Made 2 changes to the character both for the reason that I wanted to explore why Srelenon is a V'ekeshi Mystic and how he feels about that.

1. Changed Lore(Eladrin Noble Families) to Lore(V'ekeshi Mysticism)
2. Added a bunch to his back story flushing out his past a bit.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
When Corynne entered the room Srelenon was simply sitting back enjoying the effects of the alcohol in his system. He had developed a fondness for all the different colors of the bottles behind the bar. At that moment he had actually been wondering what was in the purple bottle at the left end of the bar. He had never seen anyone drink from it...

His thoughts were interrupted by Azaghâl:

Azaghâl Flintbreaker wrote:
"That one is...different."

and Alice:

Alice Kildare wrote:
"Another girl came in, big guy, time to shine."

No need Alice.. I think you might like me a little more than you realize...

Srelenon looked over to where Alice was headed and seeing Corynne the young Eladrin quickly shook off some of the effects of the Alcohol.

He answered Azaghâl's observation in a tone meant to not carry beyond those at the bar.

Corynne... She's got a reputation around the RHC. I guess some of the agents started calling her "Spook", when she wasn't around. Saxsby got word of that and shut it down right quick.

I read one of her reports one time... A body had washed up on the beach. Fish had been at it and there was virtually no evidence. Well Corynne heads off on a twenty minute hike in a random direction and heads straight for the murder scene. Apparently there was enough evidence at the murder scene to find the killer. But according to the report... Corynne had followed the ghost of the murder victim to where they had been killed. Can you imagine that?... seeing dead people.

Hope you don't mind Corynne, but Corynne seemed to be the type that people would talk about behind her back.

Srelenon looks down at his drink and takes a deep breath... With a grimace on his face he raises the Ale and downs the drink in one go!!! He puts down the now empty mug with a grimace...

I feel like I need a knife and fork to drink that stuff... I need a real drink. Bar-keep do you have any more of that 470 around? One for me and each of my comrades in arms here.

The Man behind the bar pulls down an old bottle that's mostly empty and fills a shot glass for each of the members of the RHC with the golden-amber liquid. The young Eladrin gets a big smile on his face and picks up his glass looking at the other constables at the bar.

Nothing like a 30 year old single malt...Here's too the future... whatever it may bring... because the previous generations screwed up the past!

Srelenon downs the drink in a single gulp and shakes his head as he slams the shot glass on the counter. His eyes are watering as he coughs more than says: Smooth!!!

I think that Srelenon is pretty much done although I am reserving the right to expand on his background.

Special Qualities
Rage (Ex): A barbarian can call upon inner reserves of strength and ferocity, granting her additional combat prowess. Starting at 1st level, a barbarian can rage for a number of rounds per day equal to 4 + her Constitution modifier. At each level after 1st, she can rage for 2 additional rounds. Temporary increases to Constitution, such as those gained from rage and spells like bear's endurance, do not increase the total number of rounds that a barbarian can rage per day. A barbarian can enter rage as a free action. The total number of rounds of rage per day is renewed after resting for 8 hours, although these hours do not need to be consecutive.

While in rage, a barbarian gains a +4 morale bonus to her Strength and Constitution, a +2 bonus to attack with ranged weapons, as well as a +2 morale bonus on Will saves. In addition, she takes a –2 penalty to Armor Class. The increase to Constitution grants the barbarian 2 hit points per Hit Dice, but these disappear when the rage ends and are not lost first like temporary hit points. While in rage, a barbarian cannot use any Charisma-, Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills (except Acrobatics, Fly, Intimidate, and Ride) or any ability that requires patience or concentration.

A barbarian can end her rage as a free action and is fatigued after rage for a number of rounds equal to 2 times the number of rounds spent in the rage. A barbarian cannot enter a new rage while fatigued or exhausted but can otherwise enter rage multiple times during a single encounter or combat. If a barbarian falls unconscious, her rage immediately ends, placing her in peril of death.

Feats
Hands of Retribution (Theme Feat): Once per combat, anytime an ally within 20 ft. is damaged by an enemy attack you may use this ability as an immediate action to deal damage equal to 2 + half your level to the enemy who made the attack. This damage is half fire and half holy. For every 4 levels you possess, you may use this ability once more per combat, to a maximum of 6 times per combat at 20th level. If you choose Vekeshi Mystic as your character’s theme, the party’s Prestige with the Unseen Court starts at 2 instead of 1. See “Prestige,” page 17. Special: You can acquire only one theme feat.

Bludgeoner:You take no penalty on attack rolls for using a lethal bludgeoning weapon to deal nonlethal damage.

Exceptional Pull: When you wield a ranged weapon that you are proficient with and that has a strength rating, add 2 to the weapon's strength rating. You don't take a penalty on attack rolls for having a Strength modifier lower than the strength rating of a weapon, provided you're proficient with that weapon.

Point Blank Shot: You get a +1 bonus on attack and damage rolls with ranged weapons at ranges of up to 30 feet.

personality:

As an ESTP Srelenon is very out going and chafes at rules and structure. He would rather act then think about the consequences of his actions.

