Thanks for the feedback Ripe. I guess I really need to read the FAQ for the game :)

Really enjoying the production of your videos. I think I like the others dice method rather than the tower; it shows up better on the screen.

The maggot swarm has a FAQ entry/errata:

When I encounter a Giant Maggot Swarm in a location deck, do I have to summon and encounter a second one?

Nope.

Resolution: On the monster Giant Maggot Swarm, change "each character at your location" to "each other character at your location".

Thanks for the feedback! Good to know that Giant Maggot Swarm isn't as difficult as it seemed. I've just recorded next week's video and had the dice tower again but I may ditch it if the feedback continues to be that people prefer the iPad.

The next episode in my Pathfinder Adventure Card Game: Wrath of the Righteous Let's Play series on YouTube is up! This week Enora, Imrijka, and Seelah take on Ulkreths during The Fall of Kenabres. The demonic horde rears its ugly head, worm demons are around every corner, and one of the most challenging foes is a giant maggot swarm?

Ep 5 of my Pathfinder Adventure Card Game: Wrath of the Righteous let's play series on YouTube is up. The scenario is the last in the base adventure, Vengeance at Sundered Crag. It took me many attempts to get through this successfully and even required a roster change. Shardra is out and Seelah is in.

There aren't any B boons (except Silver Raven and Fiery Glare) that are arguably good enough to put a monster back into play to begin with - especially not the Wights.
We put the wights back in whenever we could, and we didn't care whether the boon was good or not. It seemed just generally good sense to shuffle henchmen back into the location decks when possible. More henchmen in the decks means more opportunity to close them down that much quicker.

That is a very good point Ron. I hadn't considered that strategy but it seems like a solid one.

I love the Deathbane Light Crossbow. I picked that up with Harsk in like the first or second scenario and it is still my goto weapon in Adventure 4.

Ripe wrote:
Too bad you forgot about Scenario rule... far as I can remember, every Henchman in the scenario was Undead and since trigger was "non-villain bane" you "cheated" yourself out of 4 cards at minimum. Possibly even more since there were another Undead or two you faced...

yes, it is possible I could have gotten a couple improved boons but it would have required increasing the overall difficulty of the scenario to keep them. Given the reward text I could replay the scenario. I probably won't because I don't really have the time to do it and get the final scenario recorded/edited.

Thanks for the kind words MagnificientMagpie! Glad you are enjoying the content.

BTW wish I could shuffle my decks like that in real life ;)

Thanks Klandestine! WotR is definitely hard, you fight a lot more henchmen than the other two sets. Yeah Tabletop Simulators shuffling makes all the tiny deck shuffles so easy compared to real life.

There are some undeads, but they're not as common as demons, so Mental isn't completely bad.

Cool! Thanks for posting this. I actually picked up a fair number of spells so I'll go through and see what I can replace.

I just realized that your ship got wrecked during the scenario, which you didn't address in any way other then banishing plunder card.

I can't remember which ship you used for the scenario and what it's penalty is, but all of them add some form of penalty when they're wrecked. A penalty that might force a change in the way scenario is played...

The ship was Man's Promise. All it says when wrecked is that other characters can't move with you. But thanks for pointing it out because I was figuring there must be some other issue with a wrecked ship. Others definitely have negative effects. That Hirgenzosk is a real pain and it is in the scenario I'm recording tonight too.

Ripe wrote:

Here is a few points:

- Ranzak CAN'T take Cure back because of a spell Jirelle acquired during scenario and he CAN'T take Noxious Bomb back because of Thieves Tools he acquired. At the end of scenario you can only take cards from box to reset your deck if there is not enough cards of that type between all the players decks and plunder cards... which is not the case here.

Huh, I hadn't realized that. I just read the between sessions section of the rules and it does indeed state that. I will play that way from now on.

Ripe wrote:

- Besmara's Tricorn add 1d8 to any Constitution, Fortitude, Wisdom or Survival check while you're on the ship... and it can be used for other players checks. You forgot about it and used a blessing on few of those "before you act" checks with Villains Lirianne did to add to add just another d6! And speaking of Besmara's Tricorn, Jirelle might be a better choice to have it since none of her dies are better then what Tricorn add, unlike Lirianne and Ranzak.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will look at switching it to Jirelle.

Ripe wrote:

- Treasure Hunt say "each character may attempt a check to defeat this barrier" which would imply that you can do it even if you're not at the same location as character who originally encounter it

This is probably correct but thematically it seems odd. Still I'll bear it in mind for this and other barriers with that wording.

Ripe wrote:

On a side note, you should have used a blessing to acquire that Pearl of Wisdom with Jirelle... you give it to Lirianne and roll a d12 on any non-combat check with her. And getting similar items for Ranzak [Constitution] and Jirelle [Dexterity] would be nice.

Another good tip. Thanks.

Ripe wrote:

Also, I noticed that you forgot to reset your hand on a few occasions...

Yes I noticed this while editing but as I'd already played the scenario 3 times and had not enough time to redo it I just left it.

