Stephanie takes a sharp look around the room as Whiskey prods at one of the goblin bones.
" I.. well to be honest I am unsure. It looks like the lair of a monster of some variety but none is readily apparent. Perhaps the chains themselves could be the trap? I've heard tales of animate objects ambushing the unwary before" Stephanie explains giving the chains themselves a more specific look.

Does there appear to be blood on the chains in this room. Do the bones appear chewed on or does it look like time removed the flesh? Don't suppose the room itself smells like say, blood or whatever it is trolls spell like. We did meet one of those already after all. Well I suppose the room is about to smell like fire but before that.

No objections from me.

Stephaine says in the middle of the parties bulk as Halister, Ronwig and others sought out any signs of danger.
The little gnome mulling things over as they had happened.
Need to show Miagnik some of the books mother kept relating to calling. The others are right, outsiders are a sort of fire mages don't play with unless they are exceptionally powerful or desperate.

Mistress.. are you done being weird mistress? It looks like your shiny bird collector, beard with legs and mouse thief are going to open a door. The owl chirps as it looks at Stephanie, the woman blinking a few times before refocusing on the hallway from whatever she'd been on about this time.
" Yes. thats a good point Whiskey. Also stop being rude their names are Hallister, Miagnik and Ronwig."

With how twisty her mind has to be for her magic specialty Stephanies nightmares are the fun kind that make you question if you are actually awake or not. Never mind the ingrained fears most spell casters are going to have about time shenanigans. Messing with forces beyond your comprehension gets you turned into goo. Or eaten by a demon.

The bird looked at Stephanie, she looked back.
A pause extending as the little gnomes brow and jawline did some interesting movements to express the sheer enormity of her confusion.
"Buh?" The mage replied to her bird.

Mistress, do you want me to take that note now? I see you have more dwarves with you. Are they going to feed me?

"But.. causality.. laws.. what? Was it all an illusion? Am I an illusion?" the gnome muttered as she examined the bird in front of her petting his feathers, the action being well received with a hoot of concern added.
Mistress, did you accidentally put those glow-y mushrooms in your tea again? I know I didn't. I hope you didn't the mouse you gave me that day tasted like peppermints." The owl hooted again, twisting its head as it looked at the hyperventilating mage.
I hate peppermints Mistress." The owl hooted finally before giving a rather human approximate of a shrug and digging into a pouch in search of a snack.
"Hah. peppermints, tactile/olfactory imaging with recursive suggestions to not question its nature. Mental trap to make us think we succeeded?* Impossible, too much power. But ley lines. Limited focus. Improbable?" The gnome rattles off in a broken dwarvish.
You should calm down Mistress. The mouse thief could be a fake but I'm far too important to be a fake me. That would just be wrong." the owl finishes with a haughty hoot of finality before catching a leg in a pouch strap and sending up a plume of feathers as he narrowly avoids hitting the ground only to overshoot and bump into the door before his path takes him to the ground.
" I meant to do that." the owl chirps while righting himself.

Stephanie looks to the owl and smiles but says little else.
I... I'm pretty sure Whiskey wouldn't do that if this were some kind of perfect illusory world.

* Sounds impossible right? The Zygomind disagrees.

Stephanie who had been running her brain in circles trying to comprehend the enormity of a child who had such potent divinations in their mind and the probable causes for such. Broken from such thoughts by Maelodakh Stephanie looks up to see the group gathering around the teleporting device and several already gone.
Well I can only hope this device works as advertised. The correction to Mae's accusation dying as Luelleschia spoke the gnome frowning as her wheels spun.
If she tells the girl her nature she is shown to be ration and semi-trustworthy throwing any folklore lady Guisse knows into disarray and making us seem the aggressive party if we try to dissuade her from trusting the outsider.

" She also has plenty of reason to dislike Omara at the moment so for now our interests align. Sadly I don't have anything shoe-like to offer you, does anyone have spare belt pouches? We could likely turn those into workable slippers."/

Once responses were had Stephanie touches the device and follows her sister.

Stephanie shoots Hallister an offended look before noticing the sigil on the vial. Oh.. he was testing if she was.. Oh. Why didn't I think of that for the last one?

