Male Halfling Bard

Same, catch you on the flip side.

Male Halfling Bard

That would be pretty decent, we lost a frontliner and a trap spotter.

Male Halfling Bard

Ah okay, didn't realize I'd be going first, I delay, if someone needs healing I will move over and heal them.

Simon holds his ground, preparing his healing magic, the divine words on the tip of his tongue ready to be released.

Male Halfling Bard

No, it just gives a few handy tools, plus $5/month for something I use regularly is far cheaper then my old WoW account. The gm doesn't have to get a sub, it's completely free.

Male Halfling Bard

I can see, sorry it's been a busy weekend

Male Halfling Bard

I use roll20 a lot so I am a subscriber. With a sub you gain access to roll20 on android tablets.

Male Halfling Bard

roll20 is a virtual tabletop useful for running games when you cannot see each other face to face. It can be found at www.roll20.net and they have tutorial videos and much more.

Male Halfling Bard

No objections, I have an account already since I run a game every Sunday

Male Halfling Bard

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Will Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 +2 more if it is against fear

Male Halfling Bard

"I cannot speak for my house, there are others who can, I am a spoiled rich brat who grew up in a library shielded from the politics, hardships, and realities of the outside world. I only have a few years of experience with the real world under my belt, and I cannot say for certain that you would have my support."

Male Halfling Bard

A moment to think, what else can we do? The only way I see it we have two options, Ms. Falataur is our leader, maybe she could pick one.

Simon sighs, looks up at the elf and begins, using his words carefully.

"I see two options here Ms. Falataur. Leave the sword in, warn the house above and let the houses decide what to do. After all just about every house in Stormreach has a heavy investment here. The second would be to form some kind of legally binding agreement, a pact for lay mans terms. If the demon breaks this promise, bound in blood, it shall return to the plane from whence it came. We will have to know the demon's true name for such a pact, but only the person entering such a foul deal would need to know."

Simon looks Mirana in the eyes before one more sentence.

"Yes I know what I offer is not an... optimal deal, but it this is far more complex than any of us are currently equipped to deal with."

Male Halfling Bard

I haven't been to Oahu, but I've been to Maui and Kauai . I agree that I could never live on such a small island.

Male Halfling Bard

Will Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 +2 if this is a save vs Fear

Simon looks down at his ring and smiles, a warm and gentle smile.

"There is nothing I would kill for, there are certainly some people, but nothing material. There are even fewer people I would die for."

Male Halfling Bard

Simon ponders for a moment before thinking of an idea.

If only our warforged hadn't deactivated behind us.

"If only we had a House Cannith artificer with us to slowly drain off the excess magic. Unfortunately this is within the Jorasco enclave and should be dealt with sooner rather than later. Maybe Bludgeon could wield such a weapon without the magic affecting him as much due to his construction?"

Male Halfling Bard

Religion: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

"Hmm, this is rather strange, maybe I can decipher the runes, in order to do that we need to move closer."

Male Halfling Bard

"This could be problematic. But the undead appear to be somewhat weak so far. We should push on and see what lies ahead."

Male Halfling Bard

"Hmm, not so tough for undead, Eldramin can you tell what it says? I have not been trained in the arcane arts

Decipher Script: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

Male Halfling Bard

bump

Male Halfling Bard

Simon readies an action to Turn Undead

Male Halfling Bard

Listen: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Spot: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Male Halfling Bard

Man I can't believe I forgot to change who I was posting as in the game play thread, that's so embarrassing. Sorry about that

Male Halfling Bard

May Aureon guide my path, Dol Arrah light my way, and Dol Dorn give me the courage to face what may be ahead. May Olladra grant me the good fortune to see the light of day again.

Gathering his thoughts, Simon prepares to head forward.

"Miss Falataur, we trust you to pick a path that will lead us out. Which way do you think? I agree that I do not trust those tombs, but there may be any clues as to what might be down here that way. So do we try and leave first, or do we give in to our curiosity?"

Male Halfling Bard

Simon coughs a few times, tries to pound out some of the dirt in his clothes before looking up. Squinting in the light he is unsure of his surroundings and unsure of how to get back.