Having spent his entire life only around male Eladrin Srelenon has a tendency to be over eager with girls.

Srelenon was not alive for the great malice and as such doesn't have the same sense of personal loss that many other Eladrin tend to have. He can't tell you how many times he has heard older members of his species pining over and talking about their lost sisters, wives, and mothers. At this point in his life he has little patience for it... Especially since he was never even able to meet his own mother or sisters. In his way of thinking his loss is greater because at least they met and had relationships with the women in their lives.

short back-story:

Srelenon's father was not what one would call a "Good Person". He was a powerful person who had dedicated himself to bringing back his people from the brink of destruction at ANY COST. He kept his wife and daughters cloistered away from the rest of the world including from his own sons. Srelenon knew very little about his mother or how she survived the Great Malice but he did know that he wasn't allowed to ask questions about her.

Being the fourteenth child and not a girl Srelenon was always viewed as extraneous by his father and that view point was never kept hidden from him. As such the first time he received a chance to leave home he didn't look back. This means that even having spent a year or two in Flint he would be roughly 120 years old (equivalent to a 16 year old human).

Srelenon has come to Risur seeking a place for himself in the world that is very far away from what he views as the corrupting touch of his father. He received a letter of introduction from one of his Fathers vassals, a respected warrior from the old days and has managed to find work for himself in the RHC.

Letter of Introduction:

Cousin Kaea,
I'm glad to hear of your success in Risur and especially in the
Constabulatory there. You were always one who was willing to take risks and cared more about doing what is right then being popular. All is well in the village you left behind so many years behind and your nephew sends his warmest regards.

The purpose of this note however is to introduce you to the Young Eladrin who has delivered this message, Srelenon Moonfall. Yes he is a Moonfall but do not worry cousin, he is nothing like his father. He seems to show a genuine interest in the well being of others, even if he has a bit of a temper and acts erratically at times. Ah the banalaties of youth.

The lad is skilled with bow, spear, and sword, and can climb a tree better than you or I at that age. But then again we were never the types for physical action when a simple spell would do. Given time and proper supervision I believe that this young Elladrin could amount to much.

I know it is not lost on you cousin how few of these youths there are now. He has never known the same losses that we have and is often impatient with the older generation. The sad reality though is that we will die off. When that happens it is those like this young Eladrin that will carry on our legacy. I believe there to be no better teacher for him than you cousin.

I heartily request that you would take him under your wing and find him an apointment with the constabulatory there. I am sure that it is within your power, and would hope you would do this as a personal favor to me.

The Zeitgeist Players' Guide doesn't seem to list languages for Eladrin.

1.Is it safe to assume all Eladrin begin play speaking Elven and Common?

2. What would be the bonus languages for high intelligence be. I assume Primordial and Sylvan, but any others?

The young Eladrin finds himself warming upto the Dwarf for some reason he can't quite put his finger on. Srelenon looks at the barkeep and asks him to refill the dwarves mug and one of the same for himself. He thinks for a moment looking at the long row of different colored bottles behind the bar.

"War is fire and death... Is not for admiring..." But... I feel most alive when I'm fighting. I feel stronger, and more focused than at any other time. I know conflict for conflicts sake isn't a good thing. But isn't their value in being put to the test and making it out the other side. My father always said that the only way to prove your worth was to "Stand firm against the encroachment of our enemies and show them the strength of our resolve". Then again my father was responsible for the lives of Hundreds of vassals.

As the barkeep hands Srelenon a mug he takes a long pull on the liquid and coughs a little. You really drink this stuff?

As Alice pointedly turned away from him and addressed the stranger Srelenon finally understood that he had made her mad.

The young Eladrin hung his head obviously feeling a bit dejected. Three strikes against him in a single day.

He looked at the dwarf next to him. and quietly addressed him ...I think I made her mad. What did I do wrong? You know there weren't women around in Elfavair. I never even met a girl till I came to Risur. I don't think I 'll ever understand women. They all just seem to be insane.

OOC Discussion on Moving the story forward:

We are all here to have fun and want to play the game with each other. But if people make posts that don't leave others with something to respond too then the story doesn't move forward. Before you hit "Submit Post" ask yourself... did I leave something in my post that others can interact with and that will move the story forward. This is especially true in this thread since we don't have a GM to spoon feed us plotline.

Examples of good Story hooks from this thread include, Alice's buying pie to share with Huxley, Isabelle staring off into the kitchen with expectance till she finally gets a huge pile of meat that she dives into, Srelenon getting slapped, Azaghal's description of a dwarf with a gun taller than he is, and Alice's Drawing of the knife. You can usually tell it was a good plot hook because other players reference it in their posts.

An easy way to accomplish this is to ask other players questions... it gives them something easy to respond too. But if you are asked a question you should ask one back so that the other player has something to respond too as well. Don't just make passive observations.

