Spines touches the part of the map to which Omara has pointed. After experiencing that kind of magic for the first time, he is rather amazed. Confusion and wonder fill his head as this new place comes to be around him. "Wow..." he says, unsure how to verbalize his thoughts. He quickly snaps back to the current situation and sees the others running down the stairs and chases after them to catch up.
"You mean the pictures are magic?" Spines asks dumbfoundedly. "Can I see?"
In the middle of trying to start a fire, Spines looks up and notices that everyone is gone. He becomes greatly confused and starts running around trying to find them. He looks outside to see if the went out there, and upon returning, finds them standing right where they had been. "What the hell just happened?!?" Spines shouts at the others. "Where did you go?"
Were the ones who touched the map the only ones effected by the change or were they just the ones that felt it?
Hearing Omara's concerns, Spines takes another quick look around and says, "I don't see any dangers around here. The least we can do is make a fire." Spines then sets his bag down and begins to pull out his bedroll. He turns his head when he hears the work 'reading.' "I am great at reading!" Spines says cheerfully. "Let me see what it says." He grabs the map and looks it over, "Wait! These are just pictures." He gloomily hands the map back over to Omara and returns to the fire pit.
Spines looks at the fire pit and warn rugs. "This looks like a good place to set up and dry off."
Spines catches up to the half-elf and examines the surroundings.
Spines climbs back up to the main floor and shakes off as much water as he can. He turns to the rest of the group and says, "Let's check upstairs to make sure the rest of this place is safe."
Guess I missed that going back through. Thank you for catching that, otherwise i would have been searching down in that sewer for a secret door forever :P
I don't believe there was any mention of stairs
Spines looks around to get a better idea of his surroundings.
"I'm not sure, come down here and check it out for yourself."
Spines triumphantly bangs on his chest, then moves out of the way to allow the rest down through the grate, paying special attention to stomp on the head of his most recent victim. As he starts to calm down, he catches his breath and says to Malthazir, "Thank you. You are doing a good job."
Spines, being too upset with this vile crocodile to acknowledge the given joke, focuses all his power into this one strike.
Spines grabs his Earthbreaker and furiously swings at the reptilian enemy. "You DARE bite at me you puny scum?"
The large hammer misses and causes a giant splash as it hits the water.
Feeling emasculated, Spines takes the lead into the water, eager to regain the respect of his peers.
"Water?" Spines grumbles. I thought I'd get to dry off, but if there's something down there, I'll be the first to go check it out." Spines tries to lift the stone grate, but fails miserably. He starts to become enraged and yells at the top of his lungs.
Smaller dungeons would be easier for the players, while the larger ones would be more challenging. If it's just as easy for you to do either, probably smaller.
Spines steps just inside the entrance far enough to get out of the rain. He reaches into his bag and pulls out a torch to see what lies inside the temple. plus darkvision He lets out a scream to scare out any possible hiding creatures, and let any possible enemies know that their fate was death, but all that comes out is a weak whine.
"Must be getting sick," he says to himself. "Good thing I'm out of the storm now."
Spines will go forward and inspect the building, deeply desiring to get dry.
