Now that is good to know. Guess I won't step down from that rule then. I myself don't like to exploit the rules, or, for that matter, go that deep into them myself. I like to dm and usually I have a good feeling for adjusting the battles in difficulty. Up until now, only once did someone die because I went to far, and that was another campaign. :PExcerpt from Last session, maybe lkittle spoiler?:
they ran into that room full of shadows at the end, 2 of 4 died and 1 almost died as well until they even thought of running away. Saying they can't escape. I mentiond none of their characters knows that because no one made a check, but nonetheless. Now there's two more ghosts. Thanks a lot for your help.
Ah I asked some more and apparently I misunderstodd my playxer a bit (which was his fault for the way he described it, though xD)
Hey, thanks for your answers.
Also, I re-read the question by my player. Apparently he wanted to know wether we can houserule it to be a free instead of a swift action.
Good advice, but I think I need to specify further.

Am I missing something with that?
So, I run a game where I've been asked this: If my rogue drops his small crossbow, which is attached to my belt with a string/rope, can I pick it up as a free action with quick draw? I couldn't find an appropiate answer.
Hope you can help me. :)
Thanks for the additional input. What I did not mention, we already started the AP.
I'll hide what he did in a spoiler. Just to explain, he is the most experienced player at the table and usually makes more "crazy" characters that may have a mishap of getting killed or rather locked away. Anyway... Spoiler:
He felt the urgend need to take several "samples" of both the minor runewell and the altar of Lamashtu and drink them all at once out in the woods, hoping to get stronger from mutating/offering himself to Lamashtu.
Of course I warned him in advance as I personally play in a way that my players can die, but it is either combat (see minor drawback) or if they are okay with it. (Minor drawback here, being okay with it means making a deal with death (me) himself, buying himself back into life at a cost) I warned him that drinking that stuff will not necessarily kill him, but most certainly render his character unplayable. He was fine with it, mostly out of curiosity I guess... ^^ Thus, the party is just about to leave for thistletop.
Deverin wouldn't be that much of a problem actually, yeah, but as they are kind of the "good guys", probably not that fitting. I take it, that the Scarnetti aren't involved in the story of the following books?
Thanks a lot for your quick answer. :D
So, the following issue arose to me: One of my players wants to play some sort of mafia kingpin, trying to bring order to "his" town, which might be with drastic actions.
As I like the idea, I wanted to put him into one of the noble families.
I read Burnt Offering so far, so I assume that Kaijitsu might not be the best choice :P (although not out-ruled).
Which leaves me with House Scarnetti and House Valdemar.
Thanks in advance for your answers. :) |
