Welcome to the Ultimate Combat playtest. In this playtest we are unveiling three new alternate classes: the gunslinger (alternate to fighter), the ninja (alternate to rogue) and the samurai (alternate to cavalier). The gunslinger brings firearms to the Pathfinder RPG in a big way, while the ninja and the samurai are iconic Asian takes on the rogue and cavalier respectively. This messageboard is for posting specific feedback and playtest observations for all three classes. General discussion for each of these alternate classes has its own messageboard.

Similar to past playtests, we are looking for feedback concerning the mechanics and flavor of these classes. Gaining feedback from actual playtest sessions is best. While we also want your thoughts and general musings--as those are useful--playtest reports and feedback are more important for our purposes. How do these classes stack up with other, similar characters? Are the special abilities clear? Are they too good? Not good enough? How does the class function as an NPC or villain in actual play?

Please post the level that you playtested and any other important details about your play, like the enemies faced and the eventual outcome of the encounter or the adventure. Raw numbers are always helpful; don't be afraid to give us too much information.

This round of playtest will remain open for three weeks, until February 14th, 2010.

We look forward to reading your playtest comments and feedback. So be cool, play some games, and have at least as much fun playing and giving us feedback as we had creating these alternate classes.

On last note, these classes are playable in Pathfinder Society Organized Play. For specific rules on how to use these classes and other classes in Pathfinder Society Organized Play, see the information on this page

Post your 2011 gaming resolutions here, and don't get mad if some of us steal some really good ones.

Hey everyone,

We're hard at work on finishing the magus, and one of the things we're working on is the magus archetypes. We have a pretty good list so far, but before the playtest ends, we wanted to ask all of you, what kind of magus archetypes would you like to see in Ultimate Magic and beyond? Post your ideas here!