If there is no smoking or other signs of Gabrielle reacting to the blessed water
The gnome moves a few steps closer to the girl and with a quick arcane gesture the liquid Hallister had splashed the young woman with evaporated and leaving her cleaner than she was before.
"Sorry about my companions caution."

Stephaine jerks slightly toward their newest and demonic companion before suppressing her scholastic zeal. She can say it. Outing him for forgetting what Luelleschia just said would be rude. I know Maelodahk was asleep for most of that. It was nice to have someone I could talk to and use big words though.

Female Gnome (Dwarf/goblin half blood) Wizard/5, HP 26/26 (2 NL), AC 12 (T-12, FF-11), Fort +0 Ref +4 Will +4 ---- Init. +6, Perc. +2

Well its entirely possible shes another demon. I mean they said she was a seer but I don't know if there is anything else to that. She could be insane from having been down here or cursed to help her master with magic like the demons. Oh and what if she lies? do.. do I have to shoot her with a acid bubble to test if she's demonic? what if she's just naturally resistant to acid? I'd hate to falsely con-"
Stephanie who had been considering how best to approach the sleeping woman blinks seeing the job already done.
Damn.
The gnome giving Hallister a sheepish expression and a silent prayer to the pair that her more grim possibilities did not turn out to be correct.

*scritch*
A ghost and an owl sat in a room.
*scritch scritch*

"dumb mistress leaving me alone with a door and a whimpy goblin Librarar.. Librivia.. book slave. I'll show them! I'll show them all!"
The owl appeared to be scratching a rather complicated plan involving bacon, projectile poop, heavy books and a lidded pit trap while hooting in a rather humanoid approximation of an evil laugh.

Female Gnome (Dwarf/goblin half blood) Wizard/5, HP 26/26 (2 NL), AC 12 (T-12, FF-11), Fort +0 Ref +4 Will +4 ---- Init. +6, Perc. +2

That would suck.
I take by the lack of things attacking us that this new area is empty of threats?

Looks like the postmonster stopped by for a snack. Lucky me.

Stephanie looks down at her shoes and smiles a bit at the compliment It wasn't like I did all that much. However I think.. just this once it would be better to not bother to correct them.

the princess looking over to her sister smiling at the interactions. " I'm sure Mae has a tome or two. If I remember correctly last time you informed me they were excellent for crushing nuts and other shelled things with. Perhaps we can have her be a storyteller next time we camp." The gnome suggests as she recalls the story in question with a small smile. She certainly hadn't been pleased at the time, but such was the wonder of time softening things.

Female Gnome (Dwarf/goblin half blood) Wizard/5, HP 26/26 (2 NL), AC 12 (T-12, FF-11), Fort +0 Ref +4 Will +4 ---- Init. +6, Perc. +2

I seem to have forgotten to add the save for Stephanie's spell is 16 (reflex) assuming the demon has a place he'd be able to stand in his chains reach.
It might be more amusing for him to succeed and cling to the wall on a quarter inch lip of stone while hurling curses at us as we pass by.

Female Gnome (Dwarf/goblin half blood) Wizard/5, HP 26/26 (2 NL), AC 12 (T-12, FF-11), Fort +0 Ref +4 Will +4 ---- Init. +6, Perc. +2

Or a turkey leg on a rope. I was unsure so I left the description up to Terquem plus I have no idea if this demon succeeds on his save either. He would also likely hit the opposing wall with a delightful thud as he is standing at the far edge of his chain. this seems like a much more amusing solution than fighting him.

Female Gnome (Dwarf/goblin half blood) Wizard/5, HP 26/26 (2 NL), AC 12 (T-12, FF-11), Fort +0 Ref +4 Will +4 ---- Init. +6, Perc. +2

apologies for the delay. I also seem to have completely misjudged hos large these rooms are. I thought they were at least double the dimensions show in the map.

Stephaine shrugs as she looks at the demon in question. " I mean, have you considered that flesh is really only an idea to the intent of your desire? I suppose I'd have to have heard the entire agreement to tell you where you might weasel more than a paltry thing like meat out of the agreement. Fairies are famous for requesting things like "a moment of your time" but never specifying where or when that moment would be or how long a moment is specified to be. Perhaps you could find a similar trick of wording to force more out of your master."

