So, several of us use to play a little of PFS back in the day, until D&D 5e came out and it kinda got lost to the wayside. With PF2 out now, and some interesting new mechanics in the mix, we thought we'd rry our hand again at PFS at an upcoming con.

So far, the Pathfinder 2nd Edition Core book itself is great, but I've been having some issues in trying to find everything regarding the Pathfinder Society stuff themselves, as -- unless I'm simply looking at the wrong spots -- everything seems to be scattered around among the Paizo main Pathfinder pages, blog entries and a third-party website.

Which is nothing new for an OP campaign, but I wanted to make sure I was getting everything correct here so when we head to the convention next month, all our ducks are in a row.

ASSUMPTION #1: The is the original Pathfinder Society Organized Play campaign, which uses the Pathfinder (original edition) rules and its own set of guidlines, and then there is also a Pathfinder Society Organized Play campaign which uses the Pathfinder 2nd Edition rules and its own set of guidelines, although the two are seperate, and do not allow characters from one to be used in the other. Both, however, are still called just "Pathfinder Society" and both are sharing the same Forum so I'll have to make sure the games we are signing up for are for the new 2nd Edition version, which I'm guessing is based solely on the mod numbers? For example "PF2 1-01: The Absalom Initiation" is the first mod of the first season for the 2nd edition campaign, correct?

ASSUMPTION #2: The current places I should be looking for the most-up-to-date info on what is and isn't legal for a PFS2 character are:
• http://www.organizedplayfoundation.org/encyclopedia/pfs2guide/ -- for the base online copy of the game rules and procedures of PFS2 OP.
• http://www.organizedplayfoundation.org/encyclopedia/pathfinder-2-0-characte r-options/ -- for any additional non-Core book allowances, of which much of the newest stuff has not been added yet, and so for that I need to be looking at https://paizo.com/community/blog/v5748dyo6sh3j?Pathfinder-Society-Character -Options instead (for now).

ASSUMPTION #3: The PF2 OP Campaign uses the PF2 Core book for allowable elements at character creation, and other stuff with special permission. Right now, the only 'other stuff' freely available for use at character creation (that doesn't require stuff like Achievement Points and/or special campaign certificates and/or physical copies of the book and/or watermarked PDFs) besides the PF2 Core book -- I think -- is the Lost Omens World Guide? I think there may be some elements from Lost Omens Character Guide and Lost Omens Gods & Magic but I'm not entirely sure on that. For example, under the Lost Omens Character Guide it says that "All ancestry options are of standard availability," but then it also immediately adds that the "hobgoblin, leshy, and lizardfolk ancestries are uncommon" which means they can't be taken. But stuff like the organizational feats (assuming they are not labelled as uncommon) would be available, such as stuff from Firebrand or Hellknights?

So, if I'm reading all of this correctly, if we showed up at a game next month, our brand-spanking new characters would be built from the Core PF2 book and the non-uncommon parts of the Lost Omens World Guide.

Sorry for the long post, but there's an awful lot to go through here as a (once again) new player, and I wanted to minimize any unforeseen weirdness when we hit the tables next month. Thanks in advance!

One benefit you might qualify for, though, are Legacy Backgrounds. Save those old sheets to see which Seasons you played during, and maybe one of the new backgrounds will appeal to your new character.

Unfortunately, if I am reading this list correcly, I only have at most four of any single Season (Zero) mods under my belt from back then, so I'm afraid i don't quite qualify. No worries, though, thanks!

While you can still play him in PFS1, you do need to make a new character for 2E.

There are no conversion rules, and this was done on purpose, so that we could get a clean break.

That's fair, then. Thank you!

So, first off, I haven't played Pathfinder since pretty much D&D 5e came out, but the new Pathfinder 2nd Edition seemed interesting enough that some of us have decided to try the system at an upcoming convention where they were running Pathfinder Society Organized Play games.

Looking back, I discovered an old 4th level character that I had used in the Pathfinder Society way back when, and still had the adventure records, and it looks like there were various sessions listed for him in the online system here.

My question, is, is that still a legal character here in the new Pathfinder Society Organized Play, now that it looks like its using he 2nd Edition rules? Presumably he'd need to be updated to the PF2 rules/mechanics (obviously), but I couldn't find any guidelines on how that would work. Or maybe there was a window to convert them and it's already passed? Or will I just have to create a new character using he new version's rules?

I don't mind creating a new fresh character, but I wanted to see what my options were here first. It's been a long time since I've dealt with PF, so I'm quite rusty.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, I was hoping someone might be able to check on the status of this order? According to the emails, it looks like it was supposed to have gone out around the 12th of August, but I haven't seen anything yet, and the order page says it's not trackable, unfortunately.

Thanks in advance,
Steve

You should find the pdfs you got for your level as well manage your Kickstarter PLEDGE section also if you want to change anything.

Thanks, but I looked through the My Downloads section, and all I found in there were, well, PDFs and such -- nothing about managing my kickstart Pledge section or anything, or even any links to anything I could see. The only thing listed as from Goblinworks that was available for download so far was a PFS sheet for use in the tabletop campaign.

