It took me a bit of time to make my way through this thread to find out information about authenticators, and it's still a little hazy for me. At first, people were talking about something that sends an E-mail to you that might have some kind of delay. Now it sounds like the only way to log in is through having a smart phone or a phone that can receive texts.
I realize that this is all very far in the future, but is there any way to get a solid yes/no answer on whether or not one would need to be an avid cell phone user to play this game? All I have is a landline and a tracfone that I use for emergencies, and each text to my tracfone costs me prepaid units. I'm assuming at this point that my first generation iPod Touch is too old to download the authenticator app, since Apple stopped supporting it a while ago.
I'm sorry if I'm asking for information that was clearly stated at some point. I just want to make sure I'm not spending money on a game I won't actually be able to play.