If he continues to be aggressive/ unhelpful

Stephanie nods " I can understand not wanting help from creatures you'd commonly view as prey. We seem to ahve reached an impasse. Good bye." With that she snaps a few quick motions and presents a crudely crafted collection of gold coins forced into an appearance of a tiny shovel.
The ground beneath the demons feet dropping from under him as a twenty foot deep pit replaced the ground in a stuttering split second of conflicting reality.
" We need to be quick. also be careful to not fall in yourself."

The pit takes up U/V 2/3 squares. The green circle being what Ipresume is the demons limits with the chains he is attached to would mean he acually can't move to the edge of the pit to escape it so I think he might be denied a chance to do so. Regardless that also means anyone who wants to exit the room needs to make a 5ft jump to reach the door.

Female Gnome (Dwarf/goblin half blood) Wizard/5, HP 26/26 (2 NL), AC 12 (T-12, FF-11), Fort +0 Ref +4 Will +4 ---- Init. +6, Perc. +2

Female Gnome (Dwarf/goblin half blood) Wizard/5, HP 26/26 (2 NL), AC 12 (T-12, FF-11), Fort +0 Ref +4 Will +4 ---- Init. +6, Perc. +2

Stephanie nods and resumes whispering " I'll go tell Windel and the others so they can help, can you distract him so its easier to push him in? I will stand by Mae and tell her to push when it is time so she doesn't give it away." The gnome then moves over to the rest of her party and fills them in.

Avoiding the Aoo on this bullrush will likely be somewhat important. that penalty...Duh.
Right hallister can just go first and deflect the AOO with snake style or Parry. Then Mae, Windel, ronwig and Miagnik can sweep in if hallister doesn't do well enough to push the guy in.

Once everything is prepared Stephanine nods to hallister to signal to start.
Stephaine will summon the pit about 10ft back. The hope being that we can push him that far as that means there is enough slack for im to fall most of the way into the pit rather than just stopping after a 5-7 foot drop.

Female Gnome (Dwarf/goblin half blood) Wizard/5, HP 26/26 (2 NL), AC 12 (T-12, FF-11), Fort +0 Ref +4 Will +4 ---- Init. +6, Perc. +2

Stephanie frowns as she looks at the demon in front of her. "Well I don't know the particulars of him. I don't see a binding circle in this room. Hrmm.. what do I know about Incubi.
Knowledge:Planes?: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13 Not much apparently. Guess demon summoning wasn't covered much in Stephanie's education.
" Well if he is anything like Luell- the other, he is a corporeal manifestation rather than a like based magic image. Err.. He really exists here rather than being a creature piloting a body of magic like a summoned monster. So we are likely going to need to fight him to get past.
Stephaine then moves to Hallister and whispers in his ear
" I have a spell that could create a twenty foot deep pit behind him. It would likely take him longer to escape it than it would for us to close the doors, cross the room and exit."

Female Gnome (Dwarf/goblin half blood) Wizard/5, HP 26/26 (2 NL), AC 12 (T-12, FF-11), Fort +0 Ref +4 Will +4 ---- Init. +6, Perc. +2

"Thank you Windel."
Stephaine replies stopping an incantation before shifting to a lesser one. The gnome holding a word as she waits for the demon to act.

Stephaine is holding action until the demon reaches the extend of its chain or reaches one of her allies. She'll cast grease on him then. DC 15 reflex or fall prone.

Stephanie blinks slowly looking from her companions to the man behind the door.
"Are.. are we really having this conversation now? I mean I admit I was expecting some unimaginable terror made of tentacles and angry wasps but still." the noble gnome states as she looks at the corpulent man ahead of them.

I don't think I'll be able to get any information then. Familiars don't have a telepathic bond with their masters I'm not sure how Whiskey would be able to deliver the information. They can only deliver feeling without being in speaking range sadly. the reason I can talk with whiskey is the "Speak with Master" familiar ability which has all the limitations of speech.

Stephaine glanced at their newest demonic companion and then back over to Mae "Well..." the gnome starts as she looks over at Miagnik before deciding on a better route.
"Miagnik is correct Mae. However I imagine that were I an invisible demon I'd have run from that display." The gnome asserts giving her half sister an amused smile.