He looks towards his travelling companions and speaking quietly calls out "Is everyone okay? If so let's see if we can figure out what we need to do."

Kneeling down to grab some of his fallen gear, Simon lights a candle and places it in his lamp. The small amount of light will be enough to look at his surroundings and find the others.

This was definitely not what I bargained for. Alhaura will have my hide if I don't get back in one piece.

Male Halfling Bard

Seriously take care of yourself, that is the roughest trip I've ever heard of.

Male Halfling Bard

Yeah I know, I have a decent dex too so I'm surprised I got that low. Well I did get some decent knowledge checks. The good come with the bad.

Male Halfling Bard

Dex check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Lost in thought Simon is too busy contemplating the runes to notice until it is too late.

Male Halfling Bard

Piping in before anyone destroys a rune "Wait a minute. We were told to investigate why the undead are popping up. All Alhaura wanted was us to take a preliminary look and get an estimate of what we are dealing with. A demon is surely far from our reach at the moment. But if Ms. Falataur wants to free a demon and chase it down we will."

Simon finishes his two cents before contemplating the runes again. Such a necessary evil, small hordes of undead for the price of one major demon.

Male Halfling Bard

They could be any number of things, at the moment we can only speculate about such things. Our knowledge checks might turn something up, although they might simply be a large scale version of the lvl 4 spell that lets people make lightbulbs.

Male Halfling Bard

So does anybody have any idea what the glowy runes might be? I'm going to take a guess at something to either preserve zombie flesh or maybe a spell to keep reanimating skeletons. That or just lights.

Male Halfling Bard

Wracking his brains Simon tries to make anything of the runes with the help of his book.

These are just my knowledges

Religion: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 This might yield something
History: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Lore aka Bardic Knowledge: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 Unfortunately these are unknown so this will give me nothing.

Male Halfling Bard

"Very interesting, such a large and open space beneath the enclave. It's a mystery nobody has found it before. Eldramin what do you make of this?"

Putting his sling down Simon rummages through his pack for his own glyph book, placing it on the floor and trying to find anything that makes sense.

Decipher Script: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

Add another +4 if I can gain the circumstance bonus from the glyphbook

Male Halfling Bard

Grasping his holy symbol, moving it to a belt chain, Simon utters a soft prayer before venturing forward while drawing and loading his sling.

"I was always better with books and spells than I was at turning the undead. But I can always try and force the monsters to flee."

I have no charisma modifier to affect my turning attempt, I plan on picking up a flame silver holy symbol and with knowledge religion my saves go up. Unfortunately all I have atm is my cleric level.

Male Halfling Bard

Oh man, I hope you and your family are okay. Especially with the weather there over the weekend.

Male Halfling Bard

Back in the courtyard Simon greets the others, responding to Mirana's words.

"At least for you, for me it's simply life in the enclave. We have some undead to clear out, and investigate why they were down in this part of the area."

Simons points out where the shed is and waits for the others to move before following.

Male Halfling Bard

I don't have the charisma for a good turning but I have a good amount of healing spells at my disposal.

Male Halfling Bard

After meeting with his wife and telling her about his travelling companions Simon looks up to see Verdan. After listening to his words of warning he reaches into his breast pocket and grasps his holy symbol of the Host.

"I believe that we most certainly can do something about it. I will just have to confirm details with our leader. We will take a look inside and make sure there is no necromancer or dark magic afoot."

"Oh and I'll be sure to be careful with my quest. The thought of something like that could be amazing. The house probably has an interest in such a flying city I presume."

After unpacking, and putting his duster back on he heads out to the courtyard to meet with the others.

I'm just going to leave her out of this, Simon has a wife, it's not that important, I'd rather not talk to myself over a post and make myself sound crazy

Male Halfling Bard

"Ah thank you Verdan. Just point me to the direction of where my wife is and I'll be all settled."

Simon snaps his fingers to summon a few servants of the house.

"Alright show these people to their quarters, let them get situated. Ms. Falataur, Vul, Mr. Bludgeon, and Eldramon follow these servants. Meet me back here in One hour it looks like we have a job tide us over until we set off."