Breaking into the double digits with episode 10 of my Pathfinder Adventure Card Game: Skull & Shackles - Plugg's Uglies. Jirelle, Ranzak, and Lirianne have had enough of Mister Plugg and his thugs. They lead a mutiny to take over the Man's Promise!

It's this:

1. Each character makes the check.
-Did you (the character currently making the check) fail? If so, take 1+AD combat damage.

2. Resolve the encounter.
-Did at least one character succeed? If so, you (the character who started the encounter) defeat the BB. Otherwise it's undefeated.

Thanks for the clarification. I'll play it that way in the future.

Sandslice wrote:

A Lirianne tip: when your hand is stuck like that, look for chances to use her power "you may shuffle a card into your deck to add 1d4 to a combat check at another location." That will help cycle her hand and get her into more explores, without actually losing the resources. Jirelle's double henchman encounter is a perfect moment for that.

Also, dragon pistols can be discarded to add to others' combat checks at your location, if need be. :)

And on that last play, you don't discard the Capuchin. You reveal it and discard something else which means you still have it to discard (say, your crossbow) to use it against the Queen.

Yeah I've had a couple games where the characters were stuck with hands that weren't changing. Adding to a combat check even if it isn't strictly needed would be a good way for her to pick up other cards. Good call about the dragon pistol, especially in that situation where I had 2 of them on the table. I'll keep that in mind for the Capuchin, I need to review the loot and cards they gained to set up for next time. Not sure the Capuchin will stay yet.

Thanks for your feedback!

Ripe wrote:

A few easy to miss rules:

- if you don't have a skill listed on a check you can still roll a d4 on a check requiring it. So with Ranzak you can choose to use Divine skill to acquire a blessing and roll 2d4 needing to get a 5 to succeed making it an easier check then some you tried to make during scenario...

- if your ship is anchored at a location, all characters start scenario at that location

Also, I'm not sure you played Barroom Brawl correctly... card state that every character at location encounter it and anyone who don't defeat it take damage. Which would imply that all characters need to make a check, regardless of whether someone succeeded or not.

Ah yes the base d4, I generally don't think of that. I didn't know about the anchored ruling but that makes sense. I haven't looked up the official ruling on Barroom Brawl but there is definitely text that says if any character defeats it then it is defeated. I view it this way: if someone defeats it the brawl is ended by that character and there is no longer a brawl going on.

Thanks for your feedback!

Hey folks,

Tomorrow, May 7th, is my 45th birthday and I'm doing a 24 hour gaming marathon on my Twitch channel to raise money for Child's Play charity to provide games, toys, and books for kids in hospital. I'll be streaming and recording the 8th episode of my Pathfinder Adventure Card Game Skull & Shackles series at 7pm EST. I hope you can all stop by and watch, offer feedback, and most importantly donate to this great cause!

The stream starts at 9am EST on May 7th. I'll be playing a variety of games including Hearthstone, LA Noire, GTA V, Broken Age, Sherlock Holmes, and of course Pathfinder Adventure Card Game: Skull & Shackles on Tabletop Simulator.

If you can donate, any amount, that would be great. All the proceeds go directly to Child's Play. Or just stop by, say hello, and offer encouragement as I plow through 24 hours of games!

Just a few observations:

- Jirelle's structure damage reduction work as long as she is in a party [doesn't matter if she is on ship or not]
- Ranzak always get a d4 to acquire a boon [which work great considering he also get to roll a d6 to see if he can explore again if he acquired a boon]
- Ranzak can also evade ANY bane [including Villains and Henchman] and send them to another random character at his location
- why you kept using Cutlass with Jirelle when she had Cat-o-Nine-Tails which is far superior weapon [even Rapiers are better then Cutlass]? With Cutlass you get a d10+d6+3 which give you a spread of 5-19 [average 12], while Cat give you d10+3d4+3 and a spread of 7-25 [average 16]. Also, because they're both Swashbuckling weapons, you can ALWAYS re-roll one die when you use them giving you an even higher average with Cat...
- don't forget that most Allies give you Swashbuckling trait on non-combat checks when used to explore again, so if they're used with Jirelle, you can reroll one die when facing Barriers or trying to acquire a boon!

Thanks for the thorough and excellent feedback. I realized during editing that I had forgotten Ranzak's d4 for boons. I hadn't forgotten his ability to evade, it just hadn't seemed like it was necessary. You make a very good point about the Cutlass vs Cat-o-Nine-Tails. Carrying the swashbuckling trait through to barriers/boons was not something I had considered. I definitely appreciate you pointing these things out. It is quite difficult to keep all this stuff in your head when you are recording/narrating it, at least I find it is. My goal is to improve in each video and your feedback will help me to do that.

Hey Zeroth thanks for the reply. I have considered OCTGN, right around the time when loading all my hi-res scanned cards in crashed Tabletop Simulator multiple times. But I'd already spent a considerable amount of time getting the cards in the format needed for TS so I decided to downscale them instead. I'm hopeful that since it is in early access that TS will improve its memory usage in time for me adding adventure decks. If not it will most likely become a question of pairing things down before each scenario so I don't have to load entire box contents. I'd still like to spend some time with OCTGN to see what it can do but it looked a bit more complicated for getting resources into.