Also Windel is now a Giant dwarf. this amuses me.

"Before we go in it might be best if everyone takes out the weapons they have prepared for this if you are not wielding them already. Demons are commonly resitant to cold iron and if this ends up being a battle our ability to puncture that resistance is going to be important.
With that she looks over at he sister and Windel
"I prepared a spell that would increase your size. Letting you hit harder at the cost of the size making you somewhat less agile and a bigger target than you were before. It will last long enough that casting it now would let it carry over to our approaching fight. I can only cast is once though and the incantation is long enough that using it mid combat is dangerous. Which of you would like to use it? "

Has whiskey come back with information from our good ghostly goblin king yet? I don't know how long its been but I'd figured we burned some time faffing about with our new demon friend.

Female Gnome (Dwarf/goblin half blood) Wizard/5, HP 26/26 (2 NL), AC 12 (T-12, FF-11), Fort +0 Ref +4 Will +4 ---- Init. +6, Perc. +2

Stephanie had busied herself with packing books and preparing to move again while the others worked to free the demon. saying little as she was struck by the realization the somewhere there was a bird that was very angry with her.
"I wonder how whiskey is doing" the wizard mutters as she waits for her companions to finish what they had been doing.
-----------

On the other side of a ponderously large door sat an owl, the creature strutting back and fourth down the length of the closed portal looking for some measure of entrance.
"Mistress... why'd you leave without me Mistress. I'm expecting my reward bacon Mistress I can't eat that bacon if you are not here. The bacon is in your human saddle after all. The ghost of a green one told me all sorts of important things. Perhaps you ran away because you didn't have any more bacon? Ooohhh... do I need to poop on you as well mistress?" The Owl fumed as it continued to pace.
Yes! poop on the mouse thief, THEN! then poop on mistress! the best of plans. I made it after all
-------

Stephaine nods at Maelodakh and looks at the rather impressive doors.
" I'm not sure I'll be of much help in that though. I never was build for fighting like you Mae."
The little gnome gesturing to her meager arms then glancing to their newest companion standing over the goblin in question.
"Standing there puts you in the path of her backswing just so you know."
This is going to be a very awkward walk out of here isn't it?

Female Gnome (Dwarf/goblin half blood) Wizard/5, HP 26/26 (2 NL), AC 12 (T-12, FF-11), Fort +0 Ref +4 Will +4 ---- Init. +6, Perc. +2

Huh. could have sworn I posted something yesterday. *shakes fist at the mighty forum beast* Bah.

Stephanie stands, vanishing the dust of the floor from herself with a cantrip and placing all the books back into the depths of her pack while her mind processed everything.
"Well, I did have to be certain." The gnome says looking in the direction of Luelleschia before turning to the rest of the group. Giving the creature an uneasy gesture of fear and minor sympathy at her joke.
It wasn't so long ago that I was bound down here. If only there was a way I could assure my allies that granting you mercy would not come back to bite us later.

"The binding that holds her here is a simple one inscribed into the floor. She could physically leave this place once we broke the circle, however from what I can gather on it the binding that encompasses her spirit that Omara wrought is fantastically more powerful. Without reality altering magic on the level of primal arcane loci we will not be able to break it. She states the truth about there being a high chance that Omara could summon her back if we were to kill her. Even if we were capable of breaking the binding I doubt the bargains we'd need to enter to obtain such a potency would be worth it." The eye is still down there after all
" As far as I can tell Luelleschia has yet to misinform on the nature of the bindings she is under."

"So what do we do with her now?"

