Kudos to Paizo for going beyond the terms of sale, while simultaneously being berated by a caustic customer.

My interactions directly with customer service have been nothing but polite. The failures of a company at large should never be taken out on the rank and file. If it's your position that I had no issues worth addressing, I'd question your reading comprehension. If your issue is tone policing, then I couldn't conjure a care with a specialization in the school.

Crapping on somebody's business doesn't raise your chances of them breaking with their default policy and refunding a product which you bought due to your error—quite the opposite.

Just got it exchanged for the version I wanted, with an assurance they'll look into the faulty voice messaging on their service line. They also just removed the defunct links to the customer service line. Which, apparently, has been noted and asked for action by this community for over a year now, only just finally being fixed today.

So, by my measure, that's Raising Hell - 1: Asking Nicely For An Update - 0. But hey, you have fun sneering.

No offers of refunds on digital purchases.

As you correctly said in your other post and in this one, Paizo makes it clear that you cannot get refunds for digital purchases.

Link I am given on the Paizo site

That would be linkS, like a whole page of them, which, like all other pages of search results, you need to go through to find the most appropriate result.

That would be the one on the page with the subhead
Pathfinder/Rulebooks/Second Edition Rulebooks
and the Second Edition logo on the product.

not the page with the subhead
RSS RSS Facebook Twitter EmailPathfinder / Adventures / First Edition Adventures / Adventure Finder / For Beginners
Pathfinder Roleplaying Game: Beginner Box (OGL) PDF

Yep, you knew that.

If you really think you have made a persuasive argument for being granted an exception to their rules, then, as Cori Marie says, you'll need to send an email to customer service. The address is in the footer of every page on the site, just below the large-type "Need Help?" subhead.

Or, you might just need to write this off as a 'lesson learned' without getting the closure you seek. Relationships end like that sometimes.

You mean the box I am literally unable to I spect because I'm buying a digital pdf of a sold out product? That I clicked on a direct link to, like most individuals searching for a specific product would by searching it up? The condescension in your tone implies that I should feel stupid for not being able to tell two identically named and nondescript items apart by looking at the series of heading I could have taken to get there. Would a new customer be given this same scathing expectation of just knowing the difference, or can you set your fanboying aside for a second to acknowledge that there should probably be some clear indicator of edition in both the title and the description?

Returned to the game after a 7 year absence. I am told that physical copies of the 2e Beginner Box are sold out in the wake of the OGL. Seek out online PDF of the product by typing 'Pathfinder 2e Beginner Box.' Link I am given on the Paizo site is for an IDENTICALLY NAMED Pathfinder Beginner Box. Do not realize this is the 1e version. Seriously, the 2e version doesn't even have a 'Second Edition' anywhere in its name on the web page. Pay for the PDF, and only realize the mistake after I've already purchased it. No refunds on digital purchases.

Find listed customer service line. Attempt to call customer service to see if I can at least get it exchanged for the 2e Beginner Box. Fail to receive a response during work hours. Try this for several days, growing increasingly frustrated that a company as large as Paizo can't manage to even clear out their voice mail so people can leave messages. Complain on the forums.

Am reprimanded by the community for my foolishness in not being able to tell the difference between 'Pathfinder Roleplaying Game: Beginner Box' and 'Pathfinder Beginner Box', neither of which mention edition names in their descriptions OR titles. Am told that the customer service line has been down since Covid started, and that it is unreasonable for a company to be expected to at least swap their automated message on their customer service line to say that it is not operating for the forseeable future, and to not actively send their customers into dead ends.

I am, apparently, unreasonable and foolish for my inability to navigate these crystal clear waters. And my expectations of a company that sells $20 pdfs of 11 year old products, and the service that sort of price line should include, are apparently beyond the ken. As such, I would greatly appreciate a refund on this one product, so that my relationship with this company might be considered closed.