My biggest pet peeve on the boards right now are internal monologues with nothing else. Internal Monologues are useful tools. They help the player figure out there characters motivations. Allow other players to be aware of nonverbal cues that your character would be putting out, and on a meta-level let other players know how you hope the scene will continue. In Alice's Last post she used Interior Monologue paired with conversation and physical actions to very good effect. There's a ton of stuff in that post for other players to respond too.

But when someone posts an interior monologue with nothing else they're hurting themselves and the other players. Themselves because they've demoted their character from a part of the story to a passive observer, and other players because they've given them nothing to respond to. WE All want to play with you but it's hard too do if you cut yourself off from the rest of the group by not actually interacting.

I will now get off my soap box and continue roleplaying my character... for better or worse. Man I feel bad for the guy. Girl comes around his head goes to mush.

Srelenon's smile never fades as he listens to her tale. It's clear that he hasn't picked up on her change of mood.

Srelenon, Srelenon Moonfall. Wow. I have to admire your strength in a time of adversity like that. I hope that if the day ever comes where I am put to the test in a manner like that ,I'll be able to rise to the challenge.

This all said with the youthful exuberance of someone who's never seen combat himself but heard the tales told by the troubadour's. For a moment he stares off as If imagining heroics and danger and slaying the dragon. Looks that Alice had most likely seen on many new recruits faces. Then he seems to come back to reality and give Alice a smile again.

What was your name again?

I must admit I was never one for guns. Not many of those in Elfevair. I prefer a weapon where ones physical abilities make a little difference.

As Alice tells her story Srelenon listens intently and laughs when she does. So you were in the Navy? Ever see any action? Nothing a strong girl like you couldn't handle I'm sure.. The question filled with youthful impetuousness. He gives her a little too over eager smile.

Srelenon let out a low steady sigh as he realized that he had no chance at getting her attention now. yeah well maybe we'll get to know each other better.

The young Eladrin looked around the room and really saw the dwarf for the first time.

Addressing Azaghâl I seem to have lost out to a mountain of food. eh? Hey haven't I seen you around the DHc a bit. You help maintain the armory right? Have you seen any field work yet?

The DHC!!! Hey that's where I work. I'm an assistant to one of their crack agents. Kaea, maybe you've heard of him. He's an eladrin like me and he's saved the city a bunch of times. Been teaching me everything he knows too. Says I'm about ready for field work even. Maybe we'll be assigned to the same unit. Wouldn't that be pretty sweet... You and me... working together... in the same unit... every day... you and me...

Srelenon gives the girl a smarmy smile and a roguish look only to realize that she's not even looking at him. Some where along the line he's lost her attention again.

Hey... hey... Isabelle... whatcha lookin at?

As Ellie leans forward to look into the kitchen Srelenon leans back to get a better look at her ... figure. She most likely will not notice but to anyone else in the room it would be blatantly obvious that he is "checking her out". He nods his head in apparent appreciation and tries to strike up the conversation again.

So Isabelle what is it that you... uh Isabelle.. The young Eladrin frowns by her being more focused in the non-present wait staff then him. Here let me go get Louise for you.

He gets up and in two quick bounds and disappears into the Kitchen.

Louise we need some service out here.

A loud crash, the spilling of water and what sounds like a fish being dropped on a table can be heard from the kitchen area. A moment later Srelenon reappears shaking bits of broken pottery and what appears to be some sort of vegetable soup out of his cloak while nursing a red mark on his face that looks reminiscent of a young ladies hand print. He returns to his seat... places his smile back on and addresses Ellie again. She says she'll be right out. So Isabelle, what did you say your profession is again...

Srelenon puts on his most charming smile and pretends to not notice the dirt that is on his hand as he takes it back from the pretty red head sitting next to him.

Isabelle Is such a pretty name. It would be a shame not to use it. If it's okay with you I think I'll call you Isabelle. So Isabelle what do you do to get so dirty?

Srelenon would be the Eladron equivilant of a teenager... and seeing as virtually every woman is dead in his home country... he's going to have a tendency to be a little over forward with the ladies. This is something that can easily be toned down based on other players comfort levels though.

In walked a young Eladrin wearing a travelers cloak over his leather armors. At his side he had a cadre of weapons. He looked around looking perplexed for a minute and then waved at the waitress as she emerged from the kitchen.

Louise, I'm sorry about last night. Constable Kaea made me do a bunch of studying. Apparently us Constables need to know about the city and stuff.

Louise gave the young elf an angry look and then went right back into the kitchen without saying a word.

The young Eladrin walked over to the bar and sat next to "Ellie". Huh... I think she's mad. Srelenon looked over at the soot covered human. Then took a second look. You seem to have some.... er... on your face... er.. never mind... I don't think we've met. Srelenon Moonfall at your service. Srelenon extended his hand to the soot covered human.

Not sure about the class... thinking a ranged attacker of some sort though. These are the three I'm thinking about.

Barbarian (Primal Hunter)... Channeling all the anger into ones bow is a good thing.

or

Ranger (Trapper Falconer)... Bringing some of the traditions taught to him by his fathers Vassal out into the world,

or

Paladin (Holygun with an Oath of Vengeance)... Once in the outer world he picked up the first fancy weapon he could find.