Female Gnome (Dwarf/goblin half blood) Wizard/5, HP 26/26 (2 NL), AC 12 (T-12, FF-11), Fort +0 Ref +4 Will +4 ---- Init. +6, Perc. +2

Stephanie nods as she reads her book sparing a flickering glance to Miagnik before returning her book and the rapidly filling scroll she was using to scratch notes.
"Well that could work, excepting for the fact that even the most basic magics of binding are categorically more potent than any spell I have ever fathomed casting on my own. If Omara is capable of casting bindings like this unaided then she could have completed her grab for power much faster than this, it makes me think that this is a ritual that was either already here or drawn by Omara to be charged with this places mystic energy. Such spells and rituals take a long time to achieve the effects they grant, I suppose I could try to replicate or modify the ritual but that is only going to work in certain circumstances. Rituals are tricky work and i'll need to find out precisely what I am dealing with before changing it lest i cause a cascading backflow of magic jamming the primary thaumaturgic channeling coeff-." Stephanie rattles off as she work, pausing to concentrate for a second on rewording.
"Let me rephrase. Rituals are highly complex mystic machinery like a tower clock or a vault door. Magic rituals just have a much higher chance or exploding or turning you into a sheep if you mess them up."

Female Gnome (Dwarf/goblin half blood) Wizard/5, HP 26/26 (2 NL), AC 12 (T-12, FF-11), Fort +0 Ref +4 Will +4 ---- Init. +6, Perc. +2

Whiskey barrel is very likely quite grumpy right now.
There is kind of a big stone door between us and him right now. I wonder what one fiendishly smart owl can do in that room while we are all over here.

I'm thinking we are going to need to progress to the next room and deal with the next demon. I'm really not excited to deal with that honestly, evil outsiders are nasty critters for their CR.

Were there some easy method for us to get back there I'd say we should grab some of the hacked up giants to use as tribute.
Its hard to advocate fighting demons in a place like this when there is so much more to still deal with.
Which is honestly kind of sad with the amount of work we did to make sure we all had weapons that could deal with a demon under the assumption we would be fighting them.

I don't know what sort of demon is over there though so I can't make any pitches for plans at this point.

Female Gnome (Dwarf/goblin half blood) Wizard/5, HP 26/26 (2 NL), AC 12 (T-12, FF-11), Fort +0 Ref +4 Will +4 ---- Init. +6, Perc. +2

A flash of fear passes Stephanie's face as Hallister speaks in his quiet manner. "Hallister! She'd never do that!"
Stephanie denies as she looks with worry between her sister and the demon.
"A-at least she'd never do so intentionally. After all Mae, you are perfect as you are. Right?" You are my sister after all
With that the gnome glances down at the binding runes and quickly starts scrutinizing them. Definitely not concerned about Maelodahk's response to her statement. Nope.
"Anyway! I'm going to see if there isn't something I can learn from this anyway. I have sources that might be illuminating when it comes to binding circles." The little noble states ominously as she puts down her pack and begins rooting through it, snapping a rather grim looking book open to several pages decked in runes. Tilting the object so its contents are not visible to the demon in front of her.
It would do no one any good to have an unkillable being gain the knowledge that the Eye is no longer a myth after all.

In the deepest corner of her backpack Stephaine still has the Books she received from our encounter with the eye. Much of it is treatises on darker magics but there is also much information on how the Eye was bound. It stands to reason that binding circles of that that potency are going to share common traits regardless of the creature it is designed to hold. Learning the Demon's true name would be useful (If only for insurance once the campaign ends.) More importantly would be getting a better idea to how this construction is made. It would be nice to know if succeeding in breaking it will just cause it to blow up or not. Nice as this particular Demon is being Stephanie has no reason to believe her statements even if lying would give the creature no discernible benefit.

Stephanie winced as the sphere hit, looking away from the hiss of acid only to be greeted by eyes of something obviously not a mortal. She shivered once as the creature gave it her full attention.
What had mother said? To treat them with respect but understand their nature. One does not dine with an asp for it is their nature to bite as the scorpion does sting.
the pacing, the veiled threats. What does this looks like to you Stephaine?
After the creatures speech Stephanie nods and makes a point to ensure eye contact with the creature before speaking.
" The actions I took were not meant as insult Luelleschia, but it is the folly of many to not take the time to understand what it is they do. I apologizes for my act to reveal you but it is readily apparent that your words were made in falsehood as well. I had to ensure my allies were not walking into a trap."
With that she looks to the trapped being bindings and back to her companions. A predator in a trap, with ones it called prey drawing in one its wounded body is what I see here.
" I once asked my mother about demons, a particularly frightening dream had pushed me to such dark questions. She informed me that all outsiders were beings to be treated with respect and caution. Mortals fear them because to such creatures we are prey, souls to be shucked of our mortal coil. However to fear them for that is the same as blaming the asp or the scorpion for when it stings. It is their nature after all."
The little gnome seems obviously uncomfortable but seems to steel herself anyway.
" To be imprisoned is a cruelty regardless of the creature but you must understand that giving you freedom would bring us into conflict again. This company is comprised of great warriors and potent sages to solve a greater threat. Freeing you would inevitably mean you as your nature encourages and harm or corrupt the mortals of this place. We would inevitably feel responsible for this.
Can you truthfully say that your rage would be sated in slaying the one who bound you here?"