I mean, I don't think I need to change anything since I first pledged (altho there may be have something where you'd need to define a region or city for a character), but I had seen a blog post about that sort of option coming up soon, yet didn't see anything beyond that in the archives, and so I wanted to make sure I hadn't missed anything.

Okay, I apologize because this is almost assuredly a stupid question, but maybe I've just missed something along the way. Where exactly are we supposed to checking on recent development as far as out personal pledges/rewards with Kickstarter and PFO? I recall back in late April, I think, they mentioned that they would be making some mailing or discussion or login regarding checking your Kickstarter contribution or the like, but I never got anything in my email at least. Then a week or three later they mentioned something in the blog about making sure you had your paizo.com account, and that its email was the same as the one you used on the Kickstarter pledge, but again, I didn't seem to get anything beyond that.

Has all that not been released yet, or was an email sent out asking you to log in to so-and-so and do this-and-that and I missed it somehow? I want to make sure I don't fall behind on any of this; I'm having a great time so far just reading the blog posts and getting all this juicy insider info on how a game like an MMO is actually created, but I want to make sure I don't miss some esoteric deadline to do something.

Thanks in advance!

I apologize if this has been answered previously. I searched the forums, but didn't seem to find anything specific to this particular question.

I understand from the campaign rules that GMs 'eating' a mod gain 1xp, 1/2 level-appropriate gold, and 1/2 faction points. It also specifically mentions that the character they apply it to does NOT gain access to "special bonuses [...] such as free magical treasure, boons, or bonus dice rolls in the future."

However, what category does 'regular' item access on an AR fall into? If the AR includes access to an otherwise normal, standard magic item that would be appropriate to the character level of the PC the rewards are being applied to, does the GM's character get that access?

Also, while I'm thinking about it, what if your GM character is, say, lvl 3? Would he get 1/2 gold as per the 1-2 tier, or 1/2 gold as per the 4-5 tier?

Thanks in advance,
Steve M

Excellent; thanks, guys.

I apologize if I'm missing the obvious, but I checked the Paizo site as best I could, and didn't see anything like an System Resource Document available.

Is there such a beast for Pathfinder? I'm not even sure, given the way to Pathfinder system is founded on the old Wizards OGL, if that would even exist in the first place, or if so, in what form it would be.

When playing Living Greyhawk, I used MSWord to create little summoned monster sheets that had all the creature's stats, adjusted for feats, etc., using the SRD as a base. I'd like to do that again, but there's no way I'm going to type all those stats in manually. :-)

Sovereign Court

Okay, so just prior to the death of Living Greyhawk/D&D, I had created a character that used a mancatcher to great effect, and, more importantly, he was super fun to play.

So now my group is looking at getting back into a Living-style campaign with Pathfinder and the PFS. My question: is there such a weapon as the mancatcher in Pathfinder, and if so, is it legal in PFS? Because I will happily head right over to the store here and buy a copy of that supplement this instant if it is.

I tried looking around to see if I could find a reference to one, but, frankly, the Paizo website is an excruciating chore to try and navigate through, so if I missed it somewhere obvious, my apologies in advance.

Thanks!

Yeah, I had seen that and the Gazetteer, but we kinda were looking for some more free resources to get a feel for the setting; none of us particularly want to shell out a bunch of cash yet on a setting/campaign that we're still rather lukewarm on.

That said, I think the resources mentioned should give us a better concept of the setting for now.

Ah, thanks, everyone. The Wiki and the blog appear to be just what I was looking for.

Sovereign Court

Greetings, all.

The local gamers and I have long been fans of Organized gaming (indeed, almost all of us have volunteered administratively in various RPGA campaigns over the years, and I was even the co-coordinator of one for a time). So it would be an understatement to say we were disappointed when 4th edition came out and the 'death' of D&D occurred (in our eyes, at least).

I had been keeping half an eye on the Paizo site, ever since discovering they were working on a D&D "3.75," so to speak, and was generally pleased with stuff I had seen regarding the Pathfinder system. I was even more pleased when I discovered recently that there was an Organized Play-esque campaign being set up by Paizo that would be using the new system.

There was an initial buzz of interest, but it was unfortunately toned down when we started going through the rules, and ran across a few design oddities (Cheliax/evil PCs, 3.5-at-the-moment, etc.) that lessened our enthusiasm somewhat.

But, many of us are determined to at least have a second look, and the setting seems interesting, to a point. However, all I have been able to find so far regarding the setting is a few scattered paragraphs detailing each faction in the PFS campaign guide; everything else on the world, setting, etc. seems to be available only by purchasing the full setting books, which is a bit of a stretch for us at the moment, especially considering the fact that we are still lukewarm about the campaign, and are still hoping to warm up to it.

I'm obviously not expecting there to be the entire campaign setting books for free somewhere or the like, but perhaps a middle-ground sort of setting guide I'm missing? Something with a brief synopsis of the world, the deities, the nations (not just the five factions), a map or such? The Paizo website seems a little less than intuitive to get around sometimes, and I quite likely may have completely looked right over it at some point, so I was hoping maybe someone could point me in the right direction? Or maybe a website or fan sites with some more info and detail?

Thanks,
Steve M
