Male Duros Soldier 1
Walking down the ramp Soz frowns as he looks up at the metal enclosure sealing them in. He didn't like the idea of the ship being trapped in the case of a double cross, but it appeared he didn't have a choice. With a quick check of his weapons he turns to Laris. "So what's the plan boss?"
Male Duros Soldier 1
Soz scratches his head, trying to remember some fuzzy detail, finally with a shake of his head and a shrug of his shoulders he looks to Laris. "Wouldn't be the first time I've had to deal with an agent of House Reiss. Except for the matter we talked about earlier, I've never had a problem with you. Hell, I owe you for helping me back on Rhudor, so I'll help you for my normal job fee."

Soz reaches in to his bandoleer and pulls out the blue box. Holding it out to Laris. As she reaches it he doesn't let go right away, instead he steps in a little closer and whispers to her. "I still want to know who you are delivering the synthene to." Having said his peace, he releases the box and turns toward the show.

Satisfied that there is nothing dangerous about the locket, Soz closes the box and places it in one of the pouches of his bandoleer. Without looking behind him, Soz exits the building and begins heading to the rendezvous point with Maeris. He moves with purposeful quickening strides so that Cinder won't have to be out in the open for too long. Whenever possible he chooses paths under awnings using his dangerous appearance to scatter any crowds that may slow them down.

Soz deftly catches the small blue box. Without a word, he watches as the stranger leaves the shop. Reaching down for his comlink to notify the captain and Maeris about the stranger he notices the message from Ulula. Shaking his head, he calls out. "Ulula, Cinder? Its safe now, that man is gone. Did you find the parts you needed?

Soz begins to grow impatient. He figured Ulula and Cinder would have the parts by now and he could be on his way. Figuring the two tech heads were probably sidetracked by some rare tech piece they probably stumbled upon, he decided to step in to the shop if only to politely urge them to hurry up. There was also something dangerous about the two men who entered the shop earlier. Opening the door, he stepped inside, his eyes slowly adjusting to the difference in ambient light.

Soz looked around the junk shop. Nothing here looked all that impressive to his untrained eyes, still he hoped Ulula and Cinder could find what they needed here. Being away from the ship was helping calm his mind a bit, but he was still worried about the synthene shipment. Finally, he felt he'd put things off long enough. "Hey Ulula, I'm going to look around outside a bit while you two finish up in here." Stepping back outside his eyes scan the market, looking for the tell tale signs of someone down on their luck who might have the information he'd need to find out more about the synthene shipment. Perception 1d20+4 [2,4] = (6), Gather Information 1d20 [5] = (5). Luck was not on his side however. The market was not very crowded and those that were there didn't have the look of desperation he was searching for. Sighing he moved to some of the vendors, who perked up at a potential sale. When he tried to discreetly ask about synthene, they muttered under there breath obscenities and shooed him away, saying they didn't need the business of a synth junkie. He was about to give up hope, when he had one last thought. The miners. They seemed pretty down on their luck. It would be dangerous to approach them after what happened at the docks but it was his best chance. Rushing back to the shop he left Ulula and Cinder in, Soz waited impatiently outside for them to finish their business.

Not receiving any real answers to his query, Soz decides to head out with Ulula to gather some supplies. Perhaps someone on the way knows more about the synthene distribution in town. In the grand scheme of things, it wasn't important, but just knowing that he was in some way contributing to turning people into addicted messes like he used to be bothered him. Adjusting his weapons, and insuring they were set to stun while in the town, he stood beside Ulula. "If you don't mind Ulula, I'll head out with you to get the supplies. I could use a good stretch of the legs for a bit." Of course there were reasons beyond just the prospect of information gathering and exercise he wanted to head out with Ulula. Soz was getting homesick and he knew if he went out alone, and didn't find any info about the synthene, his depression might get the better of him and he could find himself at the bottom of a bottle once again. A fate he wanted to avoid. It was hard enough to sober up the first time.

