Illyana Rasputin from The New Mutants.

A mutant with teleportation abilities...a demonic sorceress...she is so many things! Her soulsword was great, also.

She wielded a sword without compromising her femininity. She is making a big comeback in the X-Comics...and for good rason.

Yes!

To me....Daemons/Yugoloths have appearances that are mysterious, often abberationish....sometimes instectile. Their alienlike features are perfect flipped coins to the natural, animal appearances of Guardinals.

To me...Arcanaloths have always been fallen Guardinals. That is just me tho :)

Although the NAME "Anthraxus" is not open content... the Oinodaemon is. He's in the Tome of Horrors, and he's the same creature that Anthraxus was. The name itself was part of a larger scheme of powerful daemons who were all disease-related, in fact. And we DO have daemons who are disease related in Golarion. The spirit of Anthraxus is very much alive in Golarion as a result, even if he's not actually CALLED Anthraxus.

That is all that counts :)

Thank You, James Jacobs.

While i will always appreciate how Planescape really beefed up the Daemons/Yugoloths...there were some aesthetic choices that never sat well with me.

The mass exodus to Gehenna.i know some of You consider it simply an expansion..but many passages in Planescape state that most loths are now in Gehenna. That leads to my next issue....making the Oinoloth second fiddle to the General of Gehenna. The whole "general" concept itself makes it too militaristic..thus lawful..for a purely neutral evil race. The idea of a dark, toxic ruler sitting atop a tower at the very center of the lower planes appealed more to me as head honcho.

Again...that is just a matter of personal aesthetics. What Planescape did was miles more preferrable than their treatment in 3.0/3.5.

Then again...there is the 4th ed. treatment! i laughed when i saw that poor little "Mezzo Demon" lumped with the elementals. It was just one! One lil' "mezzo demon"! bwah!

Ehhh Tamayto Tamahto.....Oinodaemon is fine!

i remember in Tome of Horrors....The Oinodaemon was Anthraxus...just without the name tagged on.

If Hades and the Oinodaemon are being used...i am happy!

WOTC needs to give up Anthraxus. Are they going to use him even? He was missing in 3.0/3.5. They should hand him over. i'd love to see the other Diseased Lords finally statted.

i am going to e-mail them on this issue. i haven't even been to the Gleemax forum since 4.0 started.

By the way....i finally looked at the 4.0 material.

i went in with a completely open mind...i -wanted- to like it. i simply was not impressed. It all feels very simplified..too simplified...their alignment system is now pointless. Why even keep it if it looks like what it now resembles?

What really got me is using illustrations from 3.0/3.5 in their manuals. How cheap. Was all of this just a rush job?

Anyway....i am veering off topic. i want this all to be positive anyway. i kept putting energy out there to get more Yugoloth/Daemon material....and i think we all might've gotten a better deal than we thought! i doubt WOTC would have ever gone this in depth with the Neutral Evil fiends. Way to go, Paizo :)

Hello everyone.....

Wow....i am PunkRockBard on WOTC. i haven't posted there in a very long time. Ever since all the changes happened to 4E...i lost interest.

i was a huge fan of the Yugoloths.....and i just recently learned about the things Pathfinder are doing.

i often hoped the Neutral Evil Fiends would get their day....and they finally have...not the way i expected but that makes it all the better!

A few questions........

i am reading about these four horsemen. Are concepts like the Oinodaemon, Hades, and Anthraxus not usable?

If no...WOTC should hand them over!

What on earth are they going to be using them for at this point!

i refuse to act like a rantish fanboy. i read enough of that when these changes initially happened. It is spilled milk...what is done is done..and hopefully we are all on to better things.

Nonetheless...WOTC really should hand them over. It's the least they can do.

How many other demons and devils can be compared as being alike???
I think the pit fiend/balor seem just as interchangeable--titanic meat maulers on top of the heap of lackeys.

i agree. They aren't being merged. i wonder if whathisname isn't able to get beyond the T&A factor.

