Human (Keleshite) Rogue 4
Siddig covers his face with the long end of his turban, to better hide his disgust. Such an unfortunate fate, these damned wretches have to endure. At least the livestock are blissfully ignorant of their slavery; the people know all too well of their bonds. He continues walking through the Pens, eyes and ears open for opportunities to make some quick coins, all the while fighting off dismay and distaste.

Siddig checks left and right before moving casually towards the dropped goods. Desna smiles, he thinks as he steps over and snatches up a bundle of silk nonchalantly. Not looking back, he continues on his way as if all is absolutely as it should be, and turns down the next side street. Sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25

The gods are not on my side this week, it seems, Siddig curses his luck and sighs, casting a disdainful eye at the pesh handlers. After another aggressive peddler tries to sell him some cheap jewelry, he retreats from the market and heads for the city gates, to see what the Pens might offer.

Siddig pauses on a street corner, leaning against the wall in the shade. He frowns at the herds of Sarenrae faithful headed to morning prayers, but stops short of sighing. A bit of a conundrum, this is. Mayhap I should just check in and fess up to the lost cargo. Gah! Faliz and the others would never let me live it down, especially after that incident in Bug Harbor... Looking right, in the general direction of the trade guilds, he sighs. No... not yet. If someone recognizes me there, I'll get dragged into the family whirlwind. He looks left, pondering. Mercenaries are always in demand... but what lousy pay for lousy work can I expect? I need something faster! I've got no ties to the underworld here, but... Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 Do I know of any 'black market' merchants, or people with less-than-legal connections?

My apologies... I thought I had posted before, but apparently I didn't. =/ Anyway, Siddig isn't very religious, and prays more in the direction of Abadar than Sarenrae. He would likely skip the devotions and look for work. Siddig grunts at Khaled's wisdom then finishes his tea quickly. He stands and sketches a small (subtly mocking) bow before taking his pack and leaving the inn. He heads for the markets, eyes and ears open. Diplomacy (gather information): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

Siddig nods his thanks for the tea, sipping the hot drink cautiously. "The Breakstride is a well-known haven for explorers and travelers. My caravan was ambushed and ransacked by bandits less than a day outside the city." He shrugs, nonchalantly. "Bandits are nothing new to experienced caravaners, but that day we had no warning. Have you heard aught of these reavers recently? I seek to reclaim my goods -- likely a lost cause -- or replace them... if I can find the means." Siddig raises an eyebrow to Khaled.

Siddig takes a portion of bread and spiced hummus, with a cup of kahve on the side, and then finds a central spot to sit and listen. He tries to eavesdrop on the surrounding chatter, hoping for hints at lucrative work. Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 Unfortunately, one of the caravan guards sits nearby a few seconds later -- a large man with a strangely high-pitched voice -- and carries on talking in an uncomfortably loud manner, drowning out all the 'normal' chatter nearby. Siddig finishes his breakfast and gets up to get a cup of tea. He sweetens it heavily, then walks over to Khaled. "A fine morning, my friend. The gods' blessings on you and yours. A quiet night and soft bed is more than I could have hoped for a day ago!"
Human (Keleshite) Rogue 4
Siddig sighs and turns over, trying in vain to regain the pleasant warmth of his interrupted dream. A few more tosses and turns only delay the inevitable, and a growl from his stomach signals the battle is lost. Groaning, Siddig gathers his things -- the few personal items left to his name -- and makes his way towards the scent of breakfast.
DMVoV: The al'Basheer trade in primarily finished goods from Katapesh. They cover a wide variety, including furniture, carpets, metals, weapons, small animals, spices and tea. Siddig's oldest brother has some exclusive supplies of magical items. Their father strictly prohibits drugs or contraband, but Siddig has occasionally dabbled in these illicit goods to make a small profit off the books. They don't produce their own materiel, but have contracts with several craftsmen in the city.
Description? -- Like most Keleshites, Siddig has brown skin and black hair, which he keeps his hair cropped short. When grown, his beard comes in horribly patchy, so he tends to stay clean shaven. He is tall but wirey, and hides his narrow figure underneath baggy clothes. The clothes are nondescript, and usually sandy from weeks on the caravan trails. Why are you in Solku? -- 'The Family Business'. Eighth of eight kin, five of which are brothers, leaves Siddig with few lucrative routes or goods to sell. Never the charming merchant his father is, Siddig has often had to rely on bluffs and cajoling to make a sale. This last route was a grueling trek through Osirion, then south along the western highlands, before arriving in Solku. What are your plans? -- Recover from disaster. Siddig's modest caravan was ransacked by bandits a day out of Solku. He managed to escape the ambush on his horse, which died a mile from the city gates, but left him with only his personal gear. Now he must find a way to recoup the lost wealth, by whatever means... and explain it to his family. Ties to Solku? -- The al'Basheer business is headquartered in Katapesh city, but they have a small outpost office in Solku. However, Siddig is avoiding the place and delaying his check in until he can find a way to recover and save face. For the time being, he is staying at the Breakstride, pondering his way forward. Build? -- Rogue, almost certainly. I haven't spec'd him out yet, but I'm envisioning high Dex, and good Cha and Str. Lower stats will probably be Wis and Con. For skills, acro, bluff, sleight of hand, with some profession (merchant). I'm interested in a high-mobility, flanking specialist... feats and abilities that help shape the battlefield to aid the heavy hitters. I still have to page through the all the archetypes and feats. Let me know if you have any questions! =) |
