I believe there is something to be said for Epic Meepo's idea. It allows a lightly armoured Magus to have more options in how they wish to play their character.
So, to clarify, rather than casting a spell and rolling a touch attack in the same round as usual, say with a shocking grasp, the Magus casts touch attack in his first round and then makes his attack roll in the next round.