With a flick of his finger, Soz deactivates the grenade and replaces it back on his bandoleer. There is a look of disappointment in his face as the mercenaries/toughs walk away. With the threat of violence gone the concern over the synthene delivery returns. With no other ideas, he walks up to Laris and speaks quietly to her. "I don't suppose that now that we've hit dirtside you could tell me who the synthene is going to?"
Male Duros Soldier 1
Soz smiles excitedly as he sees more men step up. He steps forward rifle in one hand and draws a grenade with the other. He stares at the duro who spoke earlier while addressing the Captain and Maeris. "Just give the word Captain and I'll show these people how serious we are." With a flick of his finger he arms the grenade ready to throw it at the mercenaries. Knowledge (Tactics) check to try and weigh our odds of winning a fight against the former miners and mercenaries. 1d20+9 [18,9] = (27)

After landing the ship, Soz wipes the sweat from his brow. Standing up he marches for his quaters and begins to arm himself in case of trouble. After grabbing his weapons he makes for the boarding ramp. As soon as the ramp hits the ground he is hit with a wave of nostalgia and homesickness from the smells and noises outside. A sad smile falls on his face as he allows his thoughts to wander to his home planet and his family. Shaking himself out of his reverie, he finds the three "pick-up" men from the Doc before the ship. Soz curses under his breath that he didn't notice them sooner and looks to the Captain and Maeris(Laris) awaiting their orders.

For Darth Gamemaster: Spoiler: I think a morale penalty would be totally appropriate for my character given his background. Also I was thinking about my background and motivations some more. I think I would like the idea that my character is a sleeper agent for the Empire. I picture that he was taken as a child and indoctrinated/brain washed to be a tool for assassination within the Duros. I can see him having no memory of the time he was trained by the Empire due to drugs and Force techniques used on his still developing mind. I like the idea that he left his homeworld originally because the Empire activated him and he killed a room full of Duros rebels, including several prominent members of the planetary government. He doesn't remember killing them clearly, though when he was going through Reactor Core withdrawals he would have nightmares about it, instead he woke up surrounded by the bodies and he snuck aboard a freighter to get off planet before the authorities could arrest him. I leave it up to you whether he could be reactivated or if the Empire has for the most part forgotten about him, or even if it was a different group that trained him. I was just trying to think up some kind of dark secret for my character. Let me know what you think or any changes.

Soz, a brute of a Duros with piercings in his face and death in his eyes, looks to Captain Mayvar. "Ready when you are Captain." He then looks back at his controls, his hands shakily steer the ship towards the planet. He hated piloting ever since his last crash while he was with the Crimson Star.
Quandary wrote: @Soz: I'm going to come up with some previous ship captains, business owners, etc who I would have dealt with previously (for use as NPCs, background, etc), probably focused largely on small-time smugglers & ship salvage... I think I'll write up a particular Squibb salvage operation where I had run into you (working as their security), and run it by you for comment/update? (i.e. we work up a shared point of history, and you can develop your before & after yourself...?) Maybe one of the other characters might have known you/heard of you before you got ruined with drugs and were a good pilot, maybe you won some piloting contest or something? Sounds good to me. I picture that while he is an above average pilot (due in large part to his race) his addiction caused him to wreck too many ships and he now is seen as being an accident waiting to happen.
I'm excited to see the interest in this has exploded. :) Ulula Sargasso Spoiler: I was seeing him more like Jane from Firefly, lots of guns and the occasional grenade. I don't plan on actually piloting any vehicle unless everyone else is unable to. More took the skill because of his backstory, definitely not planning on taking Skill Focus:Pilot.
Okay here is the character after rolling his stats. (I rolled once and chose to lower my highest score, Wisdom from 17 to 9 so I could raise my Dexterity from 7 to 15.) Let me know if there is anything I need to change. spinningdice/Maeris(Laris): We could maybe have met during my character's battle to become sober. Maybe I helped you fight off some thugs before passing out from the pain of my withdrawal. What do you think? |