I know undead in a place with an altar of revival, it's mentioned in the city of stormreach book. Really good read if you get a chance.

Male Halfling Bard

Man the last Eberron game I played in I was a warforged cleric of the becoming god. We had plundered a few xen'drik ruins and the gm began listing all of the stuff we had found. I had a headache that day and asked the party "Why exactly are we selling all of this stuff? Can't we just keep it in a house and have people pay us to look at it?"

Half a session later we had bought a mansion, filled it with artifacts, invented a sor/wiz 2 spell that would give a warforged the casters sense of taste, and we were still buying things. We charged scholars to look at all the stuff we found except the clothes which we gave to our multiclassed beguiler/wizard/ultimate magus.

Male Halfling Bard

Taking a deep breath Simon speaks quickly and concisely.

"Ah it is good to see you too Verdan. Let's see, introductions at least quick ones. The elf is Mirana, she's our leader. The warforged is her subordinate Bludgeon, the other elf is Nix our spy, and the older gentleman is a scholar Eldramon. I am part of this adventuring party for a Mr. Zil Feywind. You should know him, you sent me to Sharn for that quest into Xen'drik."

Seemingly back to his jovial self as opposed to the serious and starry eyed philosopher in the garden he continues.

"I am in town for about 3 days, I was wondering if we could get room for that time. We can work to pay it off. Obviously I can work in the house, but the others can do any miscellaneous jobs you have. Killing whatever pops up in the basements and whatnot since they always need cleaning out from the creepy crawlies."

I'm pretty sure I would know about how many undead pop up in Respite despite being the healers guild enclave.

Male Halfling Bard

Before getting indoors Simon walks over to some flowers, leans over and smells them, picks a few and continues on. Leading the party indoors he looks up at Mirana, showing a face with a large grin.

"Nobody has any idea what a great destiny means, although I think I might have met mine. While rare, I have heard stories of Aerenal elves with the dragonmark belonging to House Phiarlan. But I have also heard stories of them losing favor with your Undying Court due to such a mark and then fleeing to Khorvaire for safety."

He traces some of the lines on his own mark with the thumb of his left hand, following the lines with his eyes.

"Count your blessings that you are not one of the marked. Arranged marriages, house politics, etc. I am lucky indeed, the Host has blessed me with a wonderful wife, a good home, and the wonderful circumstances of my upbringing. We are trying to make the house happy, after all children of dragonmarked parents tend to continue to hold the markings."

Male Halfling Bard

Ah it's good to be home

Simon takes off his duster and throws it over his shoulder revealing the dragonmark on his right forearm.

"Ah hello, you must be new here. Can you fetch me someone who does more business around here, I need food and a place to stay for a few days. Oh and my wife. I thought I could surprise her a bit."

With his coat off, Simon stands in the enclave in a pair of slacks, blue collared shirt, and some basic shoes. Turns around to the group.

"Okay now don't get your hopes up too high. This isn't a house Ghallanda resort so while there might be some rooms to spare it won't be anything fancy. Oh and Eldramin I believe you might be able to use that glyph book around here, from what I hear this enclave used to belong to the giants of Xen'Drik."

I didn't have any stats for Simon's wife but I figured either a bard or an adept, dragonmarked like Simon. Simon has an arranged marriage but was lucky enough to be partnered with someone he has grown to truly love over the past 7 years.

Male Halfling Bard

Once again using my message spell to communicate while I am near to Mirana

Elven:
"Wise decision Miss Falataur, there are plenty of other opportunities to work. Either the house will have jobs, and will most likely expect me to work while we stay, or other job opportunities will pop up. If anything we can get work at the arena."

Simon stops his whispering, takes a sip from his water skin, a deep breath and goes back to his mutterings.

Elven:
"Regardless, we just got off a three day journey, let us all head to the enclave and split up from there. At least we can unpack and have a bite to eat. I still have to show the gentleman to the temple."

Male Halfling Bard

Man I love how 3.5 message worked. While it's normally on the sor/wiz list the cloistered cleric gets to add it to theirs. Very very handy since it lasts for 10 min/lvl with a target of 1 creature/lvl.

