot their trip..." Modius, Alicia on his arm strolls down the hall leaving you all alone with Alexander Danov.

He watches the Prince leave and looks to Shane, "He did not say it in so many words but he doesn't want to know what you plan to do outside of what he suggested. The Tremere Justicar is arriving in two nights but should be there for at least three thereafter.

Were I you Shane I'd shy away from the Nosferatu of Milwaukee and make it clear to those who you meet, you are not from the city.

The Prince of the city is a Ventrue, Hrothfulf, an ally of Lodin. However, you should first seek out the Toreador Primogen named Lucina at the Hyatt in Milwaukee. She will be the most welcoming face you shall likely see in that city.

It is a dangerous place... the roads to it are all heavily watched by Lupines. You may arrive there by rail or by flight but both of those ways are controlled by the Kindred of Chicago whose Ghouls are well trained to recognize Kindred.

BAPTISM OF FIRE - Sunday - January 4, 1993 – Milwaukee - The Safehouse

The old man gives a sly wink, "Yes, yes he does".

The man unlocks the door and opens it as you all enter he looks around and closes and locks the door behind you all. "Follow me".

He walks you through long dark halls with many closed doors. This place seems like any administrative building any of you have ever been in, nothing particularly architecturally interesting about it and certainly a place where Mortals live their lives going about mundane tasks until they retire or die.

He leads you to the basement which is even more dank than the ground floors and down another long hallway with less doors and a worse smell as if the janitors forgot it ever existed. Behind the last door of opaque glass which the old man opens is seated a Mortal with a smooth shaved face but a thin tight moustache. His beige suit is expensive but dated to at least the 60's and he wears a similar colored fedora. He looks up from a newspaper and narrows his eyes. "Leave us Lou".

Lou nods, tips his hat and closes the door, "Have a good evening folks".

Venturi cracks his neck, "Well?"

You find a buzzer at the side door, after several minutes a light is turned on in the hallway and an older gentleman steps to the window. He squints and calls through the glass his voice a bit muffled, [b]"City Hall is closed folks, come back during business hours tomorrow".

Finished with your "meals" the coterie heads to City Hall to find this Mr. Venturi. The area around the Hall is quiet at night, the front doors are closed though there are a few lights on within the upper floors of this administration building. While it is not in disrepair as so much in Gary was, the building could certainly use a makeover, the ornamentation at the top of the buildings are worn down as are the gargoyles that were once likely quite detailed.

There are also two side entrances.

The building is set on a green lawn and is fairly well lit so there are no areas to sneak about, without the assistance of Blood powers anyway. As you look upon the building a patrol car with two officers rolls by, they glance in your direction but do not observe you with great scrutiny.

"I am Martovich. I fear I am not familiar with this Modius you speak of so I am unsure of your business here but I surmise he must be an Elder of your city else you'd not be here on business on his behalf.

As I said, Mr. Venturi is your man. He has an office at City Hall, ask for Lou the Old Timer, he is an associate of Venturi.

I can, for a substantial sum, provide you with sustenance this night. Though you are all likely Camarilla, with no feeding rights as of yet, to partake of the living of this city would be a breach of Domain".

"I see. You will wish to visit with one Mr. Venturi. He is the man who knows the whereabouts of the Prince on a daily basis these days.

The City has been on edge with rivalries lately though no blood has been spilled as of yet, the Prince is taking no chances until the arrival of the Justicar who will call a Conclave within days.

Now, normally, I would not reveal such important information but I wish to know exactly who you all are and why you are here".

"Follow me".

The presence of the crowd can be felt, the people are in a jovial mood, eating, drinking, living, none the wiser that several beings, the embodiment of death pass near them. A few shiver unconsciously as your group passes by.

On a screen above the bar is a camera that views the entrance where you all just were, a couple who does not know the password are walking about clucking little chickens to the amusement of the other patrons.

The hostess brings you to a wall and presses a button. The wall spins revealing a booth to seat eight, plenty of room. She points out the button you can press to spin into the room once more, "A waiter will be with you shortly".

As the booth spins the other way, you are in a truly private area now, the only way to reach you is by pressing the button the activates the mechanism. Before you can speak, an intercomm buzzes overhead, "Greetings and welcome to the Safehouse. Your group is not know to me, who are you and why are you here? No need to pretend you are other than Kindred with me..." It is hard to tell if the voice is male or female.

He is Human or really good at faking breathing and flushing his face.

The man at the entrance sighs with a small smile, "It appears then that you are members. Come on in and enjoy".

The bookcase in the room opens to reveal a bar. Patrons within grin at your group giving a small clap to your successful entrance. Some appear a bit disappointed but not many.

As you enter the room it is a long bar, above the top of the room are flashing lights around a small tube, something zips through quickly. The walls shift ever so slightly as you take in the scene. A female steps to you as you enter, "Would you like a table, a private room, or do you prefer to sit at the bar?"

Anyone with Auspex can go ahead and scan the room. If this is Elysium, there may be Kindred nearby.

"Sorry, took some time to find the Chantry and then they vetted the s**# out of me before they let me in. The Regent here let me know two things. First, Randolph should stop by tomorrow for a Blood Walk, he'll know what that means. Second, we should introduce ourselves to the Prince by tomorrow night. He's a lot more lenient than Lodin is reputed to be.

I hinted at the Justicar visit but the Regent was coy about it, maybe I'll get more out of him tomorrow".

The best options now are either contact the Toreador or contact the Tremere. John could also try and contact the Ventrue from his home city to see if they can assist him with the local Ventrue though that won't be for free... The Toreador supposedly stays here. The Tremere Bradley is already looking into off scene but that does not mean Randolph cannot try as well.

"Cool ok, looking forward to the show but please just leave ok?"

Jack grins, and places a blood bag in his backpack, "One for the road! Let's get moving!"

He hustles out the door with Bradley who looks a bit frazzled at the turn of events.

Assuming you all get on the bus.

The Bus pulls out with a screech and the smell of burned rubber. The "sense of direction" of Jack speaks from the back of the bus, "Hey Jack, rememeber, we're heading to the Hyatt no other stops ok?"

Jack turns back, completely, sweriving to the other side of the road running a few cars off in the process! "Yep. Got it!"

Perhaps thirty minutes later you arrive at the Hyatt Regency, a large fairly upscale hotel, "See, safe and sound!" screams out Jack as he damn near collides with the porte-cochere of the front entrance. The few guests nearby are forced to leap out of the way and begin cursing at him, he turns to them his eyes wide with rage and they flee the sight of the madman rather quickly.

Bradley lets out a large breath, "Well that was as terrified as I've been since... well since I actually had to breathe".

Everyone who entered the Blood Bank can gain 2 BP, the Ventrue 1 BP as refined blood was not that easy to find! :-)

Iron John Anderson,

I have privately recruited one more PC who will join once he returns from vacation in a few weeks.

That is 5 PCs an more than enough to get this going once more, I do not plan to recruit anyone else.

I will put up a push post now to get the action going once more.

Thank you all for returning to give this one another go :-)