With that the noble gives the creature in front of her a sad smile.
" While I cannot offer free reign of the material plane to you I feel that I might be able to give another option. If you were summoned here with arcane prowess then eventually that power will expire. However the ritual remains active until such that the creature summoned and bound agrees to the terms such a ritual imposes, that or the casters magic expires. Would you be willing to complete it if the terms were to the effect of you being permitted to enact vengeance on Omara, then immediately leave the material plane?" The spell caster asks in a questioning manner to leave no interpretation that at this current moment she was looking to complete the effect, if it was even there.

Stephanie is suggesting this last portion based on the idea that this creature was summoned here with an effect similar to Planar binding, that has the creature return home after whatever action the summoner had them do is complete. The idea being that Omara must have summoned this demon and been unable to press it into service. Subverting that process and having it submit to another spellcaster is slightly outside the bounds of the rules of the spell but thematically cool and gives Stephanie an option to approach this diplomatically.

Secondly looking at the circle is there anything Stephanie can glean from it? The circle would be aligned to the sort of creature that is trapped in the circle and if Omara knew it might even have the creature true name written in it.

I'll be sure to utilize the map.

Heh. figured it was too convenient.

Though I get the feeling our group is going to take that "Can't kill me, Can't kill you" thing as a challenge rather than a fact.
We did purchase weapons with the sole intention of fighting demons after all.

I'm going to try the diplomatic option, which I can only assume will be immediately veto'd by Hallister, Maignik and Windel. However presenting this as an option would be something Stephanie would do.

Stephaines mother being a rather potent witch I can't imagine she has a traditional outlook on demons.

Female Gnome (Dwarf/goblin half blood) Wizard/5, HP 26/26 (2 NL), AC 12 (T-12, FF-11), Fort +0 Ref +4 Will +4 ---- Init. +6, Perc. +2

Stephanie who had been until that moment contemplating the room seemed to have a flash of genius.
"Ronwig, please don't. " She requests quietly to her companion.
"I think I've grasped the trick to this room." With that the little gnome quietly turns to address the dwarf beyond the mystic circle
"I hope I don't turn out to be wrong. However magic circles don't work on mortals, and this prison has far too much effort put into it to cage someone like us. Also king heelggod warned us of guardian demons down here."
Stephanie turns to her companions and then to the dwarf caged across from them.
" If I am wrong in my assumption I hope you will forgive me."
the little noble then snaps off a few arcane syllables and shoots a sphere of emerald acid at the dwarf, careful to aim for a part of the room and the dwarf herself that could not be directed into part of the mystic circle around the room.
Stephanie intends to fire an Acid splash cantrip at the dwarf. one of her hands preferably. or some other portion of exposed skin that would be hard to immediately hide from us and bluff pain while not actually having taken any damage.
Orb touch attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 241d3 ⇒ 2
Orb confirm?: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Oh thank goodness. Also as Stephanie is next to at least some of you and has made no attempt to cast defensively you all have the option of making an intercepting attack to foil her spell if you someone feels Stephanie has got this situation wrong.

Ah, fair point. Stephaine was waiting for Whiskey Barrel to get back from asking king Heelggod about the door.

I think for the sake of expedience I have another solution though. We could have Stephanie just react on seeing everyone else leaving and use her Wizard school ability to teleport through the rapidly shrinking entrance of the big steel door.

Might not be the smartest decision but I can't see the little gnome princess being alright with getting left behind.