Male Halfling Bard

Simon looks up at the older gentleman, the twinkle in his eye is back.

"Hmm, I know the church of the Host here has a lot of random artifacts and journals. They are a little... odd here, even by my standards could be considered heretical. Regardless it is a great source of knowledge, while a little focused on"

He pauses mid sentence, realizing there is an opportunity to surprise the older human.

"How about I let you decide on that one. You can find them in the Forgelight district, not the temple district. I'm going to head over there to pay my respects to the Host afterward. Other than that there should be a few libraries around."

You know I've been thinking the exact same thing.

Male Halfling Bard

Simon reaches into one of his belt pouches and grasps the copper wire and quickly points to Mirana and looks away down the docks.

Simon casts a 0 level spell, Message targeting Mirana.

Elven Message:
"I understand your desire to work, but maybe this Cartamon would be willing to negotiate after we check in at the enclave and tavern. Rest your sword arm on your hip if you can hear me."

If Baudry, or any member of the party, can see my lips moving he will have to one read my lips, and second read my lips in Elven.

Male Halfling Bard

Simon stops walking and turns around to the rest of the group.

"Okay that sounds alright, as long as I can arrange it with the family. I might have to cut my day at the spa. Well for starters I should give you some tips, let's call them guidelines for not getting shanked."

"Guideline for not getting shanked number 1, do NOT go out after dark. It may seem friendly, but the city is filled with more gangs and crooked guards than you can imagine."

"Guideline for not getting shanked number 2, do not trust the guards with anything more complicated than a spoon. If you absolutely need help the Iron Watch is your best bet for staying alive, Mr. Bludgeon you might like them."

"And G.L.F.N.G.S. number 3, do not take anything from anyone unless you buy it, trade for it, or read all the fine print on any contract. This is a town of thieves and cut throats, all of which could care less about you and your obligations."

Simon stops counting on his fingers, looks up as if trying to remember anything else he might have forgotten, smiles, and starts talking again.

"Well I think that about covers it. I think we should be on our way then. I can't wait to see the look on my wife's face when I show up home early. Even if just for a bit."

Male Halfling Bard

Let's see, my shopping list, some kind of adventuring gear. Maybe we could all pitch in advice on things that we'll need. Personally I'd like to get a travelling conqueror set from Garay Gyriaz in the marketplace, stop by the temple of the Host in Forgelight (no matter how weird they are in Stormreach), and then get to the enclave.

Male Halfling Bard

"How about you follow me instead? There is a House Jorasco enclave not too far from here. Unless you would like a little piece of home Mirana. I would seek out Thaendyr's Rest if I were you. That is near this here harbor so I'm sure you will find it soon enough. It will be a bit refreshing. Mr. Bludgeon I'm sure you will follow Mirana. In the meantime I am going to see my family. Nix and Eldramin are welcome to join me if you'd like."

Simon breathes in the sea air, looks up at the Leaky Dinghy, and chuckles.

I am home my dear. I will see you soon enough, but it won't be for too long.

"Oh and don't jump when you run into giants, sahaugin, or drow. They are not exactly common, but common enough. Live here long enough, like my beautiful wife, and you might not speak their language but you can certainly rattle off a few swears in them."

Simon begins heading off the docks towards the enclave, talking with a few of the locals, making small talk with the locals, all the while with a smile on his face.

Male Halfling Bard

Since my character's family is here, would I be able to arrange room for my adventuring friends. Favorite in House does have it's benefits. Unless you'd like me to roll for it, although I'm not asking for a lot. My character' wife is in Stormreach since this is where he's lived for the past few years since his marriage.

Male Halfling Bard

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

The small halfling steps next to Mirana and begins to speak, in a calm soothing voice, but sharp and to the point. His eyes seem cold and focused compared to the warmth they showed in the tavern.

"Good afternoon gentlemen. Please refrain from insults in the presence of a lady. I do apologize that you were not able to go along on this journey, but we have a very important appointment to attend to. You clearly have us outnumbered, but for no real reason at all. If you wish to chase after us do so on your own time, in your own airship. Until then please let us through so we may all be on our way."

I really hope this works, I'd rather not have to call the watch