Just to add another angle...

Does anyone else think that the whole succabus/eryines merge smells of sexism?

How many other demons and devils can be compared as being alike???

What Todd said.

The Yugoloths never left Hades in my book. In my little corner of the multiverse, the Yugoloths influence the three neutral evil planes. Gehenna reflects their ruthless, scheming nature. Carceri shows their backstabbing and lies. Hades represents their hollow, pure natures.

Each plane has a leader who rules as far as his influence goes. The General of Gehenna rules Gehenna from the Crawling City, mapping out the Blood War and other dark schemes while being seen and known by few. The Oinoloth rules Hades, spreading disease and despair while fighting off others for his throne. The Overlord of Carceri rules the prisoners, and is a prisoner himself. A king of his own cell. He is both authority and somewhat of a joke to his minions. (This last part i fluffed myself, since there is even less info. on the Overlord than the other two leaders).

The lack of Yugoloth material is perplexing, a bit intriqung and often aggravating. Let's hope we get some payback....-good- payback...not MM IV style payback.

Hhmm interesting input...

If not Charon....a marraenoloth could be cool....imagine a long robed figure holding out a skeletal hand for payment. Cool mojo!

Poor James and Erik...they are constantly asked about FC III. From what i hear...they don't know either. i wish WOTC would at least let people know if they were even considering it...it is asked enough on the boards.

As for FC II......i loved it as much as FC I in its own way. i like that there were significant differences in style between the two books...even with the conflicting creation myths. This diversifies settings...and ultimately gives more options and intrique. i don't trip about the levels of the devil/demon lords. Add Your own levels.

Now...as for the CRs of ultroloths....feh!

Sorry for the delayed response, everyone. i love all of Your ideas.

i do agree that a FC III is a bit riskier than one on devils and demons...that being said....it is probably more doable than any of the other planar species.

As for titles...i really don't think a plane should be given...since i believe that the 'loths claim all three neutral evil planes as their own. "Mercenaries of the Planes" is a title.

So far...the front cover of FC I is a marilith...and a pit fiend (i think right?) is on FC II. What should go on FC III?
i vote for Charon. Or Anthraxus....if they wanted to be -really- old school. But yeah...Charon could be pretty sinister.

Hello all.....

This is my first post on paizo. i am a regular poster on the WOTC boards as PunkRockBard. i often discuss the planes, pretend i'm a slaad lord, and cry/moan/pout about Yugoloth treatment 3rd edition.

Lately...there has been some controversy over the possibility of a FC III on Yugoloths. WOTC has been unnervingly quiet on the issue despite various inquiries. You'd think they could just tell us if it was in the works or not. It would put many at ease..even if the answer is dissapointing.

Anyhoo...if such a project were to come about....what would You all like to see done with it (feel free to join in James and Erik!).

Some things i'd love to see are...

1.) The Yugoloths placed across the three middle planes (Hades, Gehenna, Carceri) instead of mainly on Gehenna. This would give the Yugoloths' environments as much diveristy as Demons and Devils.

2.) The Diseased Lords statted, illustrated, crunched, and fluffed! Since their mention in first ed. MM II...i have been intriqued.

3.) The Barnaloths!

4.) Anthraxus as the Oinoloth. Sorry, that Mydianchlarus
bores me.

5.) Nothing against The General of Gehenna, but i'd like the Oinoloth to be his/her/its equal. I always saw the General as the racial cult of personality and the Oinoloth as the de factor ruler and face-symbol of yugoloth rulership in the middle planes. Currently, the Oinoloth is just a figure who rules the leftovers in Hades (i think more 'loths oughtta inhabit their native plane see above) i always interpreted
"Oinoloth" as the singular, ultimate Yugoloth. Oughtta be treated as such!

6.)Yugoloths have more personality than mercanaries. Let's see it.

What about You all???