From what I understand Stephaine is standing at the big door with various symbols around it and Ronwig/Windel/Hallister/Miagnik have moved into the first room and closed it? Ignore this post if that isn't the case.

Stephaine jumps, torn from her fugue, as the great door slams.
"I.. ah. What?" The gnome asks as she looks around the room and takes in the absent members, frowning.
"They left me behind?" The gnome asks mostly to herself as she looks at the now closed door.

"Not just goblin but much more complex, I see fragments of the 'Lae' 'Aeh' and 'Vah' syllables in this construction, It looks as though these symbols represent entire sentences or ideas in single constructs. They are vastly more complex than any writing structure I've seen in the modern equivalents. It seems close to the method I was taught for condensing spell channeling concepts down to manageable size with mnemonics. Just with this it is taught as language rather than a funnel for an expression of the universe. Interesting, very interesting." Stephanie rambled after sending her bird off. Off in her own little world of words and theory doodling rapid associations of more modern words from a half dozen languages that seemed to look close to what this was.
"No, no thats not right. All that says is "Fish-squid-potato." The gnome mutters as she flips to a different page and begins anew.

The great steel door

Stephaine, on seeing the all clear had been given walks over to the great steel construction and looks it over. "Such craftsmanship, I've only ever seen such skill in the capital. What could be sequestered behind this door?" The gnome wonders aloud as she looks at the various symbols on the door.
K:history: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
"I'm somewhat surprised you don't know what this is Mae. With where we are I'd make the guess that this is an older form of goblin or whatever language our language came from. Many modern languages are made of older ones with additions or removals after all." Stephanie bubbles talking out a small parchment and beginning to make sketches and rubbings of the ancient goblin symbols.
Mistress, if someone goes to all the trouble of closing a door this big why are you trying to open it? I remember sticking my head into a stump that squeaked once. Instead of delicious mouse flesh there was only stab-y needles." Whiskey hoots intently looking at the door and back to the exuberant half-blood
"Open it? Well... I wouldn't even know where to start. Huh. You know that brings an idea to mind. Come over here for a moment whiskey." Stephaine quickly brings a spectral torch into existence and begins to write.
"I'm writing a small letter to Chief Heelggod, I'm not sure what these sigils are or their importance to this place but I know someone here who might. We need to keep pressing forward but I can send whiskey with a note, and if we can't ascertain what this all means with the context this place has given us Whiskey can tell me when he gets back." The gnome explains as she writes, sketching several basic looking drawings to indicate the door and how it is oriented along with the symbols both on the door and separate."

So there is no way that Stephaine can actually make this DC. her ranks in K:History equal out to a +9 modifier, however her racial ability (gift of tongues) gives her an unnatural grasp of languages. would it be possible for Stephaine to try and decode the images on the door by applying this knowledge?

Stephaine looks at Hal for half a second before looking down at the floor and casting a spell. The magic rapidly removing the crusted blood and filth from all in the room. It leaves a lemon scent in its wake.
"Dirty.. Messy, messy..."
The princess mutters under her breath as she continues to clear the stains.

Unless you decide to stop her Stephaine will be doing the same to everyone involved in taking the giants apart.

With the room being marginally acceptable stephaine follows the rest with no complaints.
"Lets just be careful, from here on out we will be facing new dangers." The little gnome examines where Ronwig steps carefully before doing her best to follow his path.

sticking with the usual plan of letting Ronwig do his scouting with us all behind.

Stephaine who had been concentrating on not vomiting blinks owlishly and looks at the slaughter house on Halister's clothes.
"Umm.." The gnome pauses seeming to strain to remember precisely what Halister had just said due to her lack of concentration.
"Yes?" The little princess half asks, half answers.

Stephanie stays to the back of the room with a rapibly paling complection as she looks on at the disgusting work in front of her. Unable to turn away from the carnage yet still deeply disturbed by the idea of dismemebering a corpse, even an enemy.
"I hope desperately that we can end this. I'd -Urp- very much like to never have to see something like this again. Oh ancestors below that is foul." the little gnome whines, managing to hold in her most recent meal and snapping a cantrip to clear the air around her.

I don't really have anything that could help here. Well unless you want me to summon some rocks and pulverize the giants rather than let you get on with it. though that burns yet more of my spells.

