Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 Skizzit takes a move action away from the dinosaur as far as possible without backing into any corners, while making knowledge and perception rolls regarding it. Note that as a monk, he has a 50 ft speed. Knowledge Nature: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 16
Ebonheart: Skizzit takes a half-step backward, but nods his head, stroking his familiar. "Sounds good," he says. "Joining your cause, I mean." He stands up straighter. "I'm willing to do most anything you ask."
Skizzit looks at the portal. He gulps, but takes a deep breath. He looks down at his familiar. "You ready, boy?" Squeak squeaks. "Yeah," he says. Skizzit nods. "Alright, then," he says. He steps through the portal with the others. Once on the other side, he looks around. Perception: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (19) + 21 = 40
Squeak looks around as well, though with different thoughts on his mind. Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
The perception check is actually not a joke, and includes scent.
Prior to the Briefing:
Skizzit ponders for a moment. "That sounds like the best I'm likely to do," he says. He smiles. "This is probably out of line for me to ask, but to whatever extent you feel comfortable saying, what exactly is your plan? I expect the details are confidential, but what are you guys trying to accomplish. By the very fact that you're still a paladin, I know your actions are for the best, but... well, I guess I'm trying to calm my nerves." The mousy man's blush shows through his furry cheeks. "I should probably shut up." Diplomacy: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (1) + 20 = 21 Sorry for so short a post. I'm afraid I've lost track of what's going on, as evidenced by the fact that I have no idea what the hell Ebonheart is talking about. I'll read the thread more carefully and make another post my midnight tonight.
Skizzit toured the room, pressing each button exactly once. It'd be foolish to decide before I've seen them all he thought. He was beginning to regret not taking the mark. His plan had been to wait as long as possible to see if it had any negative effects, but it was looking like its absence on him might come back to bite him, and sooner rather than later. Squeak lay on his shoulder, content after the belly rub he had received on the way up. He took slow, deep breaths as he daydreamed about a giant wheel of cheese.
Skizzit smiles. "Chamber of free will," he says, following near to the others. He lifts Squeak off of his shoulder and pets him. "C'mon, little guy," he says, "for a free belly rub." "Belly rub?" the rat says, springing to life. "CHAMBER OF FRED WILL!" he shouts, as he lay on his back to claim his prize. Perception: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (6) + 19 = 25
Skizzit looks up at the figure. This is a pretty elaborate hoax, of it is a hoax he thinks. He looks over at the fighter who had taken the mark. Perception: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (16) + 19 = 35
Does anything look off about him? He looks up at the winged figure. "How do we know you're not lying?" he asks. "You have announced that you will compell us to do as you ask. Why should that make us think your intentions righteous?"
Skizzit waits to see what happens to his companion as he steps onto the stone. As he does, I try to recognize the mark on the floor. Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (1) + 20 = 21 Knowledge Religion: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (6) + 18 = 24 Knowledge Planes: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11 In addition, he scans the figure before him, who is telling him to get onto it. Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (6) + 20 = 26 Knowledge Religion: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (3) + 18 = 21 Knowledge Planes: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11 Knowledge History: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32 Sense Motive: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (2) + 15 = 17
Skizzit sits down. He looks over at Kejac, trying to discern what sort of help he might need. "Have I read a book about you somewhere? There's no need to be cryptic. We all seem to be friends here, so there's no cause for obscuring anything. Who exactly are you? Diplomacy Check to Convince Him to be Less Cryptic: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (2) + 20 = 22
Skizzit's eyes widen a bit as he looks at the creature, petting Squeak to calm him as the rat takes deep breathes to calm himself. Not recognizing the creature, he opens his mouth. "Who are you?" he asks. At the same time, he thinks deeply, searching his knowledgebase for any hints of the creature's identity.
He also studies the creature's face, trying to discern any ill intent, and discern if he lies about his identity. Sense Motive: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (20) + 15 = 35
Skizzit almost coughed with disgust as he walked through the alley, keeping well away from whatever flies he could avoid, lest their attraction to him cause them to swarm about him. In other cases, he might take a deep breath to relieve such tension, but it was obvious that would not be a good idea here. Instead, he pinched his nose shut with mage hand and tried to bare it. Squeak lay relaxed on his shoulder, nearly asleep.

Holy crap you were gone for less than 6 hours. There's no way getting that little sleep is good for you, man.

There is a language called "Ratfolk." Also, apparently ratling is the name of a monster so that's just something we might think about. No special urgency to it. Perhaps "Muroid" (murine means having to do with rats, mice, or the like) would be good? |