Well someone has to dismember those giants before the Vampire queens curse causes them to rise form the dead and try to kill us.
Though that will mean we likely need to clear this floor entirely for that to work.
I have plenty of combat spells left, so I can at least contribute

Also there is the chance that more Giants will arrive while we are clearing things out. We have no idea how many more are coming to this place.

That monster supply pack is great. A shame Stephanie has a 7 STR and is going to have to butcher that thing to keep stuff useful for her.

Stephanie released the breath she had not even noticed she was holding during the battle. The young one giving a wan smile to her allies as she sees them all alive.
"That. Th-That was terrifying. I agree with Hallister, next time could we avoid charging into the teeth of a battle like that?" The halfblooded princess responds as she wipes a sleeve to her face. The little gnomes gaze jumping to most of her compatriots but lingering on Mae and Arthalessa.
"I don't know what I'd do were one of you to die from this all. As to your battle plans Hallister in case of future battles we want to avoid I've been studying up on the nature of illusory figments. While they are unlikely to help a great deal in actual battle I could use such things to provide distractions to move avoid battles we are not in position to win quickly."

Ex: Fake wall to let patrols pass us by or other such capacity crap. Ghost sound to make people go look somewhere else than we are. Simple crap like that.

I was waiting on Miagnik in the hope he could hammer the giant for the last few hit points. That way Mae gets to go hit the actually healthy giant and not get an AOO for the pleasure. But then I realized Miagnik already declared his action for the round. So lets have Stephanie cast Magic missile instead.

Stephaine's face freezes into shock as she sees Atharessa charge. She chokes back a scream when the woman is struck. I.. I need to help somehow? I've used most of my immediately useful spells. Most of my other combat abilities are too wide or too specific for this juncture. Oh why couldn't I have listened to Aunt Grelod and just studied evocation.

Mistress. You should shoot them with your glowy lights. they might do something. That or make the mouse thief smell like Bacon, the giant would come over and try to eat him instead Stephaine frowns slightly and nods to the bird "Well you do have a whiskey, action is better than nothing. But I don't think the giant would try to eat him just because he smelt like bacon."
With that the gnome snaps off a quick spell and sends three glowing orbs zipping to the downed giant.

I'm hoping you guys can handle the last one without me dropping more spells. Its only the first in a long series of encounters after all. However if Mae doesn't manage to hit the prone giant then I can free her on my turn with Magic Missile.

I'd argue that it is more the fiddly legacy bits of pathfinder being odd again.
I only knew that part because I had a fellow player who would use the concealment rules to move his Bard about the battlefield without getting pasted at L8.

As Maignik says you are doing just fine.

Stephaine seeing that the rest of her allies had brought one target low and were in the process with the other two seems to wait. Somewhat conflicted as she watches the remaining Giants carefully.

Stephaine will delay, as she has few spells she can cast at this point that will both help and leave here with a decent number of options for the next monster. She isn't terribly happy to leave the job to others but knows she can be more useful if she waits.

I think you are good to maneuver around the blinded giant without worrying over acrobatics.

You have total concealment against a blinded target. They can't see you.

------------

Total Concealment

If you have line of effect to a target but not line of sight, he is considered to have total concealment from you. You can't attack an opponent that has total concealment, though you can attack into a square that you think he occupies. A successful attack into a square occupied by an enemy with total concealment has a 50% miss chance (instead of the normal 20% miss chance for an opponent with concealment).

You can't execute an attack of opportunity against an opponent with total concealment, even if you know what square or squares the opponent occupies.

As stephaine watches the melee she sees the giant swing at Hallister and winces as the blows land. The giants had been landing strikes left and right, the little gnome feeling queasy as the combat raged.
"Mistress. You should let me do it Mistress."
The gnomes face warping somewhat from her uncomfortable frown to a concerned one
"No Whiskey if I do that you'd be in danger. One swing of that giants club would turn you into paste."

The gnome moves forward and casts another spell muttering dwarven words as she does.

Casting Grease at squares G/F 1/2. Reflex DC15 for both giants or fall over. Blind giant Yellow will have a fun time with that when he is already denied his dexterity.
